  1. Surface well down about 15 feet. Don't use it anymore as we have the deep drill well. Rain is coming to the rescue next week
  2. Here too. Really came on fast the past few days. Very, very early. I would even guess that peak might be this weekend for the Whites and maybe even me. Heavy rain next week may take down a lot of leaves.
  3. DIT, next weeks axis could be NW but there are more systems to follow. GFS shows that if we look all the way out. Impossible to know exact winners and losers but we are going into a more active pattern and should be able to chip away at these deficits.
  4. I bet you are okay but every well is different. Hopefully the access of heavy rain (for you) will setup over NNE and start replenishing ground water. Make a note as to well water level, how much qpf you think you have had this summer and note what you get before the ground freezes. That way you will have a guide in future dry spells.
  5. I want that Golden pup. You are lucky!
  6. Great day today. 77F. A friend invited us for a sail on Newfound Lake. Color is coming on very fast and very early in my hood. My birch and aspen grove has really exploded with color the past 2 days. We never had a freeze last week up here on my hill so it must be stress related to the drought.
  7. Color is coming on strong and very early in the Newfound Area. My birches and aspens especially. I usually don't peak till Oct 18th or so. Trees must be conserving moisture as they start to go dormant. That's my hypothesis
  8. 12Z Euro with rain totals through the end of run
  9. 72.6F Mostly sunny but lots of hazy today. Not the high smoke like last week but hazy at lower levels of atmosphere.
  10. 12Z GFS Total Rain from the next event
  11. PF. It just didn't work out here. There was a fair amount of smoke but not enough in my opinion to make it such a dud. We had the cirrus. Just don't know why it was not better.
  12. Looks like we could have a really great sunset over a wide area of New England around 645pm this evening. Teddy has a pretty solid cirrus deck over eastern sections. It's clear in Vermont and NY state so the sun should illuminate the underside of the clouds. We will see how this works out.
  13. Steve, I watch the Hampton Beach webcam but if you have time could you suggest a few that you watch? Thanks
  14. 35.8F Window boxes and gardens live yet again. No frost yet.
  15. I guess this is the setup we want to yank up a cane real fast like in 38. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how we look at it the parade of Cape Verde type storms has come to a stop. Wouldn't Wilfred be in the right place about now to take advantage of this if the storm had not been shredded apart?
  16. Teddy will be passing by Tuesday. Cirrus shield should cover Eastern New England while it is clear to the west. That should provide an epic sunset if everything works out. Sunsets and big waves are about the only thing we can expect from Theodore.
  17. We will see what happens tonight on my hill. The surrounding areas have to go into the 20's for me to get a frost. Picked lots of Concord Grapes today. Keeps the house smelling great. GFS has basically no more precipitation for the rest of the month. Euro does the same but has a system coming in around Sept 29th. If that can be delayed wonder if some stations in New England might record their driest month ever?
  18. Balmy 34.1F plants get to live another day. Lite the wood stove this morning.
  19. Welcome. Nice that we are adding more NNE posters.
  20. Subtropical Storm Alpha has formed. Heading to Portugal. So the Gulf storm would be Beta. Gets confusing with the Greek Alphabet because after Beta it's Gamma then Delta.
  21. It seems we are naming more semi tropical systems than we use to. Is that why we are running so far into the Greek alphabet. If we took out all the semi tropical systems what letter would we be at?
  22. I had .05" ish. The Euro snuffed this out a couple days ago. Thin strip of showers through C New England.
  23. .04" rain last night. First since Sept 2's .25
  24. I'm wondering how fast the Gulf surface waters warm back up after the passage of tropical cyclone like Sally. Does a couple of days of bright sun do much in September? Gulf waters must be pretty well turned up. Anyone knowledgeable in this area?
