This winter does feel much better compared to last year. The entire month has seen about 1-4" on the ground and cold. So it's allowed winter activities to happen and for winter to feel like winter.
-
Take a look at this haha. Last year at this time I said going to be one of the worst winters on record for Hamilton and you laughed (I agree anything can happen but I ended up being right) This is starting to look like another top 10 least amount of snow year at Hamilton airport https://hamilton.weatherstats.ca/charts/snow-wyearly.html
-
Happened to me last year. I brought it up this time of the year and you said unlikely it happens haha. Then we didnt see much snow the rest of the year Im a bit more skeptical it happens two years in a row though
-
Hamilton is at 10" so far. Big difference the last 2 seasons across the GTA
-
Im also not trying to say the airport is messing up but most of the NWS spotters in that area report 5-9" on the ground. Still compacting but 30" of lake snow to 5-9" makes more sense. Well actually I am saying that haha
-
I don't think thats really correct. 10" off Lake Huron that produces blizzard conditions for 2 days still produced blizzard conditions whether or not it melted within 5 days because its "fake" Im at 9" now on the season and have had over 1" on the ground for 2 weeks plus. The snow on the ground though has never gone above 2-3" and though it helps raise the grade of the winter barely it's useless to me since its been just above grass tips for most of it. I do understand what your saying though
-
haha thats okay. Most of the GTA only has 1-4" on the ground so not like we're losing a sweet snowpack. Im also intrigued in river flooding if the pattern flips fast enough with ice jams

Someone in Louisiana might have more snow compared to a city of 700K on the western end of Lake Ontario at the end of January haha -

I love your optimism and I’ll wait a few more weeks but unless something drastic happens Hamilton isn’t hitting average. It would have to be one of the snowiest 10 weeks I’ve ever seen Toronto is a bit closer sitting at 16” Hamilton is at 8” average for both is 40-45” a winter -
Just missed it by about 10km
-
Wow Im only slightly above 8" and YYZ is near 16" after today. You're cleaning up this year haha. Hamilton and Toronto typically average the same amount but the last few years have been a big change.

lol same thing was said last year at this time and we didnt see much more haha. February last year saw 3" March 6" April 0.1" Since rest of January on the models looks pretty bleak and Im at 6.7" on the year it's not crazy to think it might be close. I do think I go over 20" though -

Fall/Winter '24 Banter and Complaints Go Here

Ya, December wasn't that bad especially since most of the GTA had a white Christmas. Though we're also at 22cm for the season haha. Same thing happened last year at this time, eventually the hole to get to average becomes too big. We should be around 16" so far not 8" and if nothing much happens next few weeks that quickly grows as January is our most snowy month. I dont think this year will be as bad as last but it's not looking great. Last year I only got 17" and so far here I'm at 6" haha -
Mondays system didnt do much for me down here just south of Hamilton but we snuck in a white Christmas. Im at 5.8" for the season so far. I ended with 17.7" last year so hopefully I beat that haha

Ya, the older I get the more Im starting to like warmth. I dislike back loaded winters as well so losing the first snow month right off the bat stinks haha -

Buffalo received 22" that day. Toronto had some flurries in the air and I remember how cold it was walking home from school -

Starting to look like some Wet Snow may fall in the somewhat populated region of North Eastern Ontario From the weather network The precursor to this will be a sharp cold front crossing southern Ontario on Friday, igniting a non-severe thunderstorm risk and ushering in a dramatic pattern change to chilly, October-like temperatures. In fact, as temperatures hover just above the freezing mark across northeastern Ontario overnight Friday, it's possible some people will even see wet snow mixed with heavy rainfall over the region.

I’m down in Windsor for work and if it can hit 95F that would be the hottest I’ve felt this summer
