Had some brief downpours here w/ flashes of lightning and a couple boomers. Nothing severe at all. Looking forward to real spring. As far as the eye can see, mid 50's n 60's per NWS and what guidance is showing. Even up north. I'm sure some of the "normal" locals will catch some flakes this weekend, but thats normal for them. Once we get beyond next weeks coolish stuff, springs a coming. I'm ready and done w/ this craptastic pattern we've been in and tired of backend cold shots....there..I said it. Voyager, I hope your proud of me. Rain was nice tonight. We needed it. Hope damage was minimal. Gnight all. -

Not sure if the video still exists/is posted where the audio was live. Hearing the times of quiet with cars crashing into each other really was surreal. -

I get ya. I've "not seen" the blob enough to understand, but also feel that even if they can get that blob to fill in someday, that the real solution still will be a large dose of common sense...and no computer can fix that........yet. -

I know bud. It's all good w/ you. Just tempering expectations with more than a snow map. Hope you understand/appreciate what I'm sayin. I'm old enough to be allowed to be snakebit. Keep rollin on...you'll get one eventually (hopefully not May). -

Your FIRED........... and actually I'm pissed, cause I'm really tired of cold withOUT snow. Let's just end this already. My son said they have to "rebuild" parts of 81 and was telling me a bit how they do it last night (he used to be a firefighter for a handful of years). Crazy stuff. -

Thats a very fair point and why heightening awareness is all we can really do (unless y'all want the GPS to control your speed ). Common sense still is the biggest factor in this IMO. -

Nah...he likes to troll me..we all see it. My posts regarding the weather and where we are going....while negative in tone...are nothing more than being 100% realistic. Has March been cold...yeah... Has it been anomalously cold...not IMO...but likely below normal. Has it snowed much down here......natsomuch and in my locale....hardly a flake. I'm sure a large portion of us here could say that outside of some snowshowers/squalls, its been much the same.....backsided and boring. THAT's the point I've been trying to drive home, as most of us snow hounds want snow with stickage. He suggested March should definitely be considered a winter month. Totally agree, and always have, but that doesn't have a 1 to 1 correlation w/ snow and in this pattern, not enough has changed (even as the wavelengths started to, and can still be something that factors in as we approach true spring). truth is %'s drop like a stone from early March to where we are now. Showing a 200+hr snowmap when almost in April....ok....you do you, but for sake of argument...doesn't hold much water...or snow. Give me more than that....and I'll be glad to listen/chat it up. My feeling is and has been that we've just not had the timing right this year, and I feel that will continue into the backside of whatever winter we have left here. You, I and others have been in agreement wrt to this. I've never discounted the normal snowbelts as being able to do well into March. They always have and always will, but bye and large that's not really most of us. MAG, 2001, Pawatch and whomever else is NW of us are the envy of the forum snowwise for where they live and in this pattern, can cash in while we watch. Happy for them. It's a weather discussion board, and I take the time to throw reasoning (right or wrong) as to why I feel the way I do, but don't appreciate being trolled w/out data/reasoning as to why I'm wrong. I make no claims to be an expert, but I come here to chat up weather w/ good folks.... Rant over....good luck to all that get your 7 snowflakes, before it turns to rain. I'm happy for those that enjoy it. -

At the end of the day....common sense still plays a large part of how we roll, and as of now, no computer can replace that. Down the road....maybe so. Hopefully not in my lifetime. I dont want to be prrogrammed...and subject to malware in my brain. -

I guess the part that is a disconnect w/ radar being touted as the problem....is that bye and large, its mostly weather weenies like us that would be hyperfocused on a radar screen in search of snow. Moreover, even if it existed, it might help fill small donut holes, but when CTP issued a snow squall warning and it pops on screen, that's really all they can do is heighten awareness. It still falls on said individual to heed warning. Most of us have seen the videos in the last couple days, and when its a white out like we saw....that falls on the driver to slow down. Again, I've been guilty of it, so I'm not taking ANY high road here, but from what I saw, many of those folks were really cruisin along IMO. -

Well this is a loaded one for sure. You can blame a myriad of things...weather, society for the push push, radar...whatevs, but at the end of the day, the person behind the wheel takes much of it (I'm guilty as charged btw). IMO with todays technology, with many vehicles having NAV/GPS, I'd think it'd be easy for all vehicles to require one, and when you are going through areas like this stretch which is notoriously dangerous, they could set speed restrictions between mile markers x and y....and when you pass through (just like turnpike toll booths), your car restricts to set speed parameters. That was easy... at the end of the day, I prefer it up to us, but I'd think something like above isnt too far fetched... Pics that I saw were horrible and thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. -

Sorry man. I know you wanted it, but pattern is a rinse and repeat bud... Verbatim...nooner GFS says 7-10 days shows 3 poss weather events (all rain) until the usual cold front sweeps in to freeze your patunas off while its possibly snowing post frontal onions (if your in the lucky NW spots). Same basic pattern. Gut says, that once NAO/AO start heading north...so the boundary will go once again. Our recent cold is a byproduct of the pattern we've been in much of this season. By April, its getting real tough thermally. With that in mind, below does not inspire confidence for snow hounds in April down here...or in Texas. If below is wrong, then I'll use the onions for my crow stew. Check the deviation/mean out. This is not gospel by any means, but has served me pretty well with my guesses over the years (I'm no forecaster so would never speak as such). Couple either of these w/ a neutral PNA and we get normalish weather...not anomalous IMO. Hey this is a weather board, so I'm throwin my thoughts out there. K? I'm hangin out till first week of April to see how things pan out, then I'll likely be headin for the cave this year. Its almost HH so I'm checkin out and headin for a beer at home...cheers. -

sorry man. but after this brief dip w/ AO/NAO, they both head back for neurtralish territory, and that doesnt bode well for easters and snow (see what i did there). Of course a perfectly timed/placed event is a remote chance, but as we turn the calendar, I'd bet we wave bye bye to snow season. Its all good. -

Yeah thats normalish and will be nice (don't tell voyager I said that-dont wanna lose my snowhound status). just was out to pick up lunch and while chilly, you can feel the warmth comin...was nice. Did i just type that... WTH is wrong w/ me? Note to self....put Harley in garage when you want cold ass temps. If only the snow coulda happened-pattern was basically a reapeat of mid winter and antecedent cold just never holds as next storm starts a cuttin....meh. Happy Spring all....enjoy.
