  1. Very warm night for me. Still 70F at 3am. Finally around 7am I bottomed out at 66.7F. Overcast this morning. 1/2" of rain for me, please?
  2. 90L just moved off the African coast and is getting it's act together very quickly. Tightening spin at the circulation center. Can't see any reason it will not be Lorenzo very soon. At this very early stage models have it recurving in the Mid Atlantic.
  3. 18Z GFS has a solution a bit like the 12Z Euro. System comes north and then gets stuck before being pushed back west or southwest
  4. 74/62 Noon. If 12Z GFS Central NH gets only a few tenths of rain with the next front. I am 1.55" for the month and 1.15" of that fell on the 2nd. It is getting dry. As far as foliage goes everything was green a few days ago but colors are now becoming noticeable.
  5. Showed this picture to a friend visiting. He insisted it was fake. Argued about it for 10 minutes and could not win. Arrgghhh.
  6. Today was the first day that I noticed the colors really starting to change.
  7. Toasty low of 38.4F. Just high enough to see over the low clouds/fog this morning. No color yet around here except a rogue swamp maple or two. Love this weather more than summer, upper 60's to low 70's.
  8. 54.5/43 (my dew seems a bit high?) Not expecting any frost up here on the hill. Gardens get to live another week at least. Some rain would be nice at some point
  9. Took this screen grab from a video from Great Abaco of the stadium effect from Dorian. Perfectly cleared out eye. Would have loved to get a drone up and have a full look around. It was perfectly calm in the video
  10. Looks like hurricane after hurricane is going to come towards the east coast and round the bend and head out. Lots of watching the next couple of weeks but just teases. This could all change but that is how it's looking at this junture.
  11. Alex, I really don't have a good idea but maybe a theory? Near ground level, at night it is much colder than say 30 or 40 feet up a tree. So maybe the average temperatures at sapling level help them "think" it's later in the season than further up the tree? That is just a hunch??????
  12. I face south so that is light pollution. Bristol NH population 3000 just south of me. Then Franklin NH pop 8500 perhaps 15 miles south of that. Concord NH 35 miles. So looking south lots of pollution.
  13. 69.2F Perfect for cutting about 9 acres of fields for the last time. High clouds coming in now so this temp might be about it
  14. The Milky Way is very prominent in NNE away from towns. I sit out on my deck or on these chairs on a clear, moonless nights and realize how insignificant we are. Amazing people in the cities can never see this. This photo was taken this summer from my front lawn. It's a short time exposure so the Milky Way is slightly brighter in this picture than the naked eye but not much. The lights from Bristol NH 7 miles to my south mucks up my south view. Edit. Also thousands of stars in my night sky. How many can you count in Boston, 25-50?
  15. .09" of rain today. High temp of 57.6F which is right now 515pm. Cloud base has been right around my elevation of 1100 feet. At times vis is less than 1/4 mile and at other times over 5 miles. Ceiling lifting nicely now. Several nickel and dime rain events this week all under .15". One last mowing of the fields tomorrow.
  16. 49F Just had a quick heavy downpour .08" wood stove cranking
  17. Model trends sure are not getting me excited for any tropical action up here. On a side note, what is going on with the death toll in the Bahamas? Official death toll at 50 for many days. I'm sure they have gotten some heavy equipment into that storm surge area of Great Abaco with all those shanties. From what people were saying on the ground the smell of death is everywhere in the air but nobodies? Maybe because it was a poor area with a Haitian population these people somehow don't count. Just seems like such a disconnect. 1500 missing but the death toll never rises not even by 1 or 2 people. There must be some political reason to keep it low?
  18. A high temp around 60F today. Fall is in the air. I have not paid too much attention to down south and was surprised when my Dad said Baltimore hit a record of 98F today. We got up to the upper 70's today. Average high for me is around 72F now. 70F plus days will become fewer and fewer. Don't worry it will cool down by Thanksgiving in Nashville
  19. He knew his stuff. I don't know the direction those windows faced but it would have been deadly in that room if the wind had blown in instead of from the back of the room.
  20. Some good Meme's could come out of that spaghetti model page. 5pm NHC starts advisories on PTC #9
  21. GFS is persistent in forming a tropical system down in the tropics and bringing it up north towards or over the East Coast. Way out in fantasy land but run after run has a system with a trough coming in from the west. If it forms and how it interacts is unknown but if you are a tropical fan this is a setup you would want.
  22. Diane, seriously you should consider it. They are growing so rapidly and Alex is a great guy! I bet something could be worked out and we need another poster in the NNE group
  23. For those of you that are interested, you can watch the first episode of Hurricane Man. I thought the episode which featured Hurricane Michael was well done. I am not sure if this link will work if you don't use facebook. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F317ye9a
