  1. This is getting more interesting. I was worried we would be too far north.
  2. Hum, the end of the week is starting to look interesting for CNE. Still too far out to honk but maybe this will be a book end season? 24" on Dec 17th and a nice dump again?
  3. Forsythia opened yesterday. Even a couple of flowering trees. It's way too early and a quick look at the weather pattern and it looks active. Hopefully we can slow things down this week or else we are going to be in trouble with late season freezes
  4. Grass really greening fast here. Trees starting the bud out quickly. I hope things slow down especially for our apple trees.
  5. This event will be on the news non stop in the months leading up to the eclipse.
  6. I hope the weather 3 years from today is as nice. The astronomical event of our lifetime in NNE. Total solar eclipse. Northern VT is closest to centerline. Book your Stowe trip now!
  7. 3 years from today (April 8 2024) Much of NNE will see a total eclipse of the sun. N VT is the place to be. Fingers crossed it is a clear day.
  8. For me when the forsythia bloom is the first real sign that the trees are about to green up? Are any in bloom yet in SNE?
  9. The big ocean storm is spinning well to the east and the western edge of the clouds is bisecting New England. Looking to my south it looks like mammatus clouds but I have never seen them outside of thunderstorm activity. What would you classify these as?
  10. Well we managed to get our man made pond filled but here we go again, right into a drought. Wasn't it just a few days ago the GFS had widespread inches and inches of rain in the medium range?
  11. Crisp April day today. Partly cloudy with flurries but only made it to 30F Only 2.25" of snow in March. I don't keep good records but that is amazingly low. We usually get at least some snow in April but perhaps my 62" might be close to my final. Give this season a D+
  12. 34.6F Light snow. About .50" in stratus Vis 2 miles looks like raining below my elevation
  13. A few trees down around the area. Power has flickered a few times. Those settlers that built our house in 1795 were sure smart in siting it. Rising terrain on our northwest fields and a line of tall oaks keeps the wind down. Even with my tall anemometer well over roof line my highest gust has been 33mph.
  14. 38.3F Moderate rain. .63" Looking at webcams and mesonet data the snow line must be around 2500 feet? Snowing on top of Cannon and Wildcat at 4000 feet. It's 32.2F at 2300 feet on the Mt Washington auto road.
  15. Scott, I hope they are paying you well to be out in a day like this! Here in the tropics of C NH 37.4F Moderate rain and wind.
  16. 36.4/35 Drizzle. I watched this storm all week. At one point it looked like a blue bomb. Now as the precip comes in I wonder if we can score a few flakes at the start?
  17. Fun weather day. 3 separate thunderstorms gave me .40". Broke into the warm air this afternoon and the temperature jumped to 67F. Squall line moved quickly SE around 4pm. I got the drone up for a quick look around. I am not as brave with my drone as those tornado chasers so didn't keep the drone up long. Would have been interesting to get it right into the shelf cloud but not risking $1000. Here is the video
  18. 2 thunderstorms so far today. Sun is just breaking through temp heading up. 55F Some nice clearing to the west. Severe Thunderstorm Watch for VT
  19. 51F In the low clouds, vis 0. Thunderstorm in progress but with only light to moderate rain. Couple of days ago I thought we might pull off a blue bomb on Sunday but that threat has faded. Only about 25% snowcover remains. 62" on the season but as I have posted several times my largest storm has been only 3.5" other than the Dec 17th 2 footer.
  20. I drove around Newfound yesterday and the ice look light and solid except dark at the deepest part to freeze over. Couple of Bob Houses still up. Stinson is higher but smaller so just don't know.
  21. I always judge true spring when the yellow forsythia open. According to my Dad they are just doing that now in Metro Baltimore. I usually run about 3 weeks behind them and you in Randolph probably close to a full month. This year has been weird with so much warmth in March that we are ahead of schedule up here so maybe that gap is far less?
  22. This is how we do a warm season thread in NNE!
  23. I made a NNE warm season thread. Let's discuss over there since we have passed the equinox.
  24. Temperatures in the 60's. Snow is melting. Spring is here, or is it??
  25. Only 24" for the 12/17 storm and not one storm over 3.5" this winter other than that. 62" on the season. Unless something happens soon I will be below my 80-85" average. The big concern for me is drought. Not a lot of snow to melt. Missed the rain yesterday for the most part.
