  1. 25.2 Very light snow. The temperature has remained steady since mid morning. Eyeballing about 1.25"
  2. I just realized Albany radar must be out, or is there just no precip?
  3. Mark, it's going to be interesting to see how much is washed away. Especially to your northeast. I bet the warm air doesn't make it to me until just about the end. Whether we stay in the 30s tomorrow or get into the warm air for a few hours will make a difference. I'm betting I will have a glaciated pack tomorrow night, at least to keep everything white. It will be fun to watch!
  4. In general doesn't the CAD over perform? It seems to in my hood. So many times the warm air gets just beyond Concord NH and then stalls.
  5. Boy, as soon what a mess this would be in my hood. 4" or so of snow, changing to rain and then back to snow. Once it changes to rain I would have to snowblow my driveway quickly or it would be an impossible slop to remove with snow falling on top. Much time for changes but another 2" qpf event seems likely
  6. One thing is for sure up here, Stein is gone. If the GFS verified another 3" of QPF incoming for Central NH. Snow to rain and if the trend of that coastal continues back to snow. I'm guessing more changes as the energy out west comes in to more sampled areas for the models
  7. So this is how you come up with your big snow totals. Blow that the other way and the powder just drops on you.
  8. What a beautiful night, last night. Full, supermoon and a snow laced landscape making it exceedingly bright. I was thinking how rare a night like this was. Maybe 2 supermoons in the winter months and then we need a very wet snowfall to have just taken place, no wind and clearing skies to make for a night like last night. I was not planning of taking any pictures but woke up around 2am and it was so bright I thought dawn had broke. I grabbed my cellphone and took a little walk. Total silence and eerily bright. Kudos to Samsung for making a smartphone's cameras so good that you can put it on night mode and grab pictures like this.
  9. With temperatures a few tenths of a degree above freezing and no wind yesterday's snowfall was a beauty in my hood. Last night skies cleared and there was also a full "super" moon. How many times does all this coincide? Pretty rare. I woke up around 2am and the house was so bright. Besides the full moon all the snow on the foliage added to the brightness. I decided to get dressed and take a walk. Outside there was total total silence, calm and eerily beautiful. Here are a few shots taken by my cellphone. Wow, what a night. I will remember it for a long time.
  10. During our snow the temperature was between 31.9 and 32.8F. Every tree is laced in snow since there was zero wind. I know this is your favorite type of snow.
  11. 31.7F Very light snow. I'll call it a wrap at 2.75". Seems like others are right around this too. Winter wonderland snow.
  12. 32.2F Light snow 1"ish Snow has picked up slightly in intensity Temperature slowly rose all morning to a high of 32.9F about 45 minutes ago. Now has fallen back to 32.2F
  13. FWIW the 12Z Geese still has something big for later next week 32.4F temp keeps rising. Beautiful 1" snow but anymore rise in temp it will be coming off the trees
  14. 32.2F Light snow. Temperatures continue the slow rise up here. 30.6F at daybreak
  15. 31.8F Gentle light snow about 3/4". Sure not a lot of cold air around for me to be this warm, with elevation on Jan 6th. Beautiful snowfall with no wind.
  16. Down to 31.5F Just flipped from drizzle to snow grains with small flakes mixed in.
  17. 10am 31.5F Just flipped to snow grains and very small flakes
  18. 31.7F Very light freezing drizzle. Temperatures have been falling steadily
  19. I'm just catching up on this thread. Have you seen what was going on in Europe the past few days? Unbelievable warmth. Not just a warm spell but epic for them. The heat this summer and now this. Of course weather and climate are different and I have not looked at how warm 2022 is going to come in but just seems like global warming is happening faster than ever..
  20. Scott, hope you feel better. For all of my other NNE friends Happy New Year and stay healthy!
  21. My high was 49.1F About 3 or 4" of glaciated snow remains from my Dec 17th 19". 27" of snow so far this season. Around dusk we were visited by our Bobcat for the 2nd time this week. The weather cam caught him walking by.
  22. Thanks guys for answering my question about lake temperatures and lake effect snow. I guess the next challenge for communities that are digging out will be the rain coming. A lot of weight for some peoples roofs.
  23. I live in NH but just checking out this thread. Wow. So sorry for all the people that lost their lives. It must have been a horrible way to go, slowly freezing in your car or outside. I know we talk about climate change and events. I am curious as to the lake water temperatures this fall. Were they above normal which would lead to heavier lake events? If so I wonder if the lake water was closer to normal might the snow bands be slightly weaker? Of course a storm of this magnitude would produce heavy snow no matter what but warmer lake water temperatures in the future may increase the likely hood of heavier lake effect. Snow
