  1. 71/68 Light thunderstorm About .10" so far High gust 18mph out of the north High today 86.8F.
  2. 85/75 Looks like almost perfect timing for some intense convection. Newfound Lake is packed right now with boaters and swimmers
  3. This is true. 4 blinks from 10 to 20. 2 blinks 21-41. 1 blink 41 to my 62. It goes faster and faster. For all of your "youngsters" make the most of every minute. Now to weather 78.4/73F Lots of Cu forming. Will main line form out of the Cu over Central New England to my south or will the line take shape out in N NY state. That is where the storms are starting but will this first area of forming Cu forming steal the action?
  4. Slight risk for parts of NNE tomorrow. Probably more people will be hiking in the mountains or out on the lakes than any other summer day. Not a good combination.
  5. Slight Risk for tomorrow. Probably there will be more people out on the lakes and hiking the mountains of NNE than any other day of the year. Not a good combination
  6. Yes it is! Whoops, Boston not Anchorage Alaska. Anchorage's highest recorded ever was 85F. Broke it with a 90F yesterday. More days of 80's to come.
  7. 85/67F First 85F of 2019. Nice south breeze up on the hill. Looking forward to some showers/storms tomorrow for the gardens
  8. 83/63F Thin cirrus and haze. My house was built in 1795. George Washington was president. My VP2 and Betsy Ross flag stand proudly over this house as they have for many years. Things were different back then but proud to be an American and fly any flag I want. The 15 star flag became the official flag on May 1 1795 as Vermont and I believe Kentucky entered the union
  9. We started watering today to keep the lawns super green. Really wet June but the topsoil drys out so quickly with an early July sun. Hopefully a short downpour or two will keep the gardens going. Now we rely on CF's for rain. It's the haves and have nots. Happy 4th to everyone
  10. Looking at some of the Mexico pictures it looks like the kids were having fun. They probably get some hail from time to time but many have never seen frozen. About 10 years ago we had some visitors from Miami that came up around Thanksgiving. The 3 kids had never seen snow. Ground was bare but it started snowing. Lightly at first but then big wet parachutes that gave us an inch or two. Watching those kids was priceless. They were excited to see the first flakes but then with parachutes they were in awe. Fun stuff!
  11. I was just reading about that crazy hail storm in Guadalajara Mexico yesterday. The NBC story that I just read said that more than 3 feet of hail fell. I don't believe that for a second, I'm sure that low lying areas where water pooled the hail was over 3 feet not a general 3 foot hail coverage. Never the less very impressive. The city is at 5000 in elevation which helps. We never have deep hail here in New England as they do out in the plains. I'm sure elevation helps in that regard. Here is link with some very impressive pictures to the hail story. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/summer-hail-storm-guadalajara-mexico-buries-cars-damages-houses-n1025321?cid=public-rss_20190701
  12. Living in my new climate zone with my aspirated fan VP2 I wonder when I will hit 90F again? 90F here would probably equate to 95F Concord NH and approaching 100F in Metro Boston
  13. Thunder to my East and Southwest. More incoming from the north. Should be a good day for a time lapse later
  14. 84/72F. Don't worry, it cools off by Oct 1rst!
  15. Another great night of thunderstorms for the NW Lakes Region of NH. They weakened as they moved SE of my area. I storm chased last night. Lots of lightning, heavy rain and I caught quite a bit of hail in Plymouth. Great structure. I'm not sure if you could call this a supercell or not but the storm to the right in the picture became very intense. I chased it and got under a slowly rotating low base in Plymouth NH. Hail was to the right of this picture. This storm missed me but the followup storm gave me .54". I have had more thunderstorms this season than all of last summer.
  16. Another night of good storms up here in The Lakes Region. Heavy Rain frequent lightning I had some small hail. About half an inch of rain in the past hour it looks like Plymouth got a lot more.
  17. My house was built in 1795. Wood stove in winter 5 cords of green ordered each May and it seasons in the barn for use the next season. Oil backup if I get lazy but only use about 150 gallons a year. Window AC units as needed in summer but what I do is I have a big vent in the floor to the basement which is below grade and stays very cold. Turn on the basement fan and blows the cold air up. On a day like today that alone cools the house. House, leaks like a sieve but no big deal I love the charm of my antique cape
  18. This is a big decision in New England. Sure is in my area. In NYC south there is no point in even commenting, AC's are in and necessary. Full stop!
  19. Storm about over. 1.09" Stratus but VP2 rain gauge only .89". Pretty big difference with high rates. Temp down to 61F.
  20. I was just outside with so much lightning to see if our field is having enough runoff to flow into our culvert to help fill our pond. It is and that only happens once in a couple of years. Don't know rainfall total yet. Still heavy rain probably about 1.25" so far.
  21. Severe thunderstorm in progress. RA++ Over 1" in stratus lasgt 15 minutes. Peak gust only 17mph. No hail. Main features tons of lightning and rainfall rates
  22. Storm seem to be really intensifying west of me right now. A great lightning show
  23. Just hit 80F. First 80F of 2019.
  24. At 330pm today June 26 hit 80F. First time in 2019 Nice .85" drink for the gardens yesterday
