  1. Yeah. As I just said to Jeff, I should have worded it differently. Not sure if any numbers have been determined for affects beyond 90 or so days after being diagnosed. But signs seem to be pointing to that happening for many. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/07/brain-fog-heart-damage-covid-19-s-lingering-problems-alarm-scientists
  2. Yeah... I probably should have worded it differently... I have not seen definitive percentages etc, but it appears that there are more people suffering effects of this for long periods of time than dying. Survival rate is of course very high for most age groups. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30701-5/fulltext
  3. Much higher numbers of people with long term health issues after “recovering” from the ‘Vid though. Heart, lungs.
  4. A couple of weeks old, but there is a theory (not a study) that mask wearing may act as a quasi-vaccine. Interesting https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20200909/could-your-mask-be-a-kind-of-vaccine-against-covid-19 Similar articles abound. original NEJM article. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2026913
  5. Excess mortality is a good measure. It’s a pretty heinous illness and has killed 200k people. To say those people would have died anyway would apply to any pandemic. This is up there with some of the worst we have encountered in the US. And that number is with social distancing, masks, stay at homes etc and modern medical care. https://hub.jhu.edu/2020/09/01/comorbidities-and-coronavirus-deaths-cdc/
  6. I’m sure there will be more but it seems to be somewhat rare at this point. Hopefully our immune systems can squash a second infection.
  7. There have only been two documented reinfections, maybe this is a third. Of the millions of infections, these reinfections don't even move the needle. Time will tell though, but I think we would have heard of more cases if it were a big problem. Yeah The two others were confirmed RE infections via genetic analysis or something.
  8. Our guy has been offering a decent number of older films for cheap prices. We booked it for under $100 but we will buy lots of snacks to help him out. 25 maximum people per theater. If there is something you want to see that he isn't offering he will make attempts to work a deal with the distributors. There will just be 8 of us in the theater for this one. He has been selling popcorn, candy, etc since back in April or so to try to stay open. We have eaten a ton of popcorn!
  9. Our local cinema has been allowing small private showings of films for a number of weeks. I just booked a screen to show Empire Strikes Back for my family for next Saturday.... a 40 year old film that I own in several formats
  10. I think we drive past there on our way to Santa's Village (well, when the kids were younger)
  11. Those will be pretty nice places, but prob pricey. The Mt. Washington is very $$$
  12. I have seen news stories showing this. Of course those don’t attract viewers and readers. But as the old saying goes, if it bleeds, it leads. Back in the first couple of months of this, John Krazinski (The Office, Jack Ryan, etc) did a series of awesome YouTube videos called The Good News. It was all positive stories. We enjoyed those greatly
  13. Speaking of the media, I think I just caught a glimpse of Cory on a WCVB about the closing of a banquet facility
  14. Should they not be reporting on this? It is showing what can happen if precautions are not taken seriously.
  15. 7 Maine deaths now tied to that wedding. 6 from a rehabilitation center
  16. Fortunately it looks like we are on the downside of the second wave. Hopefully that continues. Although with colder weather setting in and people heading indoors...
  17. I love me a well done professional show in the proper places...but every yahoo blowing up their neighborhood nightly gets tiring. It has been very quiet in my area wrt fireworks this year
  18. You can enjoy the strong cane and tornado. I will admire from afar
  19. Yeah, it was ghastly. Even if the current rate continued for two full years (which it won’t) we wouldn’t even be at 700k. Not that that is good.
