  1. Kevin, thanks for all your hard work. Just added my 1.50" from yesterday's squalls. Moving up in the world. #15 now!
  2. We just had a wicked squall up here 30 minutes ago. These things mean business.
  3. Extreme snow squall. Just made this video, the worst had just past. Wind is roaring in the trees. Very brief 10 minutes but visability was down into the hundreds of feet. People on Rt 93 are going to be in for a surprise just south of Plymouth
  4. Looking to the west as the sun sets a solid dark line of darkness with tall convective type tops. Some intense stuff in Vermont.
  5. Looks like 4" will be my total. Im at 18" for the season. At least the bare ground is now covered. Even though it will warm up a bit next week still in the mid 30's for highs. Not warm enough to melt 4" so it looks like a white Christmas. No big storms in sight but looking forward to some squalls tomorrow. Maybe add an 1" or so.
  6. 4" total. Very light pixels. I'm moving up in the forum snowfall contest! #18. J Spin and Dave better watch out. If I get a couple of good snow squalls tomorrow PM with the fropa I might move up a couple more notches. At least I'll have a white Christmas next week's highs for me are in the mid 30's. That will not melt much with the lowest sun angle of the year.
  7. 23.3F Light snow vis about 1 mile 3.25" High today was 25.2F . Radar back filling in Vermont a bit so maybe I can score 4" Doesn't look promising for more snow for the rest of the year so those that have snow cover will have to hope for retainage for a white Christmas. Snowmobile trails will have to stay shut down at least in Central New England. This storm is not enough to get it done.
  8. Tomorrow later afternoon looks very interesting for upslope areas. Zooming in on Alex's area my snow products are showing over 6-9" in squalls. I would guess the shoot would want snow coming down but with the arctic front it looks like near blizzard conditions later in the day
  9. 25F Light snow. Vis 3/4 mile. Finally big dendrites again after a couple of hours of very light snow Slightly over 2"
  10. 24F Cloudy light snow grains. Nice snow NNE and heavy precip SNE. My area of CNE getting the shaft
  11. Back to very light snow here. Bigger than snow grains but not by much 22F 1.5" just measured vis 1 mile ish
  12. 22F Moderate snow. Small flakage. Then it mixes in with big dendrites. Big dendrites become more frequent and soon they become prominent. Another couple of minutes they become smaller again. Rinse and repeat. I have noticed this happen in other storms too. Does this happen with rain drops too but is not as noticeable?
  13. Just reading up on the thread as to what happened last evening. Had know idea. We did have a moderate snow squall that whitened the ground and blew around. Every once in a while a streamer gets across the Greens on a west flow. Hoping for a few inches tomorrow. Frost will get deep in the ground without a protective coat of white.
  14. Not so great for SNE but I'll take the 18Z GFS for Central NH. Nice little storm for Brian and me. This is the Kuchera product with comparison to 12Z.
  15. The flow is from the west and not the northwest or north. So my guess is the Greens are going to get accumulations as they go below freezing. West flow is not nearly as good for you as northwest since that different lifts the air right into Bretton Woods and the mountains just to your south
  16. Flipping the "turn on upslope machines buttons for NNE". That will not help me. Counting on Monday night/Tuesday
  17. 43F Moderate drizzle and light rain. 1.78" stratus so far Last evening will be remembered as one of the worst commutes in a long time. Total s..tshow. NWS put up a winter weather advisory I believe late morning or certainly by afternoon but the state seemed totally unprepared in the Lakes Region. Maybe because this was advertised as a big rainstorm in all areas. Light snow grains and a bit of light snow started here mid day. All afternoon we had snow grains that left a slight coating. Temps in the mid to upper 20's. Heavier freezing rain began later in the day and the roads became skating rinks. I think it was because the previous rainstorm washed away any residual salt/sand. Also the ground was very cold. So everything including Rt 93 from about Exit 20 on up through this area of Exit 26 was ice covered. 90 minute commute from a friend for 25 miles with many, many accidents on Rt 93 and all the state roads around here. Temperatures went above freezing by midnight. When warm air comes from above it really takes a long time to scour out at low levels, especially with light winds. NNE snowcover seems decimated. Now we can look forward to a system on Monday night. I am worried it will be so weak it will trend south and leave NNE out of anything meaningful. Maybe a few inches to whiten things back up. There is very little snowfall left in my area. I don't see any storms after that for awhile, just some weak systems. Ski resorts like Tenney without snow making are going to really hurt. Upslope fluff will not be enough.
  18. Wow, my local facebook page is going crazy with stories of nightmare roads right now. Worse than most all snowstorms.
  19. NH State police say 7 accidents on I 93 just between exits 20 and 23. Telling people to stay off the roads. Winter weather advisory is up but for some reason the state seemed to caught off guard at least north of Concord NH
  20. 30.7F Light freezing rain A friend of mine just posted this on her facebook page. 1&1/2 hour, 25 mile ride home from Belmont to Bristol. A few accidents, many cars off the road and my traction light on the dash going crazy the whole way. DRIVE CAREFUL NH! It's rain now (we had a snow flurry earlier) but the road's and temps are still below freezing. Hats of the the crews keeping us all safe tonight!
  21. 30.5F Freezing rain, drizzle and fog. Town is sanding/salting roads. Very slippery. Should be over soon. Hope the rain cleans the roads of so much salt they are putting down.
  22. 28.9F Light to moderate freezing rain. After a couple of hours of snow grains that coated the ground thinly the freezing rain has put a nice ice coat on it. Ground is really cold after temps in the 20's all day. People walking outside may be into a nice surprise.
  23. 27.6/23 Light snow and snow grains. Roads becoming dusted white. Vis about 2-3 miles. Just noted WWA up. Makes sense. Will be interesting to see if it's sleet or just freezing rain before we go above freezing
  24. Rainer on Saturday. Maybe wrap around moisture will help a little bit. Storm early next week is trending in the wrong direction but looks colder than Saturdays. Follow up system after that perhaps but that is out in fantasy land. Southern New England is killing it in the snowfall department. Mostly bare ground around here. Wildlife must be loving that.
