You may not realize this just yet, but winter is gonna get awesome there this season. This arctic airmass is just getting started. The Greenland Block ain't going nowhere. Not for weeks and weeks.
-
20 degrees with all sleet, very fine stuff that the wind is blowing all over the place. Its gonna be tough to measure. Winds are north to 30 mph. Wind chill is about 5 above zero. So surreal down here in the Deep South.
-
23 degrees freezing drizzle and very fine snow flurries. Very chilly wind chills around 8 degrees.
-
Mid Atlantic will get heavy snow soon. This enormous polar dome isn't going anywhere for a long while.
-
I just might have to order a military transport to bring all the Mid Atlantic contingent down here lol. This weather happening here in South Central Texas is beyond surreal.
-
24 degrees with frz dz and a few snow grains. Everything is iced and frozen over with an eighth of an inch of ice. I am sliding on the road and on the grasses and dirt! Every surface is ice! Wind chill is about 5 with northeastern gusts to 27 mph. Feels a lot like Dale City in January. I will keep you all updated.

That's it! That's a jebslide! That's a very good term for an Ice jebwalk lol! I did a LOT of jebsliding in 1994! It wasnt just ice walking, I did a lot of literal sliding, too! Many times, that was the only way to get downhill!

I hope the Mid Atlantic gets a big snow soon. I think that is a distinct possibility. This is a massively frigid airmass. Someone is going to get totally annihilated by snow, and I think its going to be the Mid Atlantic Region. Climatology tends to agree with me, this is Mid February. You guys are going to get destroyed by heavy snow, sooner rather than later.

I dont think we are gonna get that much snow, probably just mood flakes amid the swirling frigid Arctic cold lol.

Conditions are very unusual for us here in south central Texas. What Mid Atlantic folks would call routine weather, is really freezing our Texan arses off down here LMAO! This is the 2nd day in a row of near 30 temps with deep clouds and north winds gusting to 25 sending wind chills down into the teens! Highs are now in excess of 30 degrees below normal. Our water lines froze solid - no water beginning this morning. The Arctic regime is showing us no mercy at all lol. We are not really prepared for this down here lol. I have gotten used to our warmer climate down here, I actually think 88/67 weather is comfortable lol. In February! I am being forced to haul water from our neighbors three doors down! LOL! Kind of like back in the 1800s! Water is H-E-A-V-Y stuff! You dont see ice on trees very often here! Its been on trees and other objects for two days running, even in the daytime! Its surreal as heck! I keep on having to ask myself am I in south central Texas, or am I back in Northern Virginia? Overnight, MORE freezing drizzle is expected, and some tomorrow. Now, everything has had a couple days to freeze down. Now we are approaching surface frigidization criteria on the ground - and any drizzle that falls WILL freeze on contact, EVERYWHERE! The sun angle isnt helping us one little bit! I have been laughing at my relatives up north in Wisconsin, boy did he laugh at me this morning! As if that wasnt challenging enough for us - Sunday afternoon we are going to get treated to another Arctic front, this one will drop our temps from near 30 on Sunday afternoon, into the teens, and bring freezing rain which is forecast to transition from ZR, to sleet, to snow. The ground is sure cold enough lol. Monday is forecast to be extremely cold for this part of the world, highs struggling to hit 20 degrees and lows which could fall to zero. Its going to get VERY VERY cold here, and we really dont have the infrastructure for it lol. Add the winds, and we might have to contend with -10 wind chills. Tuesday night, it might be a bit milder, but not mild enough to save us from yet another freezing rain event lol. I think this winter may be the South Central Texas' version of 2013-14 lol.

I hope you guys get shellacked by heavy snow!

Congrats everyone!

Even down here in South Central Texas - its cold, highs in the low 30s about 30 degrees below normal with frzra. Its really surreal to see trees down here frosted with ice! It was even more surreal tonight when I went outside on the damn deck and fell right on my ass from ice accretion! Fortunately, I did not get injured. My neighbor saw it because the porch light was on and she laughed her ass off. She was positively rollicking with laughter over the spectacle of me falling on my butt on ice so far removed from northerly climes here in South central Texas. This is the second winter weather event this winter. We usually only get one, which is usually about a quarter inch of sleet. The event on Jan 10 was 2 inches of wet snow. Today we ended up with an eighth of an inch of ice. That wind was brutal, wind chills to 14. I am not used to this like I used to be lol. Normal temps are 61 for a high and 44 for a low.

Feb Long Range Discussion (Day 3 and beyond) - MERGED

I remember that. We got 3 inches of sleet on the ground. I was jebwalking on that glacier then ended up slithering down hills like a snowbound lemming. That, was pure ecstasy! Ever try sledding down a sleet covered hill that has glacierized? I was going FAST! I felt like Chuck Yeager at the Winter Olympics. There was NO stopping. I went super fast down the icy hill and right into the woods, right into a creek! The ice there was thin, of course. I got a good soaking. Those were the best of times! -
We got all this moisture we are happily sending northeast-bound up to you as SNOW! Get those shovels ready!
-
You could go out on an EPIC Ice Jebwalk!
-
Hope not. I was starting to believe that we were going to get to March with nice mild weather then it would turn warm. It's a Nina, after all, Ninas are warmer than normal and drier than normal. Is this forecast for low 20s for HIGH temperatures next Monday for real? I am really hoping that it isnt. I have livestock and birds and a lot of herbs that have made it nearly thru the entire winter down here south of Austin, TX.
-
Well, gotta stay positive, it IS coming but we are all gonna WILL this one in, we're gonna bring this home!
-
You are right on track. Those that sleep and that get up about 8am should enjoy a nice white surprise! Heavy snow with accumulating, shovelable and plowable snow!
-
If I was in N VA I would definitely stay up all night for this one.
-
It's gonna make it this time.
-
Better look out around Feb 16 in the Mid Atlantic! That super frigid airmass will end interacting with a storm and will probably hurl back immense, immense amounts of snow! This is going to be a FUN February for the entire Washington Metropolitan Region!

I hope this thing overperforms so much! I want you guys to get snowed in so bad, its not even funny!
