  1. I'm kind of surprised how light the wind is right now. Had a stiff breeze earlier but now the wind is really light. Noted Keene NH past hour had calm winds. Guess no strong high pressure to the north is the reason.
  2. I live almost on top of my 1200 foot hill with Newfound Lake to my southwest, west and northwest. The Cardigan mountain range 2000 to 3000 feet is 10 miles to my west so I don't think downslope will be a factor.
  3. Winds starting to really crank up here on my hill. 12Z Euro lowest pressure 973mb Northfield NH
  4. Got in a drone flight this morning before the storm takes the leaves. The warm water of Newfound Lake always form the fog cloud on cold mornings.
  5. I have a doctors appt in Plymouth on Thursday AM. Depending on how it works out I might take a quick ride up to Franconia Notch. I also watch Alex's cam to see what is happening around 1500 feet in the Whites.
  6. DIT, I don't see that. 969mb east of Cape Cod. As low fills it comes back NW over NNE.

  8. 12Z and 18Z GFS qpf totals. Does this make sense? A sub 980mb low producing less than .50" of precip over a fairly large area?
  9. Great day. High of 64F. Peak foliage in my opinion was this AM. Southwest wind is bringing down leaves. This weeks storm should bring down all the leaves except the oaks. Stick season begins in a few days.
  10. I haven't had a decent rain event since my 1.15" on Sept 2nd. I'll take the rain. We are at 100% peak foliage so even 35mph gusts are going to take down most all the leaves. Maples are vibrant and even oaks are changing. This usually doesn't happen because multiple wind events take down leaves as they change. This year this has not happened. Great foliage year, stick season starts Friday in NNE.
  11. Last year everything changed in late October. Snow fell around Nov 7th and we had constant snowcover till April. People didn't get their fall cleanups done
  12. 56F Few rays of sun, finally Peak foliage
  13. Brisk northeast wind is bringing down a lot of leaves today. Peak would have been this weekend without this wind but trees are being stripped. So my guess is that the Whites are now just past peak.
  14. Foliage looking out the window at my house. The late afternoon sun really pops things! Although it looks like peak on this picture still a fair amount of green around. Few days away at Newfound Lake NH
  15. NBC and ABC evening news at 630pm talked up the Nor easter. I didn't watch CBS. NBC Al Roker, "upwards of 10" of rain" in some areas". "Strong winds, heavy rain and beach erosion, a real mess". Stay safe down there!
  16. Alex and Diane are good people and we get another NNE poster too! All is good even though the SNE storm is not quite working out. Also great sunset possibilities for those on the western edge of the cloud shield later today
  17. Just back from a quick trip up to Quebec City. Wow for NNE and Southern Quebec. Beautiful peak in the Whites and much of N VT all through the St Lawrence River Valley. Geraniums, marigolds and other annuals still in bloom in the city which of course is near the St Lawrence. I wish others could have taken the trip with us, just hours and hours of bright color. Peak seems to now be below 2500 feet in Franconia Notch. No wind the past couple of days so little blow down of leaves. Since we will not get much wind from the coastal Central NH is quickly becoming very colorful. About 50% in my area. Although it was cloudy by the time we got south into Franconia Notch it was still beautiful
  18. What a day up here Quebec City. Sunny and 64 foliage peak. Enjoy your storm down there
  19. Heading south from Quebec City right now will be back in the Lakes Region by 5 p.m. I'll report on the colour. Geraniums and annuals still growing Quebec City. Peak color.
  20. Traveled to Quebec City today. Foliage is about 50% in the NW Lakes Region of NH. It increased to peak in Southern Whites and through Franconia Notch. Just north of the notch was just past peak. Most of the NE Kingdom of Vermont had good color, just past peak. Southern Quebec was at peak except along the St Lawrence River which still had a lot of green. Quebec City area along the river is not at peak yet. For those of you that have never been to Quebec City it is worth the drive. For me in Central NH it is 5 hours about 7 hours from metro Boston. A beautiful old city, everyone speaks French and you really feel you are in France. The exchange rate is $1 US to about $1.33 Canadian so things are cheap. Weather was perfect this afternoon. Sunny skies few Cu, low 60's.
  21. Time sensitive. Check the sunset over much of New England
  22. 56.4F/56F Light rain. Temperature has dropped 6F past few hours. SW winds were gusty all morning but now still SW but very light. Guess front is through but would have expected a wind shift. Now just a cold, raw rainy day.
  23. 56.4/56 Light rain about .20" Temperature has fallen 6F over the past few hours. There was a gusty SW wind this morning but with the falling temperatures it's still SW but very light. Was that the front?
