  1. The flow is from the west and not the northwest or north. So my guess is the Greens are going to get accumulations as they go below freezing. West flow is not nearly as good for you as northwest since that different lifts the air right into Bretton Woods and the mountains just to your south
  2. Flipping the "turn on upslope machines buttons for NNE". That will not help me. Counting on Monday night/Tuesday
  3. 43F Moderate drizzle and light rain. 1.78" stratus so far Last evening will be remembered as one of the worst commutes in a long time. Total s..tshow. NWS put up a winter weather advisory I believe late morning or certainly by afternoon but the state seemed totally unprepared in the Lakes Region. Maybe because this was advertised as a big rainstorm in all areas. Light snow grains and a bit of light snow started here mid day. All afternoon we had snow grains that left a slight coating. Temps in the mid to upper 20's. Heavier freezing rain began later in the day and the roads became skating rinks. I think it was because the previous rainstorm washed away any residual salt/sand. Also the ground was very cold. So everything including Rt 93 from about Exit 20 on up through this area of Exit 26 was ice covered. 90 minute commute from a friend for 25 miles with many, many accidents on Rt 93 and all the state roads around here. Temperatures went above freezing by midnight. When warm air comes from above it really takes a long time to scour out at low levels, especially with light winds. NNE snowcover seems decimated. Now we can look forward to a system on Monday night. I am worried it will be so weak it will trend south and leave NNE out of anything meaningful. Maybe a few inches to whiten things back up. There is very little snowfall left in my area. I don't see any storms after that for awhile, just some weak systems. Ski resorts like Tenney without snow making are going to really hurt. Upslope fluff will not be enough.
  4. 27.6/23 Light snow and snow grains. Roads becoming dusted white. Vis about 2-3 miles. Just noted WWA up. Makes sense. Will be interesting to see if it's sleet or just freezing rain before we go above freezing
  5. Rainer on Saturday. Maybe wrap around moisture will help a little bit. Storm early next week is trending in the wrong direction but looks colder than Saturdays. Follow up system after that perhaps but that is out in fantasy land. Southern New England is killing it in the snowfall department. Mostly bare ground around here. Wildlife must be loving that.
  6. My prediction is that by 7pm tomorrow night it will be snowing up there. No big deal but a touchup. This weekend looks kind of interesting. Noreaster coming up the coast. Right now it looks more wet than white but just a slight shift to the SE might be enough for snow at the higher elevations. Then after that yet another system next week. Active pattern.
  7. 35F and rain about to begin. Seems like it's a very active pattern for NNE. Warm and rain. Then cold with some upslope. Another storm this weekend that looks mixed. Then early next week yet another storm. So many changes. All and all it doesn't look good for snow but if next weekends storm went further east perhaps enough cold air for frozen? Too far away
  8. Alex, like you said, finally sun. Now a couple of days of rain/fog/darkness. Pack takes a hit but then a couple of days of upslope to give you a refresher. Wonder when your next sunny day will be? Hope you and the family are enjoying the sunshine. Looks nice.
  9. 19f clear skies good visibility but snowflakes in the air. It was like this all night every time I turned on the spotlight very small flakes with a bright moon. Never saw this when I lived in metro Bosron
  10. Clipper gave me 3". Nice little event
  11. The trend in all the models I looked at is a bit stronger each run. The Euro gives me about 3.5" if I use the Kuchera ratios. Maybe some might be surprised around the evening commute in the Manchester/Concord areas of NH. No big deal but this looks to sneak under the radar a bit.
  12. 30.2F Moderate to heavy snow squalls have made it over the mountains. Quick 1/4" Temp fell from 36 to 30F over the past 15 minutes. Nice to share in the fun
  13. Typical morning with down-sloping cold air advection. NW to SE cloud streamers off the mountains. Got up to 36F or so and now falling back Deer are back with the annual winter hunt for apples under the snow. Lots of tracks mostly behind the house that you can't see. Only 4-5" at the snow stake. Wonder how much of it we can melt with the brief warm up early next week?
  14. Thanks, I appreciate this. They are excellent.
  15. I have been gone all day at Dartmouth Hitchcock and have not been very up with this storm. 5" storm total for me and looks like just a couple of inches in Lebanon. Just got home and have not read the boards since early this morning but turned on the TV. Snow amounts, 36" New Ipswich NH and the Monadnock area. Wow.
  16. ....and on the other side of the NH notches not a cloud in the sky all day. Next storm looks like it's shifting south a bit. Maine may cash in late in the game but looks like a screw job for much of interior NNE. Could be some epic amounts in SNE.
  17. This uncoming storm is driving me nuts. Sharp cut off line between heavy snow and a nuisance few inches of fluff. Southern Grafton County NH where I live will be living life on the edge. It's a no brainer to go with WSW for S NH through Brian but for me WWA or WSW? Model trend was inching north all night and now back south. Maine will catchup on Monday night but will it fill in back here?
  18. I see the same thing over the years on Franconia Notch. Lincoln is sunny and dry, Franconia cloudy with flurries. The NW upslope makes all the difference. If you like snow you picked the right place to live. Would have you been miserable if when you were scouting locations you picked North Conway or Lincoln? Partly cloudy 28F here bare ground for the most part
  19. Happy Thanksgiving to you AMWX NNE's. Congrats to the areas just north of me that got snow. Had a mix with the heavier rain bands last evening. About 25% of old snow remains while up at Alex's it's a Winter wonderland.
  20. 625pm Wed Heavy rain and snow 38.6F 75% rain but with catpaws and few mangled flakes Surprised snow is mixed in
  21. 43.6F lots of melting going on Found this picture taken yesterday of my ridge line. This is looking north from South part of Bristol NH. That white area below the black square are our fields below the house. 1100 feet. We were high enough to have a snow cover but above us it coated the trees too. Peaked Hill to the right of the house is 1940 feet the tallest hill in the local area.
  22. Couple of days ago when you had that beautiful snowfall north of the notch was amazing too. Totally bare ground in Lincoln. Even the mountains around town were bare. Drive into Franconia Notch and come out the other side with substantial snowcover on the ground and on the trees. Guess that how it is on the different sides of the VT spine but it's think it's more rare here for abrupt changes. Maybe not? In any event you have had constant snowcover for a couple of weeks now.
  23. Fropa 130pm. Temp rising quickly as we mix out. Euro seems interesting to me for Sunday. Marginally cold for snow . 850 and 925mb and surface temps from Brian's north right around freezing.
  24. Enjoy it. Cold front in a couple of hours then upslope snow this evening and back into the deep freeze.
  25. Beautiful warm sunny day. Did a quick ride north through Franconia Notch. 100% clear in Lincoln with no snow on the ground. Snowcover quickly builds through the notch and north of there was absolutely beautiful. No wind and perfect temperatures to make every tree just a mantle of white.
