One area in particular that is seeing a brunt of the action is far western Maryland. Upstream radar echoes have been rather intense and accompanied by a slew of lightning strikes. Although trends have shown some weakening of this activity, lightning data still shows a number of strikes near western Garrett County. Will maintain the threat for thunder across the Alleghenies the next several hours, particularly in light of the robust nature of precipitation cores over central West Virginia.

You could tell early on that it was going to shift south based on the H5 maps
