and for the record, I'm not into sacrificing ANY period of time when it can snow, but its not hard to see that Decembers dont often produce down in our hoods. Norther/westers....usually a diff story (like last year).
-
Well last year looked great for december and we all know how that turned out. While many of us like to get out of the gates early, Dec. is usually a toss up and not prime time anyway, so if we must wait for things to get a better look, so be it. From this WAY early lead, cautious optimism that we've not looking down the barrel of another wall to wall ratter is ok by me. Hoping that look out west can hold wrt PNA and Aleutians.
-
Nice to see you back (and now in our forum). Been starting to look at long lead as the building nino may help with some fun periods this year. I've seen a few early looks on the web and lets just say....i'd take what i read in a heartbeat.

While I'm a weather geek, I'm not a stats guy, so I'd defer to my local geeks for that info. If memory serves, it actually came from Millersville Univ. Dept of met. so I'll call it "credible"
-
Agreed. .9" for me in southern Pa.... yes, you read that correctly.
-
I'm hoping we are using all of our "colder than normal" chips up for the year.
-
some mesos showed my area getting split in the qpf distribution yesterday, and that was a correct map. akron got a couple drops yesterday evening, and NWS showing no rain overnight (although the ground was moist when leaving for office). looks like many did well though.
-
Yep. Was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago at last look. Not diggin it, and if the mesos are right that bow is over my head at some point.
-
-
this mornings view of some mesos showed a couple lines forming, but wasnt a strong look as most showed the main show for dinner time taking center stage.
-
Never have been and never will be. "Someones pain is someones pleasure" has always come to mind when folks inside and outside the weather fetish wish for it to happen. Hope we just get some run of the mill stuff but it looks to be poppin W/SW of here so batten down the hatches all.
-
Enjoy running on the chocolate milk :). Jokin aside, I'd think you'll be ok. watch out for trees/debris tho.
-
I hope its not storm phobia for your pup. My first Golden had storm phobia and went literally batshit during storms. My Golden (Nash) was a therapy dog, and one of the best trained/obedient dogs I've come by, but when storms came....he blew thru screens to get outside, tried to jump out of send floor window (daughters room on bed), chewed 30" of garage door (after forcing is way OUT of cage w/ blankets over it (docs orders to try to calm him during storms). Rescue Remedy is very helpful to calm them. Toughest part is that it takes about 30 min to take hold, and you almost need to do it in advance to take the edge off. Hoping your pups ok.

Stopped in to see how interesting things got last night as I had some Tboomer action at my house, but doesnt sound nearly as exciting as Canderson and JNS and others had. Nice morning read. Well done boys @candersonand @Jns2183. About 1/2" in my hood. Happy for it. Have a nice weekend all.
-
Hoping the GFS is right for tomorrow night. While there is support for something, the consensus isnt overwhelming regarding other globals and mesos.
-
yeah we got some thunder and a brief shower. Still dry under the big trees but lawn got a sip of water. I was up at 3 and that cell did pop a bit when overhead.
-
FYP Send some of your rain south please..(and west from what I've just read). Since its the lawn thread, my lawns ok, but would like a little more qpf please and thanks. Last 2 weekend were a lot of hype w/ little in the way of fanfair (regarding the broad wet looks that were being touted on some of the models (moreso in the mid/short term- which doesnt bode well for upcoming winter shenanigan's). I even cancelled a trip to WVA on the bike w/ my wife as we were leary of too much rain being advertised. Hope ya'll r having a dandy summer.
-
Thx pal. It is what it is and I'll get through. Wishing you lots of pool time and Champagne of beers while doing it.
-
Sure is challenging to deal w/. Wishing you all the best w/ yours.

Happy Summer all. Hoping the spring was enjoyable. Been a rather challenging one for me (parents), but they're still here, so I'll still consider myself lucky. Just hoping to get through it w/ a tinge of sanity left in my soul. Here's to the start of shorter nights and the lead up to autumn and winter "fun" - or lack thereof. Cant wait to see how big the Nino gets and what it leads to here. FWIW My grass is cooked, but I mowed for fun last night as I'm getting away for a long overdue weekend (as much stuff has been put on hold due to the parent thingy). My sons wedding's gonna happen no matter come 9/16 - and I'll get to see my daughter for the first time since Christmas (cancelled trip due to above mess). Cant wait. Have a good one.

We'll... you're wrong, Back er down 20. I'd wager you (and your pal of course) are the only 2 that took offense to it. Like EVERYONE does in here rather frequently, it was a joke and in this case in reference to 3 little piggys as bubbles posted. Thats all...nothing more. Funny how some in here question or call out others at will, yet when called out..undies get wound a bit tight. Poor form. Jabs are give n take....not one sided. Like others, I get my fair share. NBD. Some in here need to remember that. Hope everyone elses stick shack like mine is ok. My cousin lost a huge tree in middletown n took out his garage. I'll offer to bring chainsaws over to help him tomorrow if needed. Believe it or not I'm nice like that. Ok, like the wind, this blows....I'm done with it. Heres Maytowns stats. Start something.....LOL. I guess the logic in me thinks it wouldn't be shaking at sub 50 mph wind and after reading some time ago about how well your house was built, it just sounded a bit surprising. That's all. I'm sure some damage will be reported, but our December fropa was notably more IMBY. And I ALWAYS hope for everyones houses sake, they faired just fine. Once again, why I'm no big fan of "severe". to all you severe lovers, enjoy the rest of your fropa/whatevs. I'm not here to ruin it for you, but I'm happy it wasnt worse. Winds sustained at 30+ over here, but so far the limbs that are ready to fall out of my big oak, are still dangling above. -

huh. Your house built of twigs? Just a decent fropa here but as anticipated, but meh compared to what I've been reading the last couple days. post frontal was stronger than pre frontal, but not by much. NWS saying max gust was 48. That's comparable to a decent Tboomer to me. No biggie. -

although Im no severe fan, all of this wind chatter has my intrigue, so I took a peek. Ok, I'm impressed...if it verifies.
