  1. as I'm commissioned sales....they want me to get whatever i possibley can right now, so I too am lucky. But to every unemployed "non essential" person.....you ARE essential and the backbone of business. The business minded part of the convos realizes that, and some of us need you to do well, know and appreciate that. I have never placed business above life and death, but there are many ways to die, and wide scale unemployment and the stresses it puts on 10's of millions right now is ABSOLUTELY an important part of the conversation. I too understand the fear, but agree 1000%, that we cant do this forever. At some point we are going to have to pull our pants on and get back at it. Remember folks....as sad as it is, we all will die of something at sometime. Fortunately we live in a time where science and technology can bend that curve, but that said, something WILL get us in the end. Thats just me being a dieheard realist, and not afraid of what may get me, but to each is own.
  2. Is that a problem?? We do need to open up someday soon. If one payed attention early on, we've known for almost 3 weeks now that this was going to be the worst period, and that mitigation would take hold and flatten the curve. Bye and large this is evolving as expected (macro scale here). There should be no surprise in that. Im gessing some dont live in the private sector like i do. Anyone involved in management HAS to be talking about this. That discussion does not negate the legitimate concerns of COVID 19 whatsoever, but it ABSOLUTELY is the main part of the conversation. I will constantly go to the CDC H1N1 vs CV 19 graphs at the end of this pandemic to see what the end result really looks like. From what i've seen, he has never said now....but he has said as soon as possible and with consult to his advisors. Unless i'm watching the wrong president, thats been the general theme of his stance on business. While I don't like his persona at all, and he is quite "unpresidential", I feel rather confident in the steps taken by his team, and I'm not here to judge every word they say....nor will i live and die by it, but I'm absolutely paying attention... While he often makes me cringe....he is spot on in his "we cannot make the cure be worse than the cause" approach..... There HAS to be a balance...like it or not. This is uncharted territory and while there are always various ways to look at this, they ALL need considered. Hope yall are well. Looking forward to the other side. Nut
  3. fixed. this is Pa ya know. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying spring. I hate this.....this sucks.... Is what it is.......bored outta my friggin skull...but the honeydoo list will be gone when the all clear sounds....gonna enjoy living life again. Be well. Nut
  4. Thanks man. We'll be ok, but I'm more concerned about the "coming back" part. We should have jobs to come back to, but the damage to business/industries is being done, and we wont just ROAR back in action. It will take months and months. That's when the real damage to non tax payer funded industries will be realized. This has been my worry for some time....and NO....I'm not forgetting for one second about the root cause for this. We need a steady hand on the wheel, and I will say that the federal response has been comprehensive and overall, I think they are doing a rather admirable job....all things considered. Yes, there are challenges and shortcomings for sure, but given the overall scope of the situation..... I suggested over a week ago that we need to be cautious at how hard we sound the alarms for this very reason. We cannot afford fear and panic to overwhelm....and we are teetering. Be well everyone.
  5. after today, my son, myself and possibly my daughter, will all be filing for unemployment.....likely (hopefully) temporary, but this is not good.
  6. If i read correctly 77 deg is the threshold. One needs to remember that many of the infections in the "warmer" locals, are likely being brought in, and the spread is likely to be much less.
  7. I think it would do a lot of good for the mood of people stuck at home, and kids can go outside and enjoy it. Thats a big win to me. Blizz, bring it home. Peeps stay off the roads, so the crew can clean them and keep the truckers rollin'.
  8. I'm glad you clarified, cause I was about to troll the Sh!t outta you Your point is a fair one, but with the limited travel right now (due to peeps not working, I'd think the widespread issues would be minimized, and trucks can make it through snow without much issue (my bud drives one and says they are safer than a car in a snowstorm). another way to look at it is that it will keep peeps at home (more than they currently are). Every coin has 2 sides..... Be well gang.
  9. What issues has it caused up there? please share and cite sources. For 97+% it is no big deal and IS similar to a flue....or less. https://lancasteronline.com/news/local/how-many-covid--cases-are-in-pa-monday-afternoon/article_bc20b4be-6469-11ea-a496-6fc234ad2b77.html
  10. This x 1000. Spot on. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY we could control the spread from foreign countries without halting ALL travel in and out. We missed nothing except the CDC's opportunity to get good testing set up. They blew it. Pres. contacted private sector companies and were now getting caught up. Some need to get off the political soapboxes and realize that there was NO WAY TO STOP THIS FROM COMING HERE. Good God people. Use your heads a bit....not your biased media
  11. @Wmsptwx You've got to be shittin me....is this for WSPT or the entire state?
  12. good point...Let me restate....emergency slush funds.
  13. Nope....not my intended thought at all. If people dont have jobs to come back to, that FAR FAR more worrisome in my book. Many people are worried at many levels, and there's not 1 reason to say its unwarranted. Many of us will not enjoy a paid stay cation at home....and many may not have something to go back to when the all clear sounds. Many smaller businesses do not have a nest egg large enough to survive this downturn, and some dont have proper insurance to carry them if a govt mandated shutdown occurs.....THAT's my worry. and as I'm in sales, I'm constantly in contact w/ business leaders/purchasing/sales/marketing. Lets just say most of my convos' in the last week have not been good whatsoever. Again gang, I'm thinking outside of my little box and listening to them....NOT cable news, as they represent collateral damage outside of Covid Pandemic 2020. Trust me....their fears are real and 100% qualified/warranted.
  14. Look at the post/response and who put lol and laugh emojis. 2 people "laughed"....thats warranted a plural response.
  15. while I'm worried about 401k, thats really not at all what my points are in reference to. I am thinking about many many others...not myself. I personally am divested into real estate and 401k, and my statements arent based on ME, its based on MASSES.... Bud, i'm hoping/praying we get into warmer times (yes i typed that....) as from what i hear it doesnt like it above 77 deg F.
