  1. Alex, Just looked at your cam. So much frickin snow. Down here the flurries went all day and most of last evening. After about 24 hours of flurries I don't have a dusting to snow from it. Just the snow from the birch bomb. Your going to have slush city up there and in much of NNE come Friday/Saturday. The snow down here is cement and the deer are having an awful time digging through it for soem nibbles of grass. Personally I would not mind a complete melt and a start over after a week or so.
  2. Hi J Spin. Nice post and pictures. Your posts are so informative and I enjoy reading them. I asked you this question a long time ago, but for some reason your posts are the only ones on the boards that are small and the lines are spaced so tightly its hard for me to read. Is it just my browser or do other people on NNE weather seem the same thing? Does anyone know if there is a setting on AMWX weather that is a default to make posts of different font sizes or spacings? In any event thanks for posting and being a great contributor. Gene
  3. Green and Whites have their snow shields on so I only get flurries here. Flurries much of yesterday afternoon, last night and today. Just partly cloudy but flurries in the air so far so far all day today (1pm) When I moved up here from Boston 17 years ago I knew there would be more synoptic snow storms. What I didn't realize is how many days there would be snow in the air. I seem to be right on the southern edge of the flurries. The terrain really starts to flatten out south of me but I still get enough lift to generate something. So when you guys report inches, I get dustings or nothing. Anyway about .5" yesterday so Im around 32" for the season. I'm losing ground in the snow race with all this upslope stuff north of me. 5" cement otg. Let's see what if left after Friday. I bet I'll still retain most. Really in a great CAD place so will take awhile to scour out the cold air. Have not hit 45F since I believe Nov 8th. Will I make it through this torch staying under this figure???
  4. New Vantage Pro 2 with aspirating fan, weather station is now fully sited and is up and running! Took a bit of work but got the anemometer on the roof with the new transmitter. So the new ISS is in the field at 2 meters and anemometer is over the roof at around 10 meters. It is high enough above peak that wind turbulence should not affect it. For now, the old Vantage 2 pro is still up. It will be interesting to note wind gusts as both anemometers are within several feet of each other. Does a 15+ old anemometer slow down in high wind? We will soon find out. Temperature wise the aspirating fan makes a big difference in the sun. New station can run a full 2F cooler. Right now with mixed air and nightfall, the 2 temperature probes are about .5F different. The new station seems to always run a bit cooler. Now that everything is set I started uploading data to the CWOP site in the past hour. My number is FW4292. I don't know I have to tell them I am live or they just realize it? Below is a picture of the 2 anemometers. At some point, probably this spring I will take the old station down. Weatherwise a few breaks of sun today. Finally up to 34-35F. Snow is softening but I am not expecting much melting tomorrow.
  5. 1045am Overcast and 26F. I was hoping to melt a bit of the glacier today and tomorrow. Not going to happen today. Going to struggle to get above freezing. This pack has so much water in it that even tomorrows upper 30's will not do much. Constant, complete snowcover for about 1 month now.
  6. Thanks Brian. Still working on getting the new anemometer on the roof with it's own transmitter. I had to order a special bracket to hold the new pole, Home Depot didn't have it. That should come by Amazon tomorrow. So when all is said and done this weekend I should have 2 weather stations and consoles. Old ISS/ anemometer on the roof. (No fan). New ISS in the field and new anemometer on a new pole with its own transmitter on the roof. I don't trust the old anemometer with readings, its well over 15 years old. I got my CWOP number and once I have the new anemometer functioning, will set up weatherlink to upload. Fingers crossed this will all be done by this weekend. Thanks for your input. By you alerting me my dew was low and giving me that link to that $599 price I would not have done this upgrade. (Actually it was $599 plus tripod plus anemometer transmitter, poles and brackets)
  7. Nice to see you post Jeremy. Is Raleigh under all kinds of snow emergancy's? 5" probably shut the city down. Glad your getting some snow down there. Happy Holidays.....
  8. Have gotted dusted with snow the last 2 nights. Just trace amounts. Turnng out to be a mostly sunny nice mid winter type day. 29F at noon with a NW breeze
  9. Some pretty good snow showers have made it over the greens into my area. 2-mile vis stuff. Starting to refresh the pack. If I could score a 1/2" I would be happy although it will sublimate away.
  10. Winter came in here on November 13th with a vengeance. People had not finished raking the oak leaves. 4" of snow that day and that was the last I saw of bare ground. Then it was just like midwinter, frequent snows and cold. A lot of rain yesterday soaked through the heavy snow from last week and now with the freeze the snow becomes glaciated and very hard to melt. It would take quite a cutter and warm wave to melt this.
  11. 1.3" snow overnight and then steady rain most the the day. Finally its up to 35F at 2pm. Everything is slush. I'll be curious how much melts before the refreeze tomorrow night. Snowstake shows 11" otg.
  12. Unless I'm reading the recon reports wrong the recon went thru the eye very recently and found 952.5mb.
  13. Kind of interesting with the placement of this new tornado watch relative to the risk zones. Tornado Watch is a bit north of where I thought it would be. Even into S VT in areas SW of me that are were marginal. Makes sense with the solar insulation blasting away up here. Didn't think I would break out into the mostly sunny skies.
  14. The line of thunderstorms would be coming through the RI around 6pm. They should start to weaken as they move SE through the state. Best chance of severe would be in Connecticut and Mass.
  15. Clearing out nicely in the Southern half of VT and NH now. If I were the SPC perhaps I would have bumped this afternoon threat a bit more north as it is now clearing off nicely even up here. I'm going to guess they will issue a tornado watch for areas east of the new Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
  16. Severe Thunderstorm Watch or a Tornado Watch? Meso discussion mentioned both..
  17. Mark, can you believe it. Some mood flakes falling right now. 4.5" on the day!
  18. 2.5" never got below 1 mile vis today. Mostly very small flakage. Finally in past 15 minutes a few bonafide medium flakes mixed in. Sky very bright. Peak wind gust 14mph. Town plow still has not bothered to go by. Kids could easily had school. Total disasta...unless something backs in from the east.
  19. 1pm. Very light snow and snow grains. Snow started at 8am and after 5 hours 2". Intense band to my east wants to come west but falls apart. Big bust incoming? Starting to look like that.
  20. Watching WMUR news at noon here in NH. Reporting 14 people without power in the state. I thought it might be an error but just checked the Eversource map. 2 customers without power in their service region
  21. 27.4F Light snow, light winds. Vis 1.25 miles. Poor snow growth 1.5" new (Been snowing for 4 hours now)
  22. 27.5F light snow Vis 1 mile. Wind north 4 gusts to 14mph. Poor snow growth. 1/2" over the past 2 hours.
  23. 29f very light snow. Heavy dusting. Expected 2/3 inches by now according to models. Get this stuff north please.
  24. Lots of people saw it all over New England. My neighbor swears it landed just behind his house! He said it went down just behind his trees. Highly doubtful. I told him he should take the day off and go into his woods and find it. A 1 pound meteorite is worth about a million bucks!
