  1. so far, .70" of rain here, highest gust was 18, less than 10 sustained... and to think how insane the news made everyone yesterday rushing the stores around here, thinking the sky was falling. even my dad, knowing I've been following and studying weather for the better part of the last 4 decades, still watching the news and parking his car away from a 200 year old tree... unbelievable
  2. about 3 here in boxborough, only about a half an inch when I left winsted at 5 this morning...but the drive in, from about belchertown to auburn was a nightmare, then up 495 it wasn't bad, until I got here, then goose feathers put a couple inches down in a matter of less than an hour, just mod flakes now...congrats on those under that band, good April dumping, reminds me of I think 82, or 83, when we got hammered during spring break..
  3. 4.5 hours to boxborough from Winsted...
  4. just recorded a 43 mph gust...18 sustained, outta nowhere it came roaring in
  5. it'll be gone by the time I get back, at least I trained my wife how to properly measure when I travel, the last year it's been a LOT too, because nobody wants to do work, but not complaining, as long as they don't take away the ot I'm good with travel and running 5 programs at once. miss the fam tho
  6. wish I was there to see it...unexpected business trip to the boxboro, my second home for the last two years...
  7. never saw a flake here in boxboro... now rain washing my truck
  8. wife says 3" on the level now rain in Winsted
  9. I'm up in boxboro today unfortunately but wifey says 1.5" otg new in Winsted as of 1430. just some pellets and a few drops here off 111.
  10. what's up with the bung hole over wtby? i mean it kinda fits...
  11. believe I'm at 58.8, I'll confirm once my laptop cooperates... I'm 20 under avg for since I started taking obs here and I think about 25 or so from the average of the spreadsheet I sent you going back to the 30's.
  12. my avg is a bit more, it's gonna take a few nickel and dime events to get there, but my avg since I moved here and started my own obs is around 78, that includes three sub 50" years, but the average I came up with from the closest obs station to me is more like 85, doubt that gets hit but I'd be ok with 60, especially after the Jan we had.
  13. this may get me over 60 for the season, I take
  14. did I see an official report from northford of 8"? that area north of New Haven has had some good jacks in recent years...and that'll about do it, 4.5" storm total is what I'm submitting
  15. looks like back edge approaching, maybe a little burst to end, and make her done...good luck eastern peeps, looks like a couple more hours of the goods
  16. just past 4.5" here storm total... and still SN, vis under 1/2sm atm, nice fatties falling now
  17. Arguably the best snow of the long duration even here right now, good growth, and it appears the band is not in a hurry to move east, hopeful on maybe another inch or more to get me close to 5, which is where we were pegged by ALY from the start...did any model other than the short range sniff out this band at the end here? I do not remember seeing this.
  18. 30/24.. may top 4" after all with this band development... just over 3.5 total since yesterday morning... radar looks like it wants to snow a little longer, keep it coming...
  19. 3 on the nose here, had 1.25 yesterday, so almost 2 overnight, almost at 60 for the season with grim outlook going forward, not exactly climo but not a ratter winter either. perhaps we can manage a blue bomb in morch...
  20. 1.25" new since 5am... we'll see if anything else transpires tonight and tomorrow
  21. just got back home from Waterbury where I estimate about 2", about.75 at home and round 2 looks like it will be north of my area so stuck in between... those echoes in the OHRV look interesting indeed, will have to watch. despite radar, it's-SN here still.
  22. coming down righteous in my old stomping grounds of Waterbury I'd say visibility under a half a mile Nice flake size
  23. i honestly don't see anything more than 3-5" anywhere unless we tick north a little more, or some mid-level magic forcing, but that seems to be a couple hundred miles south...shame I was hoping for a decent thumping...btw, 0430 waking every day, never set an alarm in my life, just always awoke at that time for some reason, doesn't mean I always got up and did stuff but wake up regardless.
  24. I will gladly take Georges prognostication...welcome btw...but based on what I see in the upper levels, right now seems safe to safe 6-8 region wide, or course lollies under meso bands, not a CCB like the 2/2 system had, imho, at least not as potent...yet, 700/850 fronto seems like nice placement though now.
