  1. Can we do it one more time? Just saw the 12Z Euro day 10. Cold 1035mb high in Eastern Canada and looks to have a nor'easter coming up the coast at the end of the run. Only 40 more runs to go. Lock it in for one last snowstorm?
  2. Another 1.5" last night. Storm total 4.5". One town south (Bristol NH) had a dusting of slop yesterday AM and another dusting last night. Big gradient through my area. Congrats to areas NW. I keep thinking of the NWS map just before the storm without an advisory or warning in the state of NH. (No disrespect to OceanST whos a great Met.)
  3. 31.6" Light snow. Looks like best qpf will be west and north.
  4. I have a question for Chris. I noticed that Burlington NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the higher elevations of Vermont. I have never seen Gray do the same thing for NH or Maine. They always issue it by county. Sometimes they will break up my county (Grafton) into north and south. Issuing for higher elevations makes total sense instead of broad brushing. Is it a software related thing? If Burlington can do it I would assume Gray could too? Big day on my 15 acres. First small grass patch has appeared on the steep south slope part of the lawn. Snowcover came on Nov 9th. We did have patches of grass for a brief time around Christmas. Snowcover is down to 9" at the snowstake. This is the beginning of the time of year that it's hard to measure snowcover. Big differences between north and south facing slopes.
  5. This Euro run is a bit interesting for me because it retrogrades the low and has it hanging around up here to even give me a few inches downslope of the mountains after my inch of rain.
  6. Thanks Dryslot.. I have a question for you or the others that know much more than me. If you took then ensemble mean position of intensity and position and compared it to the operational (GFS or Euro) over time which is more accurate? There must be computer programs that compare.
  7. Went through the thread but couldn't find what the 06Z Euro showed up here as compared to 0Z. I couldn't find it in the thread. Bit colder or warmer up here?
  8. Deep snowcover in NW Lakes Region of NH. Even with my full sun south facing slopes snow depth is just under 1 foot. Unless we get a lot of rain on Thursday I don't see a day or two of 40's doing too much damage. Perhaps lots of water bars with melt to cross otherwise I thin sledding will be okay for one last weekend
  9. Big jump on the GFS. Im surprised it doesn't throw back more precip to the west given that track.
  10. One thing is for sure. Tides are very high around the 21rst
  11. I was wondering what a super moon had to to anything. I do have to go and take a look at tide tables.
  12. Birch bender to start my season and one to end? Boy would that be a disaster up here. Our road is so muddy that there would be no way for the town to ever plow. With a deep snow and the mud ruts underneath no one is getting up or down my hill if that came to fruition. Hopefully this slips further SE and spares me. SNE please take this one. We don't need more.
  13. Good question. I took the truck today. Tomorrow will be the Crosstrek's turn. Over this winter, in the snow that Crosstrek was a beast. Fantastic handling and high clearance. With only 2000 miles on the new car I really don't want to drive it through the deep mud but its inevitable.
  14. I had never heard of mud season when I lived in the Boston area. Boy I know what it is now. Our road is a total mess. Without 4 wheel drive and a truck its almost impossible to get up. Thankfully it firmed up last night and more thankfully no storms this week and a freeze/thaw temps will help. If the thaw had continued with an inch or two of rain thrown on top it would have been a disaster.
  15. Got back from the mid-atlantic last night. Very solid dusting last night about 1/4 of an inch to cover up a dirty snow. Barely made it up my dirt road the mud is so deep. Never seen it like that I'm going to make a drone video later and posted it in the Northern New England group later
  16. In the car heading back from Balt. Looking at the webcam snowpack down to 10". No bare spots showing yet on south facing slopes. 2 days of 75 to near 80F felt amazing on the trip. With the dews yesterday it felt hot. Glad we have the pack to melt or I would already be whining that we are going to dry out too early this spring. Jeez I've lived away from cities too long these drivers are nuts.
  17. Im down in Maryland right now. This warmth feels so good. Meanwhile looking back home 36.6F and only got to 42F yesterday. Thought this was going to be our 2 days of good melting. This pack is never going to go away! Today is over 4 months of snowcover and the deer in my pasture are getting thinner and are just eating bark off of the apple trees. Wish this thaw would have opened up a few grass patches but not going to happen. Just quickly reading the posts looks like no warmth in the future? Yesterdays drive down, snow patches to just north of NYC. Green grass in Baltimore but greenup seems to be behind even down here. Sometimes forsythia has started by now but I see no signs. 550 mile trip back to snow and mud tomorrow.
  18. 1" for me. Really nice on the trees. In the car now heading to Baltimore to see the folks. I've forgotten what bare ground looks like. 70f going to feel hot.
  19. 31F Moderate snow. Just took this picture. Notice how the snow that has slid off my metal sunroom roof over the winter is now 1/2way up my slider. This is the north side of the house. Going to take quite a bit of melting to get rid of this
  20. 31,7F Light to almost moderate snow. 1/4" so far. Euro was good in predicting 1/2" to 1". Lots of drippage tomorrow for sure.
  21. Snow just started here. 33/25F.
  22. Sunrise up here in December is around 720am so it would be 820am. On a dark stormy morning it would be dark to almost 9am. Either you take the light in the PM or AM. I think for most of the country they would take the PM light. Daylight saving time is worst for us in the AM because we are north as well as east in our time zone.
  23. 12Z Euro sure does increase qpf up here. About .75" and it looks to be mostly or all snow for me. Is this to be believed. I've had enough and don't need to add to the pack.
  24. .3F last night. I'm at such a crappy place to radiate but it's fine with me to let the bogs and lowlands take the cold. I beat them out in CAA. Few inches this weekend, turn the clocks, makes model watching harder in the evening and lets start turning the seasons!
  25. Lots of virga and clouds right now, struggling in the upper teens with the wind blowing pretty good, blowing snow from time to time across the fields. Sunday seems to keep trending colder with more frozen but that is another story