  16. Thats already a done deal if this lasts more than a few weeks. We need to get out of this as quickly as possible, or get things back to as normal as we reasonably can quickly. People have nest eggs, but not big ones, and it will take YEARS to recover from CURRENT status. We will not roar out of this....no way....no how....and as soon as the next alarm sounds.....Lord help those of us who are left.
  17. I"m glad you guys are laughing....I'm not one bit. Not 1 bit of humor in anything I stated. I amended my post to add source for you skeptics. 100% written by me.
  18. You forgot a tens of millions of other people dude........ How about any hourly worker.... How about anyone in manufacturing....... How about fully commissioned sales. How about travel industry How about the restaurant/bar industry. How about anyone that supports the state/govt run systems (hourly). They say they will get a bail out. Do you realize how many people are potentially represented above?? Many of us will not get a bail out, and if we don't have a company to come back to work for.....it will not cover the utilities or groceries, so pick one and do without the other (oh, that's assuming we all have our homes paid off and no mortgage.) Were doing SOOOO much to truly protect sooo few.... Not for 1 second do i diminish the loss of ANY life, but, our actions/inaction's etc will have a much farther reaching long term economic impact to the 10's of milions that will not get bailed out in the private sector.....worse yet, they may not have a job/company to come back to. We need our jobs. I know this will cause me some bashing....don't care. I'm not going to debate w/ any either. Its how I feel, and I'm not expecting to have a bunch of likes. I'm scared shitless right now. Clients are cancelling so much work.... Some facts to back up what may be deemed narrow minded statements: H1N1 cases - https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/yearinreview/yir5.htm Veteran Suicide -https://iava.org/blogs/2019-national-veteran-suicide-prevention-annual-report/ The Department of Veterans Affairs released its 2019 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report on Friday which showed that at least 60,000 veterans have died by suicide between 2008 and 2017. In 2017, more than 6,100 veterans died by suicide, an increase of 2% over 2016 and a total increase of 6% since 2008. During that same time period, the veteran population decreased 18% from 23 million to 19.8 million. Global Cancer - 2002 - https://ourworldindata.org/cancer While it is absolutely necessary to protect the citizens most at risk 65+, and those w/ compromised health, but I'm nauseous at what the death toll of businesses will be..... How many jobs lost....... loss of healthcare as a result....... Save a spot in the food line for me would ya..... I've spoken w/ medical professionals, clients, coworkers, and we all think this is crazy and could do much more damage societally then the Covid 19 will ever do. While we differ on the best approach, the millions that you hear that think its overblown, also have underlying fear of losing everything. Whats the bigger loss in the end? Our society cant handle the run on assistance/food/shelter/healthcare for those affected by what I've stated above. Just think about it outside of your little circles folks. Futhermore, we are now setting a precedent for every other flue/virus to do this all over again. We cannot sustain this kind of hysteria every year, and many will not sustain this one. Private sector is scared shitless right now....and we should be. When the public sector sees the loss in taxes due to unemployment, they too will feel the burn alright. Look at the graphs I posted, and study them long and hard before you decide to troll/bash. No graph above caused mass hysteria or runs on toilet paper FFS. 50% of all that get NCovid 19. (or already have), will likely not even be reported....Imagine how many had H1N1 and didnt report it....and i have a compromised immune system btw. Watch what you wish for folks...... Back to the cave.....after I wash my hands. Edited to add sources for Atomix and any other who thinks I make this terrible stuff up...wow. The rest is me myself and the opinions of many that i respect. One a head ER nurse at Wellsboro solders and Sailors hospital One Advance EMT at same hospital. Owner of Hiltz propane systems local pizza shop owner (Sals). And many just normal worker bees like myself who are concerned. The web is full of information. Took 5 min to find my sources. Continue w/ your panic.....
  19. Looks like most got into the goods. Carthage big winner. Hoping to be up there in 2 weeks to play in whatevers left. Enjoy the winter wonderland. What a dud winter down in southern PA. Living vicariously through you all. WXwatcher007, nice videos. Thanks for showing us what snow looks like :)
  20. Dude...I'm telling ya. You MUST do it. SOOO fun. If you go to Brantingham, they used to rent them (Kovach's I think). Then stop across the street and have a pint at the Pine Tree for me (and feed the deer). God I love that place.
  21. I'll bring you a 6 pack bro....thats 3 MHLL's a piece. Your worth it. and with that I sign off w my favorite emoji..........EVER!!
  22. Fixed and let me help you.... I'm out...........TTFN gang.... dont worry, you wont miss me too much. Hopefully I'll be back. This wasn't fun and I'm gettin tired to losing to the warmies, wherever they are. Gonna go enjoy it all the same. Bigger things to get upset about in life. This surely isn't one of em. Happy early spring peeps! If i see a change, I'll come help post snowmaps for Blizz.
  23. Absolutely. When I mentioned the bolded earlier, thats what my thoughts were as well. Let that bad boy spray and it gets everyone into something, but not likely one steady streamer just parked over Montague/Carthage or northern local where they get 36'' and just to the north and south 6-12". If you've ever snowmobiled up there, it is almost surreal to be in one area that you can barely get around w/ so much snow, and then within 15 min ride....your almost searching for it to get through. It's really something to witness if you have the chance. I was up there around 10ish years back when they got 11' from a multi day event. I have pics if I can find them, I'll post them. Cams looking good....even here in northern PA. Hope it piles up big for yall. Nut
