  1. Meanwhile up here in the Lakes Region of NH this looks like quite a storm if we can stay all snow and not mix at the end. 12Z GFS puts out almost 1.60" liquid. I assume good ratios for the first part of the storm. Usually I am downsloped from the Whites to the NE but this has a more easterly component so more qpf.
  2. Bob Turk said he is going to have a couple of sleepless nights figuring out the rain/snow line thru Baltimore. He works Sunday night. Good luck down there. Where is your place? NE Maryland I think?
  3. The ice we had on Sunday is still covering driveways, walkways etc. CAD is so strong here even when we mix after a fropa we don't get much above freezing..anyhow 1/4" quick snowshower just now has covered up my icy driveway. Really hope we can get a bit of sun and over 32F today or tomorrow. I am not counting on it. Then the arctic blast and storm. Newfound Lake finally skimmed over. That is about on track, a little late.
  4. What a friggin cold day. Overcast. Finally made it up to 13F at 3pm. At the same time Boston is 43F and Concord NH just 30 miles south is 30F. Just no wind to scour out the icebox.
  5. 1215pm. Temperature still only 10.8F and seems like it is rising very slowly. Point and click has our high at 25F. Don't think that will work out, especially with solid overcast.
  6. Oh no. GFS tucks the storm so much that Boston and SE turns to rain and dryslots. Many days of model watching
  7. I had a low of -7.8F at my elevation. Up to -2.7F. Extremely hard to have a 0F high for me. I believe it has occurred for me once.
  8. With so much arctic air up here storms seem like they will be displaced well south. MD might have better chances than us
  9. Diamond dust tomorrow or tomorrow night? We have had not even a flurry since the first fropa last night. Snow has a gleaming icy crust. Totally clear skies right now as of 5pm
  10. Alex, tomorrow night is the night that the wind really dies off so you will plummet. What is your record low since moving up from Mass?
  11. Finally around 7pm we got up to 32F. Now 33.4F. Quick mix out that hopefully be enough to melt all the black ice around.
  12. 27.6F Black ice everywhere. I hope it mixes out before fropa. If not this ice is going nowhere. Then add a nice 1/2" snow squall with the front and lots of broken bones over the next few days.
  13. Get ready Phin. You are finally going to get a taste of real NNE cold. Last winter I barely got down to 0F. Way off my record of -19F. Take the kids out and do water experiments on Tuesday early. It can be fun to pour water on the car and have it freeze before it hits the ground etc.
  14. Up from 17 to 19.5F. ZR has stopped. Friends are at 104 dinner waiting for roads for to be treated. I can't get any info on Rt 93 up here. Don't see any crashes on cams
  15. Neighbors left here 30 minutes ago in Central NH to head to Boston. I warned them twice yesterday roads could be a disaster.
  16. Today we had to travel north to Littleton. There is more snow down here than in Lincoln and on the other side of Franconia Notch. Mostly sunny on the downslope side of the Whites and gray and with a few flakes just north. There is so much more sun down here. Although I love snow if it isn't going to do that then I'm all for sun and not what seems like endless clouds up north.
  17. 29.4F Just couldn't make it to freezing today. CAD always rules here.
  18. Phin's webcam is great. I can see the wind blowing as he is above the cold air. Meanwhile way down here it is still very cold 24F, almost noon. Nice snow refresher this morning.
  19. I was just going to post this. Look at the other side of the highway. Cars just all pulled over to the shoulder
  20. 22F Light snow just passed through with a heavy dusting. Cloudy at the moment
  21. Been watching from NNE. Congrats Balt/DC and southeast. Bob Turk is a friend of mine so lots of messaging the last 24 hours trying to get this storm right. Forecast was very good despite a sharp northern cutoff. Yesterday we talked about warm ground temperatures before a storm. I always thought that was a fallacy if you have good snow rates. This storm proved that. More snow on the ground down there than most of New England. With temperatures getting down to the teens tonight and only near freezing tomorrow there should be nice icicle growth weather.
