RRFS/REFS Go-Live & Legacy Model Retirements Nov 3 This is a reminder regarding major operational dataset changes taking effect on NOMADS (https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/) on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Key Changes & Path Updates: 1. Legacy Model Retirements (SCN 26-47): Data directories for the following retired models will no longer be updated and will be decommissioned: - NAM (/pub/data/nccf/com/nam/) - SREF (/pub/data/nccf/com/sref/) - HREF (/pub/data/nccf/com/href/) - HiresW (/pub/data/nccf/com/hiresw/ - except Guam) - NAM MOS 2. New Model Additions (SCN 26-48): Next-generation high-resolution data streams are available under new operational directory paths: - Rapid Refresh Forecast System (RRFS v1.0): /pub/data/nccf/com/rrfs/prod/ - RRFS Ensemble Forecast System (REFS v1.0): /pub/data/nccf/com/refs/prod/ 3. Downstream & Auxiliary Updates: - HYSPLIT v9.1 (SCN 26-78): Inputs updated to use RRFS/GFS streams. - SPC Post v3.0 (SCN 26-77): Post-processing output headers and directories updated. - Blend & MAG Website Changes (SCN 26-89): Web visualizations and blend inputs transitioned to RRFS/REFS.

My Muttontown station is probably 15 feet or so from the pool on the pool patio edge. I don’t know what the temp of the pool is but I know it’s not being heated.

I think my Syosset station runs higher with its DP and my Muttontown station has a more accurate DP compared to ASOS stations. If winds are calm I can see upper 30s happening and potential for mid 30s in pine barrens, etc. Syosset has a DP of 41 compared to Muttontown with a DP of 33 currently.

Yep got the email from NOMADS: NOMADS users. I have a number of updates for you on our new dataflows. RRFS/REFS has moved to Nov 3. With that all associated terminations and upgrades tied to that model have also shifted. We understand this delay may be frustrating to some, but hope you understand our commitment to ensure the model is running at its best before implementation. The parallel feeds will continue through the Nov 3 launch date. I think they changed the forecast, as of last night today was forecasted to be mostly sunny. This morning was patchy fog and then partly sunny. Current forecast is now partly sunny.

You surpassed me to no surprise, 4.81" so far. You really got nailed yesterday afternoon onward it seems.

Post Sandy PSE&G has been more aggressive with cutting back trees from the lines, especially transmission lines. They also did a lot of FEMA money replacement projects of the transmission lines too. Perhaps it’s paying off or it’s just pure luck the outages weren’t worse.
