21.7F Flipping back to snow after hours of sleet. These kind of storms are more fun weather wise trying to figure out what will be happening hour by hour
Thanks Scott. I should go back and read more pages from time to time before asking questions
Getting scalped right now. Big sleet almost the size of small hail. Pinging everywhere
23 Sleet with pixel dust. I'm surprised I am straight sleet while there is legit flakage way to my south. I am much closer to the cold source of air yet no snow the past couple hours, just the pixel dust crap
Interesting obs from me
31.4/25 Light snow now mixing with sleet. Light snow started awhile ago at 31.7/24. We have a dusting but is changing to sleet. That was not suppose to happen this far northeast I don't believe. I thought I'd get an initial burst before any changeover. Sleet started much earlier than i expected up here
So Grey Maine decided not to include Grafton County NH into the winter storm warning area. Sometimes they break the county into 2. Most of the population is in that far SE corner (Plymouth area). With 1.50" of qpf and perhaps a lot of sleet mixed in which makes roads worse I would have gone with a warning.
Idiots are out on Newfound Lake walking on very thin ice. I took the drone up yesterday. Lake just skimmed over a few nights ago but days have been above freezing with nights in the upper 20's. This really puts first responders at risk. New snow will cover this thin ice tonight making things very dangerous all week without any arctic blast to follow.
Drone video over Newfound that I took Sat PM
I don't see the Euro snow amounts but for Dendriteland I think you need to tick up that 2-4" snow forecast then pellets for you by a few inches. 1.60" is a lot of qpf
18Z Euro increases the freezing rain threat. I have no idea how accurate these are but here is the Weatherbell freezing rain product. 1" of ice would definately cause huge problems
Thanks Brian. Always curious as to your thoughts of sensible weather up here. Perhaps new GFS is slightly colder? Maybe I can be far enough north not to ping? Still near 36 hours away and more fine tuning needed. One way or another should be a plowable snow even with some pinging at times. Time to start catching up to the SNE snowfall totals.
Could this be the biggest weather impact event of the season for New England? 1-2.5" of qpf with a big cold high to the northeast. Impossible forecast for sensible weather in any one location but someone is going to have a potential big freezing rain situation going on with sleet and snow to the north. Long event too. Bigger event all and all over a general 6-12" snow storm.
Struggling up to 30F at noon. Light freezing rain. Main roads are fine but the hill dirt roads are ice skating rinks. I have lots of errands to do but can't get off my hill yet.
Not disecting the models like you guys do but I'll take the GFS. Maybe I'll barely be able to hold onto snow for this run. Then as secondary gets going and pivots around just keeps snow going and going into Tuesday.
Meanwhile 29F Thick freezing fog and drizzle and my dirt road and driveway is a skating rink. Cold air rules.
