  1. Thunder to my East and Southwest. More incoming from the north. Should be a good day for a time lapse later
  2. 84/72F. Don't worry, it cools off by Oct 1rst!
  3. Another great night of thunderstorms for the NW Lakes Region of NH. They weakened as they moved SE of my area. I storm chased last night. Lots of lightning, heavy rain and I caught quite a bit of hail in Plymouth. Great structure. I'm not sure if you could call this a supercell or not but the storm to the right in the picture became very intense. I chased it and got under a slowly rotating low base in Plymouth NH. Hail was to the right of this picture. This storm missed me but the followup storm gave me .54". I have had more thunderstorms this season than all of last summer.
  4. At 330pm today June 26 hit 80F. First time in 2019 Nice .85" drink for the gardens yesterday
  5. This question is mostly for Tamarack. When does White Pine pollen peak? I would think it should have been everything is running so late. Everything coated here. I have been mostly able to keep all the windows closed this whole month with temps each day in the 60's to mid 70's. House guests this week and warmer temperatures mean I want to open windows wide. Is peak about over? Assume it has a ways to go in extreme northern areas.
  6. My fields have so many wild flowers right now. They seem to have exploded the past week. It gets really hard to cut when it gets really high and I love the look of nice cut low fields but I know how important the flowers are to the bees/insects/butterflies. Bottom line I'll wait to mow and leave patches for the wildlife.
  7. Alex, everything is so late, still waiting for my first 80F. I guess the Lupine Festival is a bit like the Cherry Blossoms in DC. Each year is different, this is certainly a late one!
  8. Wasn't sure if the rain would make it up to me today. It shifted north enough to just included me in steady light rain. Cool, low 60's, light rainy day. Not great for 1000's of motorcycle's heading back south from CNH Lakes Region.
  9. Last year we started some Lupine by seed. Started the plants indoors and mid-summer they were big enough to put along the stone wall right across the road from our house. They came back up this year. Gave them some Miracle Grow earlier this spring and they have taken off. Not quite at peak but getting close.
  10. A weather friend sent me this on today's date. "1842 - A late season snowstorm struck New England. Snow fell during the morning and early afternoon, accumulating to a depth of ten to twelve inches at Irasburg VT. Berlin NH was blanketed with eleven inches of snow during the day. Snow whitened the higher peaks of the Appalachians as far south as Maryland."
  11. Alex, just sent you an email but I would bet these are the famous NNE black flies. Much smaller than house flies, really look like gnats. Swarm to the point you can't go outside. In your eyes, up your nose, swallowing them. I always heard Mother's Day to Father's Day is blackfly season in NH. The black fly season is over in S NH and is now ending in my area of Central NH but your cold spot is even further behind. Wear the screen headgear or shirts, we have to for a week or so until they pass. There awful things and bite like crazy
  12. My type of perfect day. 47F for a low and 77F for a high with dews in the 40's. Not a cloud in the sky. Looks like a good soak tomorrow night to keep everything real green.
  13. Another very cool day. Snow or rime coating atop the rock pile.
  14. This cool, wet season is really making my lawn green......okay I'll be honest. I hired a company this year to fertilize. They came earlier this spring and applied the fertilizer with weed killer. My lawn looks fantastic but I know it's not good for the environment. I asked if they can use an organic product and they said yes. So going forward this season this is what they will use. Apple trees are peaking with blossoms this year. It's a great year for the blossoms. Some years I don't have many blossoms and some years I do. So lots of apples for the deer. Last summer was very dry as I missed almost every thunderstorm. Wonder if they were stressed and that helped this season? Don't trees/flowers produce more fruit after a stressful time. Will have to Google that... Pictures of the front lawn and a few of the apple trees.
  15. I remember that. The oak leaves even got it. Meanwhile 2pm. 30F Moderate snow Mt Washington 43.5F here moderate rain
  16. You think of our forefathers who planted and lived in NNE. Colder climate. No weather forecasts or plastic to cover crops. A kill in July can mean the difference between starving the next winter and having a bounty. I was talking to my Mom in Bend Oregon the other day. They had a early spring and all the apple trees even Rhodos bloomed. Then the past week a hard freeze and everything dead.
  17. Ouch. What a cold day coming up tomorrow with a nice soak too! Upper 30's to low 40's late afternoon?
  18. As soon as I saw that I thought of you. Your almost never safe to plant their, maybe a few weeks in July. Have a nice Memorial Day. All my apple trees are in bloom so glad I will escape frost up on the hill.
  19. 78.3F as a high. First really warm feeling day. First day over 75F. Last time it was this warm was Oct 10 2018 about 7 1/2 months ago. Wonder when I will hit 80F? No time soon.
  20. Last snow patch that I can see is melting on Ragged Mtn. Nice T storm last night about .70" Black flies are peaking
  21. Struggling to get past 50F. I can see virga snow showers falling out of Cu. Looks like snow flurries on Alex's cam?
  22. It's true. Leave out seems to happen much faster up here than down in SNE. 3 days ago I was at 25% leaf out and now approaching 90%.
  23. Nice T storm just moved through. No wind but quite a bit of C to G lightning bolts. Cam caught this one a little to close for comfort. Ignore the white line, that is just a bug flying by the infrared cam. Wait for the thunder, I'm still looking for my freaked out cats! https://video.nest.com/clip/b80d1c8cb07643c3b7095d055617e9dc.mp4
