  1. We normally ski in Maine, but I took my son to Attitash last season as a change of pace. It was my first time there, and I was shocked at how shoddy the infrastructure seemed. It was as if the place was stuck in the '80s; felt like I was in Hot Tub Time Machine.
  2. Yeah, certainly looking like a car-wash here after a brief burst of snow. Ski areas are in good shape at least.
  3. First post of the season for me after some occasional lurking... About 5-6" here in Scarborough, ME. Certainly nothing special in terms of intensity or duration, but nice to cover things back up again - and glad we'll have a pack for the upcoming cold snap.
  4. With the exception of 12/17, every single event underperformed here. That applied to even the smallest events, when the bar was set very low (eg, forecast 1-2” yielded zilch). We’re right at or slightly below our seasonal snow average, and have gotten there with one big early storm + a few pedestrian events. Temps have been remarkably stable/meh, and we haven’t gotten below zero. Pretty forgettable season overall, with the unfortunate exception of Grinch - which was meteorologically interesting but aesthetically devastating. I give it a C-minus.
  5. Good ski and syrup weather incoming. I accepted long ago that March is often anticlimactic. I’ll appreciate the cold nights, warmer sun and lengthening days. “Spring” will surely be miserable, so I don’t mind dry conditions now.
  6. Some of the worst black ice I’ve experienced coming home an hour or so ago - including on 95 near Portland/Westbrook.
  7. 0.62” RN, now up to 41. What’s left of our thin pack is taking a significant hit. Bare spots all around.
  8. Light rain, 36F. Snow total of 0.0” (maybe it goes down as a trace since we had some off-and-on wet flakes earlier?)
  9. Had a brief burst of moderate fatties at onset. Now more of a light white rain.
  10. Looks like another shot of cold rain here, and then we torch again on Sunday. Bare ground rapidly reappearing.
  11. I hate model-watching in late March, partly because I always forget that the runs are an hour later thanks to DST.
  12. Over a half-inch of rain. Am I supposed to be clearing every couple hours?
  13. Every event since 12/17 has found a way.
  14. We had a couple hours of non-accumulating snow this afternoon which transitioned into plain old rain. Just over 0.40" in the gauge, 38F.
  15. And PWM just barely cracked 40” - just under 1/2” below normal to date. Meh-ing our way to climo.
  16. Man, did that fluff from last night vaporize this morning - at least on pavement. The snowblower's only been fired up once since December.
  17. Ended up with just under 3” of fluff here last night. Fittingly for this recent stretch, I had to drive south to get into it. I left snizzle and wet roads at Sunday River and came home to fatties and snow-covered streets here. Looks great out there. I have to admit that I’m sort of looking forward to the mild-up.
  18. You mean we're not going to see 20+" over the next 10 days???
  19. There's definitely a curve. Once you're past a certain point in a marriage, spouses relish space. It's good to have separate hobbies. As for this threat, it's interesting that a lot of model runs have featured a little finger of moderate QPF reaching up into southern ME. Of course, I'm now up in Bethel so at best I'll see an inch or two of fluff - but I'll take what I can get. I'm just glad my ski getaway didn't coincide with a torch or atmospheric river.
  20. Yeah, those light super light green shades and Dewey-decimal QPF totals are not easy on the eyes.
  21. I think that trying to read models on my phone has cost me a couple years' worth of eyesight. Can't do it without reading glasses now.
  22. Similar here. I've been puzzled by those 10% numbers all season. They've often seemed implausible based on synoptics.
  23. This last one really broke me. Seemed like our best shot in a while. Oh well - looking forward to a couple wintry days at Sunday River...
  24. Jacked and pumped for another 36-48 hour event where we eke out 1-3". Lock it in.
