  1. Fun weather day. 3 separate thunderstorms gave me .40". Broke into the warm air this afternoon and the temperature jumped to 67F. Squall line moved quickly SE around 4pm. I got the drone up for a quick look around. I am not as brave with my drone as those tornado chasers so didn't keep the drone up long. Would have been interesting to get it right into the shelf cloud but not risking $1000. Here is the video
  2. 2 thunderstorms so far today. Sun is just breaking through temp heading up. 55F Some nice clearing to the west. Severe Thunderstorm Watch for VT
  3. 51F In the low clouds, vis 0. Thunderstorm in progress but with only light to moderate rain. Couple of days ago I thought we might pull off a blue bomb on Sunday but that threat has faded. Only about 25% snowcover remains. 62" on the season but as I have posted several times my largest storm has been only 3.5" other than the Dec 17th 2 footer.
  4. I drove around Newfound yesterday and the ice look light and solid except dark at the deepest part to freeze over. Couple of Bob Houses still up. Stinson is higher but smaller so just don't know.
  5. I always judge true spring when the yellow forsythia open. According to my Dad they are just doing that now in Metro Baltimore. I usually run about 3 weeks behind them and you in Randolph probably close to a full month. This year has been weird with so much warmth in March that we are ahead of schedule up here so maybe that gap is far less?
  6. This is how we do a warm season thread in NNE!
  7. I made a NNE warm season thread. Let's discuss over there since we have passed the equinox.
  8. Temperatures in the 60's. Snow is melting. Spring is here, or is it??
  9. Only 24" for the 12/17 storm and not one storm over 3.5" this winter other than that. 62" on the season. Unless something happens soon I will be below my 80-85" average. The big concern for me is drought. Not a lot of snow to melt. Missed the rain yesterday for the most part.
  10. Still about 80% snow cover in my hood except for my south facing fields. Deer are loving their first tastes of grass in months. 30 to 35 out there right now. Here is a short clip from the cam https://video.nest.com/clip/e5e3798575b04e3ea33c4900604316cc.mp4
  11. Rain has come to an end. Models were right on. .15" Snowcover is still around 80% in my hood with the exception of our south facing fields. 30-35 deer are around the house at the moment. Hard to count as so many are running around. Quick webcam clip I just made https://video.nest.com/clip/e5e3798575b04e3ea33c4900604316cc.mp4
  12. 39.6/37F Light rain up here. Maybe we can score a few flakes later. 80% snow cover remains
  13. 5F snow flurries and blowing snow Had some nice squalls last night. Everything is white again. Today is the 28th anniversary of the east coast Super Storm. I remember it well. Loaded up my Golden Retriever in Boston got in the truck and came up here to enjoy it.
  14. Speaking of heavy snow squalls and low visibility I see Denver is reporting .1 of a mile in SN+. Looking at the downtown webcam that is sure some heavy snow
  15. Yesterday the first patches of grass appeared. Today's sun and 35F helped the melt to continue. The lawn mowing crew of 15 have arrived too. They usually hit our fields first with the south exposure.
  16. I have posted a few times that I have not had more than 3.5" since Dec 17th. I am sure that has never happened before since I bought the house in 1989. I guess the good thing for you Phin is that even without any good synoptic storms this winter you have had a constant snow cover. Consider this a very low bar winter for you. It can only be better in future years even with cutters, the back side will always re whiten you up there.
  17. Over achiever in temperature this afternoon. 52 under searing March sun. First open grass patches on the south slopes. About 6" at the snow stake on level ground. My pond is coming up but it started out completely dry at the end of fall. Usually it will top off each spring but there is not a lot of snow left to melt. Need more qpf to bring the water table back up.
  18. UP to 47F Cold air always wins here
  19. 42.6F at almost 11am I was hoping for a few patches of grass on my steep south slopes but don't think it's going to happen.
  20. Lots of snow melt occurring today but with a frozen ground I assume most is just running off into rivers and streams. After a dry fall we have not had a lot of precipitation this winter. I hope this changes soon. Here is a map of % of normal precipitation over the last 90 days. Another dry week coming up.
  21. Wednesday afternoon. Still deep snow on south slopes. Depth down to 10" sunny areas. As we know in NNE, it's way too early to call in spring. 12Z GFS shows colder weather incoming with snow threats later next week.
  22. My high was 45.6F, first 45F of 2021. Did errands without a jacket. Felt so warm. With the warmth and sunshine the snowpack only decreased about 1/2" to 10.5"
  23. I'm at 60" which is somewhat behind what I should be. It has been boring for quite a stretch. The thing that stands out the most is not one storm above 3.5" this entire winter except the 24" in 12 hours on Dec 17th. Last summer was drought. I hope we don't go right back into one. Not going to be a lot of runoff this spring unless we get some synoptic storms.
  24. Just busted into the warm air. Went from 26 to 38F in a little more than 1 hour. Frickin deer are eating the bark off the baby apple trees. They have deer fencing but the 11" of pack is so hard they walk on top and can reach branches.
  25. Beautiful morning in the NH foothills. Bright sun is making it feel, well not as cold... Sorry to everyone on the other side of the mountains stuck in clouds. This is when I enjoy living on my side. Cloudy spring weather north of me and days and days of sunshine here. Snowpack is at 11" and it has a lot of water in it. I am hoping that 3 or 4 days of warm weather at least melt some bare spots on my southern slopes. Last night 17 deer wandered around looking for anything to eat but it's hard digging through glaciated snow
