  1. hey, at this point I'll take those blues over nothing, maybe I can baby step my way to 40" this year, only need about 16... talking about no power, I had no gas for an entire winter, luckily had electric tho, so I had a plug in hot plate to heat water for bathing and closed off one room with heavy blankets and used a space heater, those were not fun times, totally my fault due to lifestyle choice, thankfully I've learned valuable lessons...
  2. we had to stay with the in-laws because of the baby
  3. yeah, I remember going out after midnight in Oct, power already gone, and just hearing nothing but tree limbs and trees snapping everywhere it was surreal, then watching the 60' spruce fall on my neighbor's house was not good, luckily nobody hurt
  4. that was the second of a week and a half of power loss that year, Irene happened a week after my kid was born and we had no power for 7, then Oct we lost for 12, with a new born...that sucked
  5. i don't want ZR, I'll take a scalping all day over that crap, never understood why anyone would want a crippling ice storm, no power, can't go anywhere, but looks pretty on trees is about it, hoping to avoid that and stay white with pellets at best here...
  6. radar blossom under LI, meso low perhaps?
  7. snizzled our way to almost half an inch here, it's been moderate at times but if this continues all night, I'll get an inch...woo.,hoo!
  8. it's been snowing here for about a half hour, we coat...ALY still saying 1-2"SN and up to .200" ice accretion, should be interesting tomorrow morning if that pans out.
  9. gfs really close to a phased event after the 20th, but extreme clown range, would be nice to have a capture and stall cutoff just dumping for a couple days though, if any period is going to deliver it'll be from the 20th to the ides of March it seems
  10. about checks out, that data I've gathered for my location goes back to late 1800s and avg is between 78-87, depending on which site, mine is more around 82, Norfolk closer to 90, they got a few hundred feet on my location though
  11. gotta say a little disappointed in the last couple events amounts, but I'll take these over cold dry and windy for days and days, at least there's something to track.
  12. little disappointed to wake up and see about 3.5-4" out there and snizzle, guess HRRR was right last night as it kept taken em down... wondering if we could get that area to wrap around and at least lay down a couple inches, but will probably fizzle by the time it rotates through
  13. lots of convection off the NJ coast blowing up... transfer underway?
  14. nice band setting up from ALY to Springfield, anything heavy under that?
  15. looks like a nice fronto band from about the pike region up to the north Mass border, expect some double digits somewhere in that area. i was hoping for some love a little more south for mby, but I'll be happy with 4-6" here, and keep the train coming
  16. this would get me well on my way to climo .. currently just over 20" season to date, just hoping to cash in on this pattern because we all know they are hard to come by and will change... usually change with a big one that reshuffles the deck, we're due for a big region wide MECS...
  17. I remember Jan 11 I had about 37" on the roof, and had to dig a path for the oil delivery, it was like fossil digging, you could see each separate snowfall layered as I got to the street, my dogs poop and pee stains like 2' down, it was close to 7' at the street from about 20" near the oil pipe, that was a hard lesson to not let go again, but we got gas now so no worries! but no rainers that month, the Feb 2nd one was wet and the end of it for me anyway.
  18. I was testing up in boxbourough, if I recall correctly that was the year of the big gas explosions in Lowell and everyone was clogging up all the area hotels, and the gas company was as well... I think it was that year.
  19. winter storm watch up from ALY for 7+ inches here, was thinking 6-8 anyway, we'll see where the best fronto sets up hopefully we can actually verify warning criteria
  20. yeah 78 will always be my top just for the shear magnitude and I was a kid so made it more fun, but 13 was the most snow I've ever seen fall, had 32" all said and done, and that was in Waterbury...took two days to fully clear my parents and my house out. closest I've come since is that March one, I think 2018, can't remember but was just under 20" in that one.
  21. 1.25 still all SN here...vis about 1/4 mi atm, still at 15.4F on the surface anyway.
