  1. Unexpectedly windy today but nice otherwise. I am getting some drizzles now though, also unexpected.
  2. Got whacked hard a little while ago. Branches down and power flicked off a few times. Only .74 for 3 rounds but it was torrential for a few minutes with each one, the 3rd was the "best". That makes it about 3" in 3 days.
  3. You have to have resident parking passes there right? Is there even a non-res rate?
  4. I had a couple tenths more overnight too. I've been doing a xeriscape thing a little at a time on a steep hillside along the driveway for the last two weeks. I run the hose for a minute or two to see where the water wants to flow then direct where I want it. That rain yesterday was so heavy it showed me all the faults I "harvested" all the rocks from the property, I've been stashing the ones the mower catches for years, used some in the garden and a few other spots and had tons of them slightly buried. I dug a bunch of big stuff up and screened a ton of gravel and washed it with the big rocks. Other than my back truly feeling like shit today after setting a couple of 150>300 pounders yesterday by hand I feel pretty good when I go out to the driveway and look at it. It's still a work in progress but it's pretty gratifying to control water flow while building out a native plant garden that has food plants mixed with a variety of succulents and Eastern Prickly Pear cactus.
  5. Third round was another .5 bringing the total for the day to 1.3.
  6. Ridgefield/Danbury got hammered around 3:30 when I was there.
  7. .3 first round and a really quick .5 the second round.
  8. You're just annoyed because... you suck at golf.
  9. *BLAM* ZAP* BANG* :) Yeah pretty good storm going on, 1.5"/HR stuff with some crisp crackly thunder and lightning.
  10. I don't think I like the new normal
  11. This dense fog is a good thing, gives the garden one more day before it starts burning up
  12. I have no caterpillar problems at all this year, in fact my backyard trees are denser than ever. It's deep shade and 70° in the backyard right now, it's absolutely beautiful. I'm dreading the upcoming warmth and have to spend at least 2 daysin WNY, I bet it'll be 100+ out there.
  13. The overnight rain Friday night/Sat morning counts as weekend wetness (IMO).
  14. Just a few miles NW of you and I only got .11
  15. .11 Blah, wanted more.
  16. I can appreciate beautiful days that are that way because the clouds don't break so it stays at about 80°. Now it's crystal clear and 70° with a nice breeze. I don't need the incoming warmth, I really don't.
  17. Talk to LB You forgot the extreme heat king @LibertyBell I had .28 yesterday with a little bit of that overnight so didn't have to water today but the wind did a pretty good job of drying out the surface today. I'm sure the hanging plants will need watering tomorrow with the ground stuff probably good for another day or two.
  18. I went out for a garden walk with shorts on. Turned around and went back in to put on jeans.
  19. Need to water the hanging plants every day the last week or so and ground stuff every other. It's too bad the critters ate all of my broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce
  20. I spent the last two days driving around Upstate working with the windows open because it was so damned nice Yesterday it got pretty cool through the Fingerlakes though and I had to put on a hat because my bald head was actually cold
  21. I gave up paying attention to the totals recently when I passed 80" since it started getting wet last June. There was one month last year that I got a bunch of convective stuff that you guys out west didn't get and a few backdoor rainy days that added up that didn't get west of the Taconics but left me soggy.
  22. And 10 of those 11 have been in the last 12.
  23. Most people are talking about caterpillars and their poop, I've had slugs falling out of the sky every time the wind blows hard today. They're stuck to the side of the house a few feet off the ground, it's weird. While I was grilling tonight one fell on the grill top when it was closed and started sizzling and squirming. ick
