  1. Last summer I couldn't score a thunderstorm for the life of me. This summer getting hit frequently T storm just ended 67/66F .50" more lighter cells to my SW
  2. 70/67 .58" total. Not a lot of lightning and thunder no wind but nice downpour.
  3. 73/69F Heavy thunderstorm. This came out of nowhere. Just about everything was north all day. Few showers popped up west of me and bam! .55" in the stratus and still going strong.
  4. The bear population seems to be exploding in my area of Central NH. They are everywhere. When one crosses our yard or field it's not even worth getting up off the sofa to take a look.
  5. 82.5F high for me with dews around 60F. Few towering Cu's popping up and down This mid-day timelapse from my front lawn exemplifies what I think of when I think of a perfect summer day. One shower in the distant SW of the view https://video.nest.com/clip/554140cc363e45d5ab5deaedc78f7d88.mp4
  6. Paris, wow. I just Googled their all time high temp 104.7F. Is the 108 official?
  7. That's what it looked to me. Strong straight line wind got under old, crappy construction. Although I don't blame the guy filming it's too bad we didn't see another 30 seconds to see if any kind of wind switch.
  8. Lots of conjecture on my part. I looked up the Cape Sands Inn. So per this picture, it was a west wind that took off the roof. Maybe RFD from the departing circulation. That Inn seems a bit far NW of where the ground circulation would have been? How wide would a small tornado be on the ground? Maybe 500 feet? Wind at the Inn could have gotton under the roof and pulled the whole thing off. We will have to see what the NWS says because much of this damage could just be straight line winds around a broad center.
  9. Hum, definitely rotation but it doesn't really stay intact. I've seen these brief spouts on Newfound Lake. I would rather see something tighter and video of something extending further vertical in a video.
  10. Glad he is safe. Wonder how much of the Cape will be without power. I'm guessing much of the damage will be trees, wires etc.
  11. Fianlly James gets his severe weather and wind. Hope there is not major damage on the Mid Cape. Lots of population. If a tornado on the ground confirmed when was the last time that happened? Must be a very rare event
  12. Wow, tight rotation approaching Hyannis.
  13. 63/61F Light to moderate rain about .20" so far. Windows wide open with cool, refreshing breeze coming through. Feels great after my "heatwave" 85, 89, 86 the past 3 days. I'll take as many 0F days you can throw me but would not mind if I never experience another 95/73 type day in my life. Turning the corner now on the seasons, I would guess right around July 22nd ish? might be New England's max averages?
  14. Took a nice swim in Newfound Lake yesterday. Water temp 79F. Perfect for me. Newfound Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the northeast. Usually the water vis. is around 20-25 feet. Right now it's 5-9 feet since so much sediment came into the lakes with the flash floods last week Have any of you ridden an electric bike? We bought a couple a few days ago and they are so much fun. Just light pedaling and you're going 20mph. Just took a quick 5 miles bike ride and didn't break a sweat, even with dews in the low 70's. The hill coming up to my house is about a 400 foot vertical rise and could pedal right up.
  15. 74/59F up here. Let's lock it in for the next week.
  16. Lava, that doesn't look good. I dethatch once a year, each spring but that doesn't look like much thatch in my opinion. Have you fertilized at all? I know it's not great for the environment but starting last year I hired a company that does lawn care. He comes once a month and applies fertilizer. They have a program so each month the application varies. In the spring weed control mixed in, then grub control yada yada. My lawn looks great but I bet if I didn't have him it would look like crap.
  17. 70/57F Clear with a refreshing cool breeze blowing through the house. Surface vis is pretty good but the sky has that hazy look. Still considerable smoke at mid levels coming out of Canada.
  18. Thursday's flash flooding on the NW side of Newfound Lake has caused a lot of debris and silt to move into the lake by the Cockermouth River. Drone shot shows it clearly
  19. I'm getting a nice view of the Metro Boston storms. Only 125 miles away. Enjoy for those that get hit
  20. Just took a drive over to the NW side of Newfound Lake. Flash flooding was major. Cockermouth River came way over it's banks bring down lots of trees. This picture is not the river but a new channel it briefly cut through the woods. Amazing how high the water came as you can see by the trailer stuck on the tree
  21. Wow last night. Lots of lightning and thunder for a few hours as I just missed by a few miles training thunderstorms. Only 1.52" in Stratus but many more inches on the north side of Newfound Lake. My neighbor Met Matt Noyes was up at his weekend place near me and texted me in the early afternoon his NBC model he uses. Showed a 3" bullseye very close to where it happened. I thought it was overdone but it was not. Gardens very happy this morning
  22. Been on the edge of heavy rain and thunderstorms all eve. Only .65" here but just north of me by a few miles I bet 2-3" towards Plymouth NH.
