  1. We are lucky in Virginia that the golf courses remain open. At this time of year, one can play almost every day. Great for your sanity.
  2. Had heard the horror stories. Walked in to Tysons DMV around 10:05 yesterday and was back in my car by 10:40.
  3. Not often I can say I golfed 18 holes right after, and no more then 15 minutes from the location of a record tying "snowstorm'" 307 SXUS71 KLWX 050229 RERIAD RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC 928 PM EST WED DEC 04 2019 ...RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM SNOWFALL TIED AT WASHINGTON DULLES DC... 4. Friend in Lansdowne was reporting the torrential rains out there around 7 AM. Told him we only had sprinkles. Around 8, the sky to the west turned black and the torrential rains commenced with a thunder clap or two but no winds.
  5. Oops. Wrong ice storm. The poll had the sleet fest of February not the January one I was remebering.
  6. Since I moved to NoVa in October 79, I missed PDI. Been in my location since 1986 and would vote 1996 #1 followed by the two storms of 1987. Part of the reason for my vote is because of the ice damming in my gutters,,followed by water running thru the three levels of my house with major damages to walls, carpeting and ceiolings on three levels. Since the kitchen ceiling collapsed in 1996, I vote that over 1987, even though in 1987 the ice damming was a new "thrill" for me. There was no ice damming in 2003 and 09-10 because the only reason the ice damming stopped in 1996, was I learned my neighbor (who has since moved) had a three story ladder and we would climb up and shovel the a lot of the roof. I actually think the 1994 ice storm deserves more votes (counting the extreme cold that followed) because of the way things got frozen in place like our garbage cans (best flash freeze /ice storm I ever experienced),and the fact that DC basically shut down because the boats could not deliver coal or whatever to the power plants.
