  1. 28.7F here and 85F at folks house in Baltimore. Nice gradient. Hartford 42F and NYC 72F
  2. 28.7F Light IP continues. Maybe a couple more inches tomorrow? Euro says yes.
  3. Very heavy sleet shower in progress. Almost convection in nature. Just slamming down, big pellets
  4. Great news! After today's snow Im at 99". I need 1" more and then it can stop. 29F Moderate sleet and freezing rain. Trees glazing at bit so my theory about hard to get ice accretion in April is thrown out the window, at least at 29F Brian, I PM'd you. Good news they updated my VP2 location. It will take a few days to migrate but will be more accurate.
  5. 28.9F low of the day. Light to moderate sleet. Tomorrow looks a bit too warm for another bout of snow for me? Maybe the cold air will over perform? Very white out there. About 1.25" on the ground, just enough to cover the grass.
  6. She started PM me and asking detailed weather questions. I answered and even gave her some newbie advice about these boards. Then it got weird with lots of PM's like "what should I wear tomorrow"
  7. 29.6F Snow grains and sleet. Temp bottomed out at 29.2F
  8. Temp continues to fall 29.5F Light to moderate sleet and snow grains. 1.25" OTG
  9. Strong NE wind causing downslope off of Lafeyette? Temperature continues to fall here. 30.3F light snow
  10. Temperature still falling. Down .4F past hour to 31.4F. Precip back to snow
  11. 31.7F Light freezing rain, sleet and a mangled flake or two.
  12. 31.8F Light to moderate snow and sleet. Ground is white perhaps 1".
  13. Yep, what happened? Those clouds came in mid AM and it was socked in looking NW on the sat. Thought temp would bust way low but cleared out and ended up with 57.8F just about where the models had me. Almost made it to the warmest day of 2019, missed by 1.1F Another nice hit to the pack. Now what is left is north slopes and woods. Don't know what to expect tomorrow. Light rain to snow in the AM? Inch or two?
  14. Euro gone wild. Blue bomb around day 8-10. Snowmobiling on July 4th? No cutter on today's run
  15. Cold air drains in and almost always overperforms for me. Will this be cold enough for frozen or a mid 30's cold rain is the question? Will be interesting to see 12Z runs.
  16. Total zoo out there last evening. 40 animals between deer and turkeys. 26 are in this frame more were around the other side of the house
  17. NNE Musings: Enjoyed my hour of sun earlier. Looks like that's it. At least it got me into the 40's. Im very much doubting the upper 50's as models are showing. Chimney guy came and swept out the chimney and stove is off. Burning the oil this AM. Why does the house feel so cold with oil heat vs wood? I guess its the up and down on the thermostat, on/off cycle. I hate the noise the furnace makes. A mouse made it into the bedroom at 345am. Lots of squealing and 2 cats running around and crashing into things. They couldn't get the mouse. He's hiding in there someplace his hours are numbered with our felines Just not feeling it with these snow chances. Im too far SW with tomorrow AM and not on board with Tuesday but this is just gut feeling. I've posted lots of animal pictures from the weather cam but last night tops them all. I counted 40 animals between deer and turkeys. 26 are in this picture more were around the other side of the house. Total zoo out there as the pastures continue to open up.
  18. March 7 1970? Carly Simon's song. You flew your lear jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun, your so vain" https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/b32e70e6-7ff3-487c-8263-bc7f544c14aa
  19. Geo1, Iceland misses it. The best place to view it is on the west coast of Mexico. The resort city of Mazatlan gets almost unlimited sunshine in April and is on the ocean. Take a Mexico vacation and watch it but I bet you need to book now. Here's the path https://www.eclipse-chasers.com/php/tseCalculatorBig2.php?TSE=tse2024d
  20. Even at 99.5% its not super impressive. Like someone once said, it's like almost being dead and being dead. You have to be under the path of totality
  21. Mark your calender. 5 years from this Monday another total solar eclipse will cross N America. A longer, darker eclipse as compared to last years and the path of totality goes through NNE. As I posted many times one of the highlights of my life was to experience a total eclipse in Aruba years ago. It's a must do and you have to be in the path of totality or it's just meh. Put your vacation day in now with your employer! Boston gets a 93% eclipse, my location in red is 97% Weather in NNE this time of year is another story.
  22. Either way I'm good to go to be like Southern Quebec. Canada is 95 miles from me.
  23. The one thing that stands out at your location is the radiational cooling. I have had 5-7 nights below 0F. You must have dozens. So at your 1500 ft location you get the low high temps and the insane radiational cold nights being in the valley next to the river. Add to that the upslope 150" snow totals you have the ultimate weenie spot of everyone on the boards if you factor in cold and snow combined. You sure picked a good spot to satisfy your craving of real winters when you moved up from Metro Boston. I'm sure you can do without the extreme cold, however, that gets old real quick
  24. Some times living up here sucks. So many days of mountain cloudiness. While it clears out on the coastal plain with downslope off the highlands to the north we stay cloudy and so much cooler. Dividing line many times is around Concord NH. Finally, a few blue patches appearing while 95% of the NE board are enjoying a nice spring day. Monday looks awful. If its going to be in the 30's with cold rain it might as well snow
  25. I didn't measure but eyeballing a good solid covering maybe half an inch little more last night?
