  1. and the 18Z GFS. Gone crazy with snow chances the next 10 days. Those clown maps are ridiculous.
  2. Snow cover is slowly going. Highest wind gust was 43mph yesterday Lawn mower crew of 21 has been here all day getting the pastures ready for spring.
  3. My neighbor's house is in a wooded area. They could take down lots of trees but I guess like the shade. Most people I think barely pay attention to things like a wind advisory. They might hear it on the evening news if they watch. With a winter storm people talk and word gets around, but wind nah. On the other hand they were home last evening and the wind was roaring through the trees so they could have done something.
  4. Ouch. Last nights wind brought down a nice limb on my neighbors truck. Smashed the side of the truck bed. This will take a bit of $$ to fix.
  5. Ha,,Couple solid snow events C/NNE next week and the week after??
  6. Tip, although this solution is so extreme it's very hard to believe but what has more merit, something towards the GFS or the Euro solution?
  7. It's a lock! 18Z GFS gives all of us 12-36" of snow next week.
  8. Just took a quick look at GFS. The clown maps have ridiculous amounts of frozen up here next week. Ice storms are really rare in April. I don't know how much solar insolation gets through clouds the second week of April but perhaps even sun on dark bark branches might do some melting in well below freezing temps? Just don't know about this stuff. Of course heavy precip from around 5pm to 8am would have no problem accruing on surfaces.
  9. Took the drone up this evening for a look. Around the house and pastures, most of the snow is gone. Both snow stakes are snow free. Our pastures are like a snow free oasis. Total area except for them is snowcovered, much of it deep. That is why if I had to report snow depth it would be so hard as 1500 feet around the house is basically snow free. 19 deer grazing in the fields. No wonder I'm the only food source. Picture attached. Blue line is our 15 acres. Yellow line is the webcam view.
  10. I only need 2-3" more inches to hit 100". Might as well happen and let it melt right off Saturday
  11. Nice snow melt today even with high clouds. Slowly the pastures reappear. Not a moment too soon. 13 deer trying to eat our bushes around the house last night.
  12. Few looks like Euro ticked west 25 miles on qpf. Looks like a snowy night up here Friday night.
  13. Thank you Steve. It makes me a little nuts when people make statements like that without any backup or any details.
  14. DIT, can you give me more detailed info? QPF 850 line or are you just joking around?
  15. Do tell! Has it continued the west trend for Wed and come on board with a wetter system for Friday?
  16. Fun fact for me. I have not hit 60F since Oct 17 2018, about 5 1/2 months. Got real close on March 15th with a 59.9F and 56F yesterday. Speaking of snow depth it is so variable right now. Bare spot at my snow stake but well over a foot in shady areas and woods. All in all about 70% snow coverage. How do you measure snow on the ground this time of year when it's so variable from sun and south facing to shade and north facing?
  17. FWIW clown map of the midweek system from 12Z Euro showing some snow too.
  18. Over the past past week the models keep wavering back and forth just enough to keep the next storm interesting. GFS again closer... Temp is stuck at 29F up here even with ample April 1rst sun. Looks like a below 32F afternoon high. No snow melt today
  19. 29.2F Partly cloudy and windy. Morning snow flurries have ended but feels really cold.
  20. After many cold days we briefly experienced spring today. From upper 30's this morning to touching the mid 50's back now into the 30's. Nice while it lasted
  21. Busted out into the warm air around 8am. Wow what 55F and a warm breeze and higher dews can to snow cover. Hundreds of robins in the bare ground areas and relentless gobbling of male turkeys looking for mates. Cold front soon but mid week storm is a miss and with lots of 40's and 50's the melt will continue. Argghh, don't know why my new VP2 rain gauge is not working. Will have to take a look tomorrow. About .05" so far in the Stratus
  22. Sun's out wind has picked up dramatically the temperature has risen a quick 13f moving through the low fifties now
  23. Warm front got so close today. I made a time-lapse clip of the afternoon. 30 seconds long. Skip to about 15 seconds in. The clearing approaches from the south but as it gets almost to me the low clouds keep forming so the clearing never gets in. Temp rose from upper 30's in the AM to 42F late afternoon and now back in the upper 30's with clouds now lowering and filled back in https://video.nest.com/clip/0c3648f8c8bc44bfb8bceb7b404076a2.mp4
  24. Warm front really tried to get up and through here but failed as expected. Got up to 42F with a bit of sun earlier. Looked south and saw almost clear skies but low clouds kept forming as the clearing line got closer. Now back to 39.9F Very little snow melt today. Watching that mid-week storm. Nice shift west today. 3 or 4 more ticks and wet snow up here?
  25. Skies clearing but temperature remaining stubborn at 41.5F.
