  1. Welcome to the boards. Not too many of us posters up here so don't hesitate to post. I'm a lot more active in the colder months and with the drought there hasn't been too much to post about. I'll start posting more. I just noticed that I created the NNE warm season thread back in April so I guess it's time to make a new 2020-2021 cold season thread.
  2. AC's came out of the windows yesterday. It was cloudy earlier this morning and with another night in the 40's decided to burn some scrap wood in the woodburning stove to take the chill out. 68/57 with a nice breeze now.
  3. I loved the original location because I could judge visibility, snow rain line on Mt Washington and even tell how much recent snow has fallen on the deck and railing. You can never have enough cams, I have 3 going!
  4. Alex, hope you and the family are doing well. Yes, it will soon be the season I'll be nagging you to get the camera fixed. Loved the old one that showed the top of Mt Washington.
  5. 0.0000 yesterday and for the past week Few days ago it looked like "Sally" might make a run for the east coast. Models are now showing recurve but it's way out in fantasy land Time to take out the AC up here
  6. Lock this in. Then the 18Z GFS brings a powerful cane up the coast after hour 300. Drought ova!
  7. Uh oh. 18Z GFS hours 300 on takes Sally or Teddie to Miami 960mb then north to Cape Hatteras and over NYC. Is it a lock?
  8. No rain for me up here unless more of a north trend. We just took a 8 mile bike ride. Many small trees have drooping leaves. Not turning color just drooping or even turning brown on some small trees.
  9. Fires just exploding in California today. Towering pyrocumulonimbos creating shadowing. Wonder if it's raining ash downstream?
  10. Few musings... After furiously watering the lawn all summer I gave up a couple of days ago. I can water an area for an hour and then I dig down 1/2" and it's rock hard. The ground is so dry below the surface that watering doesn't do much good especially with a large lawn with a well. Not going to push it anymore. Interesting to see the Colorado snow maps. After days of 90's I wonder how much can accumulate on grass? The soil must have so much residual heat. If Denver can get 7" that really cancels out the "ground is still too warm for the snow to stick theory". I never gave much credence to that anyhow. Okay, back to endless boring, nice weather. Next interesting thing to watch is if "Sally" can sneak under the ridge next week and threaten the US. Love to get some tropical rain up here.
  11. Interesting picture. This one was taken from a jet. At first it seemed odd the pyrocumulous didn't match up to the fire but this shows the same thing. Probably the same anvil and fire.
  12. Typical Denver It's 97F (1pm local time) in Denver today. Will the ground be too warm for the snow to stick?
  13. 5.19" July and August but 1.56" last week helded the brown lawn
  14. Wow. Nice with more showers later .60" 11am for me
  15. 937mb. Port Arthur is going to take a beating. Wonder if heating oil is produced there? Maybe time to quickly fill up the oil tanks before prices go up the next few days??
  16. Heavy thunderstorm with pea size hail winding down. .50" in about 10 minutes. Top wind gust 27mph
  17. 84/66 Line of storms approaching. This should be the first solid hit of summer. Really looking forward to the rain. Webcam should be interesting to watch www.bridgewaternhweather.com
  18. Since you posted an hour ago another burst of convection has started. So the waxing and waning as modeled seems to be happening
  19. Very interesting and unusual situation coming up with Marco and Laura. Everything would have to come together just right (or wrong depending on your viewpoint) but we could have 2 land falling hurricanes within 24 hours coming ashore at the same place. It could be a bad situation for New Orleans. If Marco came ashore just SW of the city it would drive water into Lake Pontchartrain. If Marco then turned more west and weakened quickly the water would not drain back into the Gulf. Lots of "ifs" but Laura could follow the same path driving more water into the canal system. This will be fascinating from a meteorological standpoint to see how this all plays out.
  20. Just looked at the 12Z GFS. Possibilities of 2 storms hitting the same area in Louisiana, one after another.
  21. Wow on the 12Z GFS. A possibility of 2 hurricanes hitting the same area one after another? Interesting weather for Louisiana
  22. PF, This is a beautiful picture. Even the framing is perfect. Nice to see him so healthy
  23. 67F Cool breeze with light rain just ending. One rumble of thunder. .03"
  24. I'll be happy with my 2". I hope this is not a week of everything sliding NW to SE just north of me so I can smell the rain at times without receiving a drop
