    Watching that cell pass north of purcellville while I get gapped… AGAIN. Possibly those cells popping up near/north of front royal actually make their way here, but…

    Went over to mom’s house today in fairfax. Lots of cloud cover inhibited convection, and only at 4 pm a cell came over us. Non-severe. Decent downpour knocked temps back to low 80s. Drove back to ashburn at 5 pm, temps shot back up to 92 and sunny. It’s hot out. And dry as a bone.

    Wasn’t bullish as soon as I woke up today. Too much cloudiness to really break the cap

    Brief downpour with a few gusts. Nothing to write home about. At least it wet the ground just enough

    Nothing on radar, but clouds are darkening overhead. Dc metro might see something fire up soon

    Why is there such a disparity between these 3? Especially CDAS vs. CRW? Should we take the average of the 3, or toss the outliers?

    And he knows his stuff. When he talks, I pay attention. Doesn’t mean he’s always right, it’s the nature of being a meteorologist.

    Yeah, and I think one reason this nino has not collapsed (yet) despite lack of wwbs is that there’s a ton of subsurface warmth

    In cpc’s recent update the model anomaly forecasts showed a temporary pause or slight cooling in July, then resume warming up Aug-Oct.

    Got jumped again. Ashburn. So this is how it’s gonna be…

    Much higher than 6-8k ft. Once you start seeing anvils forming, those towers have already reached the tropopause.

    LWX seems a little late with their morning update. Gun shy about this afternoon?

    I wouldn't be surprised if areas that got no rain yesterday gets it today, and vice versa.

    I think I saw the genesis of the cluster that went through NE MD earlier. Started out as an innocuous cumulus that didn’t really stand out. Only a few minutes later, it was a towerhead. An hour later, huge anvil covering the entire NE quadrant from my POV (ashburn). Blue skies all around it. Sour grapes for getting zip imby aside, it was a really cool progression to see from behind.

    Seeing some towerheads building to my NE now. Gray high clouds to my W makes it look like something is brewing, but hard to tell
