  5. Excellent storm in PWM. Lots of c-g. hvy rn, wind
  6. holy shite. Very dark here in PWM with thunder
  7. I never recall 'nadoes being somewhat common in NE. Seems like in last 10yrs we've had more than I recall. ME averages 2 and we had one this past wknd.
  8. I forget. Was my Dads. Single action. Has emblem with three presidents on the stock. Early 70's rifle.
  9. We do face S/SW. Great in the Winter. Thankfully in Summer the sun goes over the roof, so we get no sun through front of windows, but we also have a "hot roof", so temps get very warm up near ceiling fan. Late in day, we get couple hrs of sun through the wall the unit is on which is why we put some curtains up yesterday. I read online that if ceiling is >8ft, you should add ~30% more BTU. Our guy clearly didn't take that into acct.
  10. Good advice. We hung some temp curtains yesterday. We do have a large ceiling fan, not pictured. Will turn on. I assume we want to have it spin such that air is pushing down or will that only push more hotter heat down, making AC more difficult to cool?
  11. Here's a pic of the install. cat seems comfortable
  12. Spoke to the install guy and told him we can't get room temp less than 5F below outside air temp. This seems unacceptable, but he says it's not and his AC evap froze up yesterday at his house do to the high dews/temp. It was only 80F. Can't imagine our unit doing squat when it's 90F+/70. I think the issue is the high cathedral ceiling/loft area that obviously traps a lot of heat. The indoor unit is mounted ~9ft. Using the IR gun, the top of the unit was 77F while room temp at couch level was 75F. I had remote setting on 64F. There's no way our room will cool to that level, so the compressor will be constantly running right? The bedroom unit was set for 68F on remote and I woke up to the same temp on our room thermostat, so it seems clear to me the new unit is likely undersized and with such a large cubic vol of hot air, the new pump will not be able to do much for temp. Humidity OTOH was lowered to 60%, so that was good and achieves a more comfortable level, but for $4K, I'm pretty disappointed.
  13. Model FTXS12LVJU. Are you saying run it in auto mode? I've been running it on cool mode, medium fan speed. Remote temp setting is at 64, low as it will go.
  14. Still was a shitty way to run a winter
  15. Lots of windows with southwest exposure, but at this time of year the sun goes over the house. Only late in day do we get some sun through west side windows. Put it on yesterday at 3pm. Inside temp was 80f. By 9pm, room was only down to 76f. Left it on all night. Room temp is 71; same as outside. Meanwhile ouu master bed unit got temp down to 64f. I took the IR gun to both and they are both blowing out 58f air.
  16. Went to LL Bean today to grab a couple pair overpriced shorts. It was dead in there. All of Freeport was very quiet. For mid July, it was abnormal
  17. Went to dinner last night for our anniversary. Soon as we approached the door, there was sign that said AC in use, close door behind you. Normally wouldn't think twice but it got me a bit anxious. Thankfully it was early and only one table was seated ahead of us. Waitress wore face shield so that was appreciated. Case number is very low in the town we were in (Paris), but would feel better eating outside. Side note, we got our new mini ductless heat pump installed. I think the guy undersized the unit. We have 750sqft with 20' cathedral ceilings and he installed 12K btu Daikin. Online load calculators say we should be 15-18K. We ran unit for three hrs yesterday afternoon and we couldn't get temp in room down one degree from 78F. Humidity was lower though and it felt more comfortable. In comparison, our master bed which is 210sqft has 5K btu and works great.
  18. 0.48" overnight. Radar suggests that's gonna be most of it
