  1. Thanks for posting the model updates for the upcoming storm. I have a family member that's going to be flying into and out of TLH this week.

  2. We'll have a display in the 4-H barn but the robots are only going to be in the Buck Barn (giant pumpkins, veg displays, vendors and politicians) on Sunday from 10-2. I'm glad that we picked Sunday since heavy delicate electronics don't mix well with rain. It would be great if you're there and you stop by!
  3. Hillsborough County Fair in New Boston, NH. https://www.hcafair.org/ FWIW, I help lead a 4-H club that has three competition robotics teams. You know the weather people that can give you endless amounts of information at the drop of question? It can be like that too.
  4. That works well, thank you for the info. Load-in is Thursday and load-out on Sunday around 6. Hopefully it will decent on both.
  5. Any details about next weekend? It's county fair time and it's much easier if it isn't in pouring rain. Normally at least one day it's bucketing but it would be nice if everything wasn't muddy ruts from trucks and trailers.
  6. So, road trip to St. John and Moncton, NB. St. John is currently 65 and they have a Costco. St. John is not supposed to break 80 in the next 10 days. But bring your Mastercard because Canadian Costcos don't take Visa. The Moncton one gas a gas station. Oh, and for your Costco road trip, you could stop at the one in Scarborough, Maine which also has gas. I recently did a trip up to Newfoundland and did hit all four Costcos for gas, snacks, etc. Was a good time.
  7. There's going to almost certainly be outages in my area. I will be getting more gas tomorrow.
  8. For Jaffrey, it's 4/12/16 so we likely to be in the power outage world again.
  9. Looking at the NWS point and click for NNE, it looks like my area is either the jackpot or the worst place to be, depending on how you look at it. My problem is that I help lead one of 96 robotics teams of high school students that are going to be loading into the Big E on Wednesday afternoon. The competition runs through Saturday. The joy we have: heavy trailers full of equipment being driven through Wednesday's snow / sleet fest and then unloaded in Wednesday's rain in MA while our power lines come down at home. We all received the email that we'd qualified for this yesterday and today at 5pm is the registration payment deadline. So while it's truly an IMBY question, how bad is it going to be for the Monadnocks?
  10. Power bounced around for a while. It's now out and I think it's going to be a while. Bought a ew generator this fall though.
  11. Thank you for posting this! As someone who has a family member that has been sober for a decade or so, I am eternally grateful that every day is another day that we have them with us. It's a tremendous gift to be able to share something so intense and personal.
  12. We had last year's March epic snowstorm and I can pass on a Snowmaggeddon, honestly. Some snow yes, over 30", no.
  13. We've had snow here for a while. It's not really accumulating.
  14. My experience with Amica has been terrific for years. I'd definitely look at their options. They're probably not the cheapest but they definitely do well on the customer service / details to claims. I recently had an auto claim - someone backed into the side of my car in a parking lot and Amica handled it well.
  15. I know this is a classic IMBY question but I'm scheduled to have a meeting tomorrow in Peterborough with teens which gets out at 8pm. Most don't live in Peterborough so will be driving outside the relatively warm and flat area. If you were running the meeting, would you cancel because teens + first snow of the year? The work needs to be done but none of it needs to be done this week. Thanks!
  16. December 2. It'll probably rain or sleet here because there's a Christmas tree lighting and parade in the evening. Nothing like a cold rain outside on a Saturday evening.
  17. Jeff. my condolences. This is awful, in so many ways. I hope that there's time to get out in the woods and just be there, taking in the peace.
  18. Once you have enough to put some in current use, the $/acre go down significantly. Buy lakefront property in a town with a great or expensive school district and, yes, you will pay for that. It's the total tax burden that tends to be lower but if it's just investment / weekend property, then the property tax will be higher than many places.
