  4. No need to spend hundreds a year. You can legally buy every chemical online and diy. The same exact stuff the professionals charge you $900 is available online for probably $40. https://www.domyown.com/
  5. I use the rat zapper on chipmunks. Instant and painless death. They cause a ton of damage here as well.
  6. This is how you dew it. What a spectacular day..
  7. New England’s power system remains reliable despite widespread hot weather across the region. On Tuesday evening, ISO New England declared a Power Caution after unexpected generation outages left the region short of meeting its operating reserve requirements. The timing of the outages prevented additional resources from coming online in time for the evening peak.
  8. Some locations could possibly not dip below 77 this morning resulting in an incredibly warm start. A rapid heat-up is expected again with potential for slightlyhigher humidity. Dew points in the mid 70s are expected and could briefly push portions of Addison/Rutland/Chittenden County to a 105 heat index
  9. Wow. Burlington VT with an overnight low of 80.6.
  10. BTV putting up an overnight low of 80? Wow.
  11. I'm going to measure this tulip poplar at my lake cabin in NW NJ when I head there in a few days. This thing is an absolute monster of a tree and one of the largest in the area. There are also some huge poplars here in Branford as well.
  12. I know 2 people in CT that were bitten by a lone star tick and have alpha-gal syndrome and can no longer eat red meat. Meat Allergy Cases Linked To Tick Bites Growing In Connecticut: CDC One county in Connecticut may have higher rates of the tick-borne meat allergy, according to two new CDC studies. https://patch.com/connecticut/across-ct/meat-allergy-cases-linked-tick-bites-growing-connecticut-cdc
  13. Cedarwood oil is extremely effective and also safe for pollinators. I spray my yard with a product called wondercide weekly and I never find ticks on my dog when he's in the treated yard. Pleasant-Smelling Wood Oil Not So Pleasant for Biting Ticks, Other Pests https://www.ars.usda.gov/news-events/news/research-news/2022/pleasant-smelling-wood-oil-not-so-pleasant-for-biting-ticks-other-pests/
  14. BLD is decimating the beech's here. All the beach trees here are either completely dead and the small ones just have leaves that come out then turn brown and die.
  15. Launching high this morning..
  16. 7 AM update... Not as cool as previous mornings, as blanket of mid level clouds precluded temps from free falling overnight. In fact, Boston did not fall below 70 degs last night. Thus, off to a milder start and this will help temps peak to 80-85 away from the coastline today
  17. 68 already at BDL. First 90 of the season today?
  18. Great summer forecast from Don on the NYC forum. Tomorrow will be partly to mostly sunny and warm. The temperature will rise into the lower 80s. A few warmer spots could top out in the middle 80s. Cooler air will begin to arrive on Wednesday with the temperature reaching the upper 70s. Thursday and Friday will see highs mainly in the lower 70s. The latest summer guidance continues to suggest a warmer to much warmer than normal summer lies ahead. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was -1.1°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +0.2°C for the week centered around May 15. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged -0.25°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +0.57°C. Neutral conditions are imminent. The SOI was +9.44 yesterday. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.381 today. On May 25 the MJO was in Phase 3 at an amplitude of 1.584 (RMM). The May 24-adjusted amplitude was 1.671 (RMM). Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 100% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal May (1991-2020 normal). May will likely finish with a mean temperature near 65.3° (2.1° above normal).
  19. Feels like mid July here on the shoreline. Just deep summer....
