  1. Honestly, it was pretty lame here (Roosevelt Island). Heavy rain for a few minutes, preceded by some thunder and lightning. Took the temps down a bit though.
  2. I genuinely feel for you. Nothing worse than trying to sleep in pea soup (no matter the temperature, actually). I hope that you get an AC back up and running soon!
  3. “Some long-range models are seeing a favorable MJO flip guys. Delayed but not denied!”
  4. Got dark again, but now the sky is bright to the west. Very odd day indeed.
  5. Few drops of rain on Roosevelt Island, but the sun has remained out for the last hour or so. Very strange.
  6. Already psyched for a flip to a SE ridge and Greenland vortex just in time for ‘snow’ season!
  7. Nah they were up in the air over the mainland for a bit. But my parents, who went to Jones Beach, did not get to see them since, like you said, they were called off. Was a very nice day here until the marine layer rolled in.
  8. Was summer-like when I left Albany yesterday afternoon and Seattle-like when I arrived in NYC three hours later. Make it stop!
  9. Is there any reason besides sheer happenstance/ bad luck why patterns beloved by winter-weather lovers lately seem to always set up outside of the winter season (and especially during the spring)?
  10. I think many of us (except for maybe @MJO812 ) are feeling pretty done with this pattern, Chris. Do we break it in early June—as some stuck spring back door patterns have done in the past IIRC?
  11. We agree from like October 1st onwards and then part ways in April. I absolutely live for maximal frigid cold and snow all winter, but once that’s no longer a possibility, I’m all about sunny days with temps exceeding 80F! These cold, dreary springs are terrible.
  12. Nevermind. I think I found the source:
  13. Seriously smoky conditions on the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island. Wildfire-related or something else?
  14. My soul is ready. I wish it would stay like this until our next wall-to-wall winter of boring PAC-jet nonsense .
  15. I would love to have this kind of cold return, even if it were dry. Much preferable to the winter warmth to which we have become accustomed.
  16. Guys I’m up in Albany for the week starting tomorrow, so it’s guaranteed to trend south and give the Metro its first significant snowfall in two years. Enjoy!!
  17. I’m in the same camp. I think NYC limps to double digits for the season by St. Paddy’s Day.
  18. Mmmm I’d say go outside and bask in the winter feel today. Might be awhile before we experience it again, unfortunately .
  19. My working amateur thesis was that maybe another Niño would snap things back in a positive direction for people like me who love the cold and snow. Might have to revisit that……
  20. Given how the past few winters have gone and the fact that we are climatologically near winter’s peak, a big part of me feels like the next few days will be the coldest stretch this winter will have to offer. Anyone else?
  21. Oh sign me up man I’m all about it! 13–14 and 14–15 (the former more so) were my glory days! Snowing with single-digit temps is the best it gets IMO!
  22. I think it’s the ephemerally-better PAC that has me a tad excited for this one. Climo is on our side as well.
