Seems like the cold front has gone through here. Temp down from 66F to 60.7F. Heavily overcast and with the smoke layer above the clouds it is pretty dark out there. Models have been spitting out a thin line of precip tonight right through my area. About .25" or so. I'll believe it when i see it.
Euro also develops the Gulf system. Has it drifting around coming west to about Brownsville and then recurves ENE and comes ashore in Louisiana as a 986mb storm.
12Z Euro. Let's end this drought in a big way. I guess just got to slow down Teddy a bit and strengthen the high to the northeast of us. Have the storm come in from a SE to NW direction over the Gulf Stream.
Smoke is now half way across the Atlantic. Paulette seems to be sweeping it northeastward. Still smoke coming across the Continental US. Wonder if there is enough smoke that will circle the poleward regions to influence temperatures to a slight degree. Don't know if it would be a net gain or departure. Smoke lowers daytime temps as the sun is now lowering in angle but must increase nightime temperatures too?
Okay, gotta ask. What is with all the Dave Epstein jokes? Many years ago I was invited to go to the movies with some friends and he was there. I'll reserve judgement on the experience but needless to say I remember it all these years later.
Probably most of you don't remember when Mt St Helens erupted. I was living in Boston at the time. The smoke cloud didn't last too long over New England but for a few hours it was very noticeable and people were talking about it.
41F for a low. Colder lows coming for the weekend but I stay toasty up on the hill. Widespread frosts/freezes to the coast have to happen before I frost up here. The settlers of 1795 sure knew where to site houses to extent growing seasons on both ends.
Thank you Alex. The new camera is great. I can even see the rain drops splashing in the water. Now I can watch the snow line on Mt Washington and the leaves turn. It will happen fast now that your going to be having nightly frosts. You had a great summer. Seemed like less upslope clouds with endless sunshine with super warm temperatures.
I'll give you a call soon to catchup on things

It's Mid September so it's time for a NNE cold season thread. Let's hope for lots of storms!
To start the thread off I'll ask a question. How is COVID going to affect the ski industry? Could be tough with lots of people breathing on each other in lodges. On the other hand this was a busy tourist season (at least in the Lakes Region of NH) so maybe people are more apt to stay local in New England and not travel to warmer climates?? Thoughts?
Welcome to the boards. Not too many of us posters up here so don't hesitate to post. I'm a lot more active in the colder months and with the drought there hasn't been too much to post about. I'll start posting more. I just noticed that I created the NNE warm season thread back in April so I guess it's time to make a new 2020-2021 cold season thread.
AC's came out of the windows yesterday. It was cloudy earlier this morning and with another night in the 40's decided to burn some scrap wood in the woodburning stove to take the chill out.
68/57 with a nice breeze now.
I loved the original location because I could judge visibility, snow rain line on Mt Washington and even tell how much recent snow has fallen on the deck and railing. You can never have enough cams, I have 3 going!
Alex, hope you and the family are doing well. Yes, it will soon be the season I'll be nagging you to get the camera fixed. Loved the old one that showed the top of Mt Washington.
0.0000 yesterday and for the past week
Few days ago it looked like "Sally" might make a run for the east coast. Models are now showing recurve but it's way out in fantasy land
Time to take out the AC up here
No rain for me up here unless more of a north trend. We just took a 8 mile bike ride. Many small trees have drooping leaves. Not turning color just drooping or even turning brown on some small trees.
