  1. Hum, definitely rotation but it doesn't really stay intact. I've seen these brief spouts on Newfound Lake. I would rather see something tighter and video of something extending further vertical in a video.
  2. Glad he is safe. Wonder how much of the Cape will be without power. I'm guessing much of the damage will be trees, wires etc.
  3. Fianlly James gets his severe weather and wind. Hope there is not major damage on the Mid Cape. Lots of population. If a tornado on the ground confirmed when was the last time that happened? Must be a very rare event
  4. Wow, tight rotation approaching Hyannis.
  5. 63/61F Light to moderate rain about .20" so far. Windows wide open with cool, refreshing breeze coming through. Feels great after my "heatwave" 85, 89, 86 the past 3 days. I'll take as many 0F days you can throw me but would not mind if I never experience another 95/73 type day in my life. Turning the corner now on the seasons, I would guess right around July 22nd ish? might be New England's max averages?
  6. Totally off subject but this is the only thread people are looking at. Crazy storms down in MD. Look at this webcam 900pm. Just continuous lightning. https://chart.maryland.gov/video/video.php?feed=deffdbfb008f00a2005afa36c4235c0a
  7. Logan with a 98.6F a little while ago. https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=KBOS&time=GMT
  8. Took a nice swim in Newfound Lake yesterday. Water temp 79F. Perfect for me. Newfound Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the northeast. Usually the water vis. is around 20-25 feet. Right now it's 5-9 feet since so much sediment came into the lakes with the flash floods last week Have any of you ridden an electric bike? We bought a couple a few days ago and they are so much fun. Just light pedaling and you're going 20mph. Just took a quick 5 miles bike ride and didn't break a sweat, even with dews in the low 70's. The hill coming up to my house is about a 400 foot vertical rise and could pedal right up.
  9. 83/72 Nice breeze. It doesn't seem too uncomfortable up here. Looks like the bullseye for the rain tomorrow will be right across my area or a bit south towards Brian. Nice to give the gardens a 1" soak after this heat.
  10. A special evening in Greater Boston At 20 minutes to 10 at night, most all the Weather Underground reporting stations are 87-90F with dews in the upper 70's. Enjoy!
  11. 88/70 High was 88.9F. Now with the new VP2 out in the field and not near the roof I realize it will take a special day for me to hit 90F. With the front close by tomorrow I don't expect to do it.
  12. Debris clouds just exited up here. Dark blue sky and temperature jumping up the past 30 minutes. Cirrus to exit E Mass soon should give Boston a boast.
  13. What do you guys think about a possible MCS type situation for New England, especially up here during this evening? I'll be watching for convection in S Ontario to round the bend and come at me from the NW. Thoughts?
  14. Speaking of water temperature lots of activity this weekend on the big lakes of NH. Newfound Lake water temp is at 78.4F and Lake Winni is usually very similar. Going to take a run at 80F water temps by Sunday. That's the temperature I like for a swim.
  15. Thanks. My station is in a field surrounded by apple trees so it makes sense it is higher with moisture coming off the ground. I'm watching the dew on my monitor and it is bouncing around. 72 to 75F. As dews creep up to the low 70's it will be interesting if mine continues to read high. Enjoy the upper 90's down there while I tickle 90F this weekend.
  16. 85.5/75F Nice to see Concord back. How can their ASOS be reporting a 69F dew? Brian and I both have dews up to 75F now.
  17. 83.3/73F Dew just briefly hit 74F. Seems to high but that is what my air aspirated VP2 in the field is reading.
  18. I just happen to see this on my news feed. Last month was hottest June on record for the planet... June 2019. The average global temperature in June was 1.71 degrees F above the 20th-century average of 59.9 degrees, making it the hottest June in the 140-year record, according to scientists to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. Nine of the 10 hottest Junes have occurred since 2010.
  19. 77/70F up here. Surprised the dews have risen so quickly this AM. Expected them later today
  20. 74/59F up here. Let's lock it in for the next week.
  21. Lava, that doesn't look good. I dethatch once a year, each spring but that doesn't look like much thatch in my opinion. Have you fertilized at all? I know it's not great for the environment but starting last year I hired a company that does lawn care. He comes once a month and applies fertilizer. They have a program so each month the application varies. In the spring weed control mixed in, then grub control yada yada. My lawn looks great but I bet if I didn't have him it would look like crap.
  22. 70/57F Clear with a refreshing cool breeze blowing through the house. Surface vis is pretty good but the sky has that hazy look. Still considerable smoke at mid levels coming out of Canada.
