  1. Alex, fantastic shots. Animal photography is really hard. Squeak toys and tennis balls help. Your dog never looked so good.
  2. A photographer friend came over last night and made a nice time-lapse of the Milky Way from our front lawn. The town of Bristol and greater Concord NH muck up my southern horizon a bit.
  3. Low of 54.1F. Alex in Bretton Woods 43.3F nice!
  4. Congrats Alex 43.3F Nice and toasty on the hill, low 54.1F
  5. We own a 15 acre parcel looking over Newfound Lake. I don't do anything to the grass, just mow once a month. With frequent rains this summer it looks darn good. Anyone want to picnic or camp on it? Free to any AMWX members! Private night under the stars for sure!
  6. 73/69 Overcast. No heat up here today. 2 soaks for the garden past 2 nights 1.05" total. No storms today with lack of heating while SNE bakes again
  7. Last summer I couldn't score a thunderstorm for the life of me. This summer getting hit frequently T storm just ended 67/66F .50" more lighter cells to my SW
  8. 70/67 .58" total. Not a lot of lightning and thunder no wind but nice downpour.
  9. 73/69F Heavy thunderstorm. This came out of nowhere. Just about everything was north all day. Few showers popped up west of me and bam! .55" in the stratus and still going strong.
  10. The bear population seems to be exploding in my area of Central NH. They are everywhere. When one crosses our yard or field it's not even worth getting up off the sofa to take a look.
  11. 82.5F high for me with dews around 60F. Few towering Cu's popping up and down This mid-day timelapse from my front lawn exemplifies what I think of when I think of a perfect summer day. One shower in the distant SW of the view https://video.nest.com/clip/554140cc363e45d5ab5deaedc78f7d88.mp4
  12. Paris, wow. I just Googled their all time high temp 104.7F. Is the 108 official?
  13. That's what it looked to me. Strong straight line wind got under old, crappy construction. Although I don't blame the guy filming it's too bad we didn't see another 30 seconds to see if any kind of wind switch.
  14. Lots of conjecture on my part. I looked up the Cape Sands Inn. So per this picture, it was a west wind that took off the roof. Maybe RFD from the departing circulation. That Inn seems a bit far NW of where the ground circulation would have been? How wide would a small tornado be on the ground? Maybe 500 feet? Wind at the Inn could have gotton under the roof and pulled the whole thing off. We will have to see what the NWS says because much of this damage could just be straight line winds around a broad center.
  15. Hum, definitely rotation but it doesn't really stay intact. I've seen these brief spouts on Newfound Lake. I would rather see something tighter and video of something extending further vertical in a video.
  16. Glad he is safe. Wonder how much of the Cape will be without power. I'm guessing much of the damage will be trees, wires etc.
  17. Fianlly James gets his severe weather and wind. Hope there is not major damage on the Mid Cape. Lots of population. If a tornado on the ground confirmed when was the last time that happened? Must be a very rare event
  18. Wow, tight rotation approaching Hyannis.
  19. 63/61F Light to moderate rain about .20" so far. Windows wide open with cool, refreshing breeze coming through. Feels great after my "heatwave" 85, 89, 86 the past 3 days. I'll take as many 0F days you can throw me but would not mind if I never experience another 95/73 type day in my life. Turning the corner now on the seasons, I would guess right around July 22nd ish? might be New England's max averages?
  20. Totally off subject but this is the only thread people are looking at. Crazy storms down in MD. Look at this webcam 900pm. Just continuous lightning. https://chart.maryland.gov/video/video.php?feed=deffdbfb008f00a2005afa36c4235c0a
  21. Logan with a 98.6F a little while ago. https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=KBOS&time=GMT
  22. Took a nice swim in Newfound Lake yesterday. Water temp 79F. Perfect for me. Newfound Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the northeast. Usually the water vis. is around 20-25 feet. Right now it's 5-9 feet since so much sediment came into the lakes with the flash floods last week Have any of you ridden an electric bike? We bought a couple a few days ago and they are so much fun. Just light pedaling and you're going 20mph. Just took a quick 5 miles bike ride and didn't break a sweat, even with dews in the low 70's. The hill coming up to my house is about a 400 foot vertical rise and could pedal right up.
