Had some flakes and graupel for a second down in Waynesville earlier at 48 degrees. 39 when I left my place.

Wind was brutal yesterday, dry and sunshine let me get some small tree and shrub cutting done though.

24 hr temperature change for yesterday ended up being -40.6. Got down to 7 this morning, very impressive for mid-March!

Holding steady at 11.5 at my place.

Measured 4” on protected areas of my deck, so that’s what I’m going with. 27-28” for the season. Hovering around 14 degrees after dipping down to 13 earlier. Hiked up to the top of the mountain (4100’) and got blasted by the wind, made for a frozen beard. View from the little lookout up there.

Man when you get under one of these squalls it puts it down. How’s this for a 12 hour temperature change. Went from 51.4 at 12 am to 14.2 at 12 pm for a delta of -37.2.

Shaping up to be the best flow snow event at my new place that I’ve been home thus fa. No clue on any kind of official total because of the wind earlier when nothing was falling blowing it off my deck but it’s looking like I might be approaching 3” on my deck railing. The 2-4” call verified for me. If it does this another 4-6 hours I think I can make a run at 6” and the 30” for the season.

Temps continue to plummet, down to 17. This temp drop is making a run at reaching levels of one I experienced in Ohio way back in like 2014. 45 degrees when I left the hotel in the morning and -2 when I got back to it that evening.

My friend in west Asheville has about what I woke up to for the looks of the pics she sent, 1.5-2” I’d say.

51 at midnight to 21 now per my weather station history. Heavy, heavy sleet at 3 am when the wind and it woke me up. Like Met, got about 2” and the wind is howling

51.8 on my side of the mountain.

I know it’s in the 20-24” range for me, I think it’s right around 23”.

Had a trace this morning at my place.

Figured with the cold front and wind I’d wake up to some snow, solid dusting. Wind whipped it around but probably a 1/4”. Good call Met.

Mine’s gone but I’m south facing. All North faces were pretty much all snow cover still until today.

Yesterday was colder as we dipped down to 8, low of 13 at 2:30 this morning and now up to 22.

I can’t remember, it was sometime in that time frame of ‘14 to ‘15 as my wife and I had yet to put down either of our first two dogs. If I could find the pics, I’d know the exact date.

I think it was the ‘14 storm, @BullCityWx was reporting huge flakes just piling up down in Ft Mill and there I was sitting a couple degrees colder yet all I have was a mighty blizzard of pea sized at best flakes. Same storm, same precip shield, just was stuck with what had to be lackluster moisture transport in the dendrite growth zone. Then it switched to sleet and we had 4” on concrete and a local minima I think. The Belmont/Mt Holly/Western Meck below Mountain Island earned that surprise overperformer the other week!

So true, when I lived over by the airport on the river we kept getting shafted with either terrible moisture in the dendrite growth region or the dreaded warm nose.

I experienced an overachiever out hunting in Wyoming last year so it all equals out lol. Hopefully there will be a 95 runner before the end of our season so we have a mountain region wide 8-12”+ storm from Murphy to Jefferson and valleys to ridge tops. I must have brought the mojo with me when I moved back lol. Been a crazy month post-Christmas after that horrible December.

Awesome Met! I was thinking 3” was gonna be high end but based on what you are reporting I’m guessing 6-8” at my place. Busted into the single digits with a wind chill in the negative teens. I’m jealous of you guys, hate I missed it!

Dang hate I am missing it. 11.5 degrees at the house, I’m gonna need you to get a measurement Met!

Went from a temp of 38.1 at 12:30 to 26.4 at 4:30. That’s a decent little drop, how low can we go.

Currently sunny and upper 40’s here in Western Oklahoma, headed to the 60’s this weekend. I’m not planning on bringing any of that back with me until April at least lol.
