yeah it definitely is, I actually remember walking to school in Waterbury in the 80s and plows on the road, one dog that used to chase cars got scooped up in the plow and shot out, dog was fine but pretty funny looking back at that, we lived on a state maintained road in Waterbury, so they used to come by at like 40-50mph, from thomaston, old RT 8, fun times

exclusively IP/SN here now, nice little coating of ice snow on the deck... getting to the eversource situation, I am pretty pissed at them for years now, justifying hiking rates especially after 2011, with Irene then the snow storm, and just found out distribution rates are going to be going up almost 40% if not more, and I believe it was that tropical storm last year or year before that came racing up and knocked out power to a couple hundred thousand people, us being one, without power for days, but I still see many many limbs that are overhanging major trunk lines still not trimmed, but there is no other option than to spend 20k and get solar, off grid, because if you tie into the grid, they can shut it down without warning if say the grid is being overloaded, like they are doing in Australia now, and not telling customers so they think they will be fine, until they realize the utility company, from government orders, disconnected the solar on their house, crazy.

thx, I seem to remember like widespread 60"+ on one of those nam runs, regardless they are going to get hammered with synoptic and then les, man, twice in one year having a multiple foot snow event there, is that uncommon? I know the tughill gets it almost yearly but around the Buf area, I don't recall... my uncle lives in I think Williamsport or burg, and remember one year he had like 65" in one event over a couple day period, but was strictly LES, regardless, that's insane

little IP/SN/RN mix to start here in Winsted... been sitting at 35/29 nearly all day, forgive me if this was already addressed, but are we still thinking these winds will mix down and verify at the sfc? some things I was seeing yesterday and earlier were looking at sustained 30-40 with 60+ gusts, also looks like the thermometer is going to break Fri night with a sick delta from a high of around 50...

where are these snow maps that aren't on the KU scale? I used to have the link saved, but my phone updated and I lost it, can you please share so I can save again

forgot about that one, wasn't major here but plowable and still white Christmas regardless, thanks... yeah I remember that Thanksgiving one that was my first year driving in snow, albeit with a 67 Chevelle with 60s all around, would have been better driving with snow skis ha!

didn't that season start with boxing day storm, iirc, melts were epic leading up to that too, far different scenarios yeah, but I hear ya, if it ain't cold and white for Christmas, it's a bummer...for us old enough it's a reminder of those 80s Christmas winters where it's 50 and raining, last good Christmas I can recall I think was early 2000s I remember thunder snow on Christmas, believe ALY area got crushed, maybe there's one more recent I can't recall...Will??

yeah the fact that temp measuments have moved to locations that are not only more populated, but more covered with asphalt and less vegetation, where we all know can make a major temperature difference, same with maritime readings from vessels, thermocouple movement closer to the exhaust rather than away, make a difference. I've been focusing on one particular station about 5 miles from me, but I'm going to search for another in the vicinity and do the same break down and plot data .. curious to see any anomalies etc. it's tedious, seeing how I do aerospace testing for a living and deducing data is a good part of it, makes it seem like work so I'm taking it slowly, you understand I'm sure. but I'll post when I finish.

I'm still working on plotting data for the last century from the closest official station to me, I've only got snow complete so far and even in that short period, you can see peaks and valleys, of course some anomalous years that scew the mean, but 20s and 30s of the 20th century were poor in terms of snowfall, really peaked from mid 50-late 60s, then fell through the early 90s, and up again, and on it goes... I'll continue with total rainfall, temps, and total precip and plot to have a good idea, I'm going out on a limb and say it'll peak and valley accordingly

I'm so jello, we just got a new 36" ariens a few days ago and was so hoping to give it a go, but alas, it must wait to break the cherry, nice machine you got there -
maybe I should get back to Florida, only time it actually snowed and accumulated here was when I was there, and now this one is trending towards crapping the bed? be awful to waste such a favorable pattern, congrats NNE folks tho on the last one, still have a few inches otg from the storm when I was gone, but drip drip...

savoy coming in almost 20", weren't we talking about that area yesterday as maybe a 30 spot? looks like it could keep going over night there, around Bennington too 16+, about what was progged for that area heavy wet too I imagine.. -

glad to see some NNE folks verified those amounts forecast, major bust here, what 1" of slush we had is now gone, was expecting 6-8, not surprised that sandisfield, Norfolk, North Canaan etc, actually got around 6" last check, amazing, and it pretty much snowed all day, just not good rates and a bit less elevation, heard Stratton got smashed! good for the ski areas, they need it there, hopefully next week doesn't trend similar.good thing we still had a few inches otg so still pretty white around here otherwise would really blow -

I've only had just about an inch of slop, I heard up towards that way they were in 4-8" range, this was at like 7 though not sure now -

some parts already picked up a few to even as much as 8", and all around me just higher in elevation is a mess, but I agree no way we pull off even three inches here, top of 44/202 in Torrington has a couple inches otg I've got a slushy half inch -

now flipping between catpaws and some rain, I have hope, that the rates will help, but not expecting more than a couple here, maybe Norfolk up a little higher will do well, hopefully I'm wrong, ALY and you seem to feel good about it so I'll trust, we'll find out in a few hours when I wake how the overnight did -

not really happy with the way things started here, snizzle and some flakes, right to rain now, radar would suggest otherwise tho .. we'll see if we stay or flip by morning
