  1. Heavy thunderstorm moved through. Not severe but pretty close. Lots of lightning and .43" rain
  2. Tomorrow is June 1rst so it is time for a NNE warm season thread. Going into the summer May has been very dry. Probably the biggest weather event was the late freeze on the morning of May 18th. Just about everyone got down into the 20s and I think there might have been a few teens? The oak trees around here took a big hit. The small leaves had just emerged and now the oaks are mostly bare with brown dead curled up leaves. I'm sure they will bounce back quickly. Below is the regional precipitation deficit for the month and a chart of my temperatures and rainfall here in Central NH.
  3. There is one batch of smoke moving NNW that is over SE New England that seems pretty thick. Then less smoke over the Atlantic. Over the past few hours another big fire looks to have started in NS.
  4. 50.4F on the other side of the cold front up here.. Behind the cold front the air is crystal clear. About .10 with the convection. Awaiting the afront rain coming in.
  5. Aurora tonight? Skies should clear out, at least up here and there is no moon. Currently a solar storm is going on. Will it continue tonight? Spaceweather.com
  6. I'm all for a good soak. GFS still shows jack way down in E Mass. So much divergence in modeling so close to go time. The freeze did a number on my Chestnut trees. New leaves will fill right in.
  7. 37/14 8pm 14 Apple trees in full bloom. This may not be good.
  8. Scott, I think the reason is 3 fold. The most important is the elevation difference. 2nd my skies are about 70% filled with Cu coming off the mountains. I can look south towards Brian and Cu becomes much more scattered the further south you go. He is getting more solar. The 3rd factor and the least important is I'm a bit further north into the colder air.
  9. 40.9/21F Partly cloudy and almost noon. Our apple trees are in full bloom. I don't have a good feeling for tonight. IMO Gray should push the button and go with a freeze warning for us in Central NH.
  10. Hum, The 12Z GFS comes in colder again. 29F in my area of Plymouth NH for 2 hours. 925mb is colder too, down to -1F. Smoke is very thick right now, very dim sun so we will start with a lower launching pad this evening. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. All our apple trees are in full bloom. Argghhh
  11. Hey guys, checking in... Alberta smoke is very thick this morning. Clearly visible on the satellite pictures. It is interesting you are discussing the smoke affect with the frost/freeze potential coming up. I have been wondering if the fropa would bring Eastern Canadian air down from Quebec and shove the smoke to our south for a couple of days? Looks like that would happen. What level do you most of the smoke is? 850mb? Looking outside from my view I can easily see 30 miles. I found this smoke website https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/
  12. The Horse Chestnut is doing great. It is on the right in the picture. We fertize it each year along with our Red Maple and Ash tree. The neighbors Ash trees across the dirt road are dying with the Ash Borer. We treated our Ash trees for that last year. It's good for 2 years. Oh, the American Chestnuts are doing good too! Come over anytime for a visit!! Be great to see you and Lisa
  13. The rain has really helped my lawn but I have a lawn guy too so I don't take credit.
  14. We just had a heavy rain shower with either small hail or graupel. No thunder or wind. Would today's "ice pellets" be considered as hail? It's 48F but has been snowing today above 3750 in the Whites
  15. 48f Moderate shower with lots of graupel
  16. 2.20" here. Lots of flooded roads around. Greenup is just starting in earnest. First dandelions today too.
  17. 44F Light rain. As of 4pm it is snowing above 3500 in the Whites.
  18. Looking at the Waterville NH webcam at 3500 feet it is snowing pretty good right now.
  19. Snowy morning in the Whites above about 3000 feet. Below is a shot from the Waterville Valley cam. It is at 3500 feet
