  1. barely wet the ground in my hood. I could tell that Etown got rocked a bit though. lots of leaves/debris
  2. I'm thinking after last years miss....many are afraid to start this thread in July..... Let's talk in 3 months....
  3. My son and i were talking about how nice the grass is for July (other than a bit of stubborn crabgrass), and no doubt the rain has helped to keep things lush despite the temp anomaly. If we keep it up, the corn harvest should be a banner one. (i always hope that for our farmers - and my belly as we love sweet corn)
  4. Just parsing over overnights and it appears that with the exception of a short warm period next week, a rather benign period is setting up into the extended. WAR is basically non existent (per GFS/GEFS) and temps are tolerable. I think we'll all take some "normal" weather for a change. Seeing that we are 5.2 deg above normal for July, I'm happy with that. If one believes the GFS suite, it looks like Aug may start on the "cool" side. Looking forward to less sweating.
  5. Never heard of scud cloud. I've learned something today. thx To me it looks like tight rotation that captures clouds/debris/water droplets....but yes over land. Was just an uneducated guess coupled with a hint of logical deductions.
  6. I've seen the green wall before. My guess is major uplift causing wall of water to form. Thats what I've always thought it to be anyway. wind was rather "swirly" last evening. Reminded me of snow squalls. MMMMMM.....SNOWsqualls...
  7. watrerspouts in area of tight rotation. Look at cloud curvature.
  8. agreed. "best" storm of year so far. Lots of T and L in my area. Ponding in neighbors YARD this AM. Never have seen that before.
  9. It dumped on us last evening. No rain guage, but it it was a gully washer for about 1/2 hour. Monsoon season is now in full effect.....
  10. 95 at KLNS right now. I can see airport from clients office. Bakin.......
  11. I'd think turf fields might just suck a bit in heat/humidity like this. I know when my kid played soccer, she said it was x deg hotter than natural grass. Yuk
  12. and on a weather board, I fully expect discussion, so dont think I'm trying to stop that. Its what we do here....heck I'm here and usually not. I guess i just cant stay away from you guys. Guess I'm gettin soft in my old age. I'm talking about outside of here and all of the OMG i never saw it like this before.....blah blah...
  13. I just hope that folks realize that even though we have social media and a gazillion alerts incoming....its just a good ol' fashioned heat wave. No need to get all hyperbolic in over discussing it. Its gonna be hot....but its been hot before and it'll be hot again. Now that i just turned 50, I can see the ol' timer in me coming out. lol
  14. Just to dangle a carrot for those who dislike the heat, a respite appears to be on the way. Tues at 18z. I'll take it. 500 has flow out of NW and if it were 6 months from now, Lake effect would be crankin.....
  15. just parsing over new GooFuS and Saturday appears locked in on cooking us. Friday/Sun have ticked back a bit. But thats just model run watching and not looking at synoptics. Find a pool, and stay close to it.....only to leave it when beers empty.
  16. uh....good luck w/ that one bud. My yard also awaits my mower....should have hit it last night, but went for a ride instead #priorities :).
  17. Next week the flow at 500 looks like another big push of heat for latter half of the week is headed this way with pig ridge from central basin east, but IF we can survive it, wayouttherville looks like to get rather refreshing with a nice trough in the east and NW flow. Just a verbatim extrapolation. 4 day pool party at Sauss's???
  18. wow. not good. I'm saving myself from the MA thread until time to stir up the pot...WINTER !! just kiddin....(sorta).
  19. When breathing makes you sweat........yeah, that's the stuff i hate. Was up at the cabin and still sweat my arse off. and thank goodness it's raining.....its been almost a whole 12 hours since i last saw it. sheesh.
  20. Who got 135" of snow to the south west Wow!! I went through Cashtown on the bike on Sunday. Snow was still visible in the shaded areas......... He lives in a rather beautiful area, and after going through it, i can see how his local can do well. Especially at elevation.
  21. the difference to me is that in the winter CTP is LAST to hoist em..... in the summer, they get trigger happy. JMO and in the end, we often end up the same.....empty handed.
  22. if you are paying for a motel...... it's not FREE pal.... Just pokin at ya, but i agree. Never did the white noise thing till a couple guys started putting fans on at cabin, no matter the season. I sleep like a kittin because of it.
