  1. Managing a few flakes this evening. Looking forward to the thaw. I would like to melt some of the snow on this roof to reduce weight and make room for more storms over the next 6 weeks. Today was the last sunset before 5pm. Average temps are now rising. Perhaps the backbone of this winter has been broken? This is the time of year the sun angle starts eating away at the snowbanks. We have to head down to Rhode Island for a couple of days early this week. Will be nice to bring the car through the carwash and get rid of the salt. Also will be nice to see some bare ground, it has been way too long. Glad SNE's don't bother reading this thread about the winter they didn't (yet) have.
  2. Here's another video of the squall from the other part of the house. It's interesting when snowfall is reported, light, moderate or heavy. Generally when it's under 1/4 mile its heavy snow but this is like 100-200 visibility snow. So much heavier than anything I have ever seen synoptically.
  3. 1.5" in a wicked squall around 645pm. Wish it had been light outside. I could not see anything past 100-200 feet during the height of it. I posted this vid in the obs thread. Approaching 70" for the season. Going to take a long break now.
  4. Thanks for the Pizza tip. Nope haven't tried TH of Pizza. Uno's 2 for one is a great deal. I think it was around $32 for 2 large Uno's. Weather wise the Tilton strip is a bit lower in elevation than you and further east too. Right at the top of the big hill north of Exit 20 was the dividing line, driving down and back. Just watched the car thermometer change every minute. Town plow just went up my road. Ended up with about 1.3" of snow although judging by the snow falling I thought it would be more. Probably takes 2 hours to sand/plow all our roads. They will be pissed if the actual CF comes through with a heavy squall and makes all their work for not. Don't see anything on radar that will make it to Central NH. Tuesday night next....
  5. I decided I really wanted a Pizzeria Uno so made the 30 minute trek down to Exit 20. Such a different world. 28F with light to moderate snow here. Around Exit 22 just a dusting. Exit 20 was 37F and a few sprinkles but mostly dry roads. Big difference of existing snow cover too, even some grass here and there. Got the pizza went up the big hill north of Exit 20 and back into winter. Bad accident northbound at Exit 22. People were racing northbound and the road went from basically dry to snow-covered and slippery within a couple of miles.
  6. No Poles....The arctic cold front is moving west to east. The echoes in front are in the southwest flow in front of the actual front. 27F Moderate snow. Vis 1/2 mile
  7. 28F Light snow. Good snow growth with big flakes. Vis has been around 3/4 to .1.5 miles. Like drsuess said above very sharp transition. Looks like Brian's area just 20 miles south is in the mid 30's with little precip.
  8. 28.5F Light snow. Vis about 3/4 mile. Everything is coated.
  9. Light snow just started here, Im the yellow dot. That squall line just entering extreme N VT looks to be the real deal. Will be interesting to see if it gets down to me intact.
  10. Nice, the best picture of her was when she was a pup and was running through the snow with her ears flopping away. I saved that picture in one of my old photo folders, great pic.
  11. Looking forward to squalls later.... PF thanks for snow info. I have seen pictures of your black lab that since he was a Pup, what is his name? Most photograph canine on the boards.
  12. PF, how much snow do you think the town of Stowe has gotten this winter? J Spin is by far in the lead for NE snow and I'm sure the mountain is right up there but it seems just a few miles makes a big difference with upslope. Looks like another good week for you, I'm closer to the pesky rain/snow lines but as of tonight Im in the game for Tuesday/Wednesday
  13. Lets move the 12Z Euro 50 miles SE and lock in a blizzard next week for us. Bombing low from Central Mass to SE NH to 968mb over Maine.
  14. About 2" of rain fell yesterday in my area. Rain ended around dark and many of the major roads dried off, finally salt free for a change. Then around 11pm a snow squall came through with about 1/4" of snow so the crews mucked up all the roads again with a ton of salt. Driveways are a mess. So much ice everywhere. My snowstake is down to 9" from a prestorm of 14". Winter continues in Central NH. 58" seasonal total for me.
  15. 6pm. LIght rain and temps now falling. 41F. Temperatures in this part of NH stayed in the 30's for most of the event except on the hills which made it into the upper 40's. Lots of flooding, impressive rain event. My pack went from about 14" to 8". No bare spots. Pack is probably deeper at lower elevations that stayed colder.
  16. 48 RN+ About as hard as I ever see it rain in the winter months, very impressive. Glad Im up high to be in the warm air, down below its still stuck in the low/mid 30's. Snow depth down only dow 2-3" from around 14" yesterday
  17. I have just under 14" at the snow stake. Lots of sleet mixed in so the pack will condense and refreeze into a glacier if we get 1.5" liquid.
  18. 26F Light freezing rain. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to go above freezing. Ground surfaces are obviously extremely cold.
  19. I saw all the school delays this morning. 2 hours didn't make much of a difference in temperatures but I guess something is better than nothing
  20. -4.6F Light snow blowing snow. vis 1 mile. Light snow has been falling all day vis 3 to 5 miles. Snow has increased in intensity past hour. About as winter of a day as it gets.
  21. -5.4F at midnight and up to -4.4F at noon. Should have a below zero day. Low was -7.7F
  22. 15.5F snow grains and IP. It's times like this I wish we had a AMWX member just NW of me so I can tell where the snow/sleet line is and if its starting to advance SE
  23. I just don't what Im missing. This looks like a 9-14" snowfall region wide. Where are these 18-24" amounts coming from? Perhaps a few days ago with 2" plus qpf but the trend has been down. To my eyes this is just a fairly regular NNE snowfall, easy to remove fairly low impact. So much hype in my area.
  24. Pretty sad that I have to read the boards before looking at my console. -1.3F on the console.
  25. Today was "Ice In" day at Newfound Lake, 5th largest in the state. Usually Newfound and Winnipesaukee Ice In and Ice Out is about the same
