Based on that posted snow cover map we should be in decent shape. But we are getting ahead of ourselves I believe. The pattern upcoming looks favorable for at least seasonal conditions based on the current ensemble guidance all subject to change.

I notice those near misses the most with clippers in recent times. I could be off my rocker but it seems they have trended north over the years. They hardly get underneath us anymore. Maybe that was always the case and I have selective memory.

I used to think otherwise but now I think we need precip first...cold dry sucks donkey marbles...even under ideal conditions getting snow in the forum is a crap chute...my brother lives just north of DTW and will end up with a third of my seasonal snowfall today in Nov

Yes it was a last minute save from a backdoor cold front...it was progged to be warm until last minute

First flakes should be a holiday all on its own. Just take a mental health day.

Just looking at GEFS 500mb for Thanksgiving week looks workable. It doesn’t look too bad at least based on this run.

So I would think that means cold enough to snow with abundant moisture from unfrozen bodies of water but not steady deep cold to expand the sea ice. Good and bad is how I interpret that.

I was looking at the 850 temp anomaly on GEFS toward turkey day....Canada is torch red.

This is an example of the calendar working against us. There isn’t even a GLL to screw things up but the high in the plains is not cold enough and no CAD. Month from now same scenario might have better outcome. Cold rain is cool I guess.

None of us are sure if we will wake up tomorrow morning...that said.... yes there is warmth coming in December.

That’s good enough for me. I’m not the GFS fan I used to be..it has led me down the primrose path one too many times.

Another thing I notice is each run of the GFS the cold is not as deep at the previous. We were at 516 few cycles ago now 534. It’s becoming less interesting.

Front looks a little more juiced this 12z run. That’s call straw grabbing.

It was good target practice anyway. Tracking season is well underway now so getting ready to play the long game.

No reason to abandon ship just yet..we have more time to take on water. Euro had snow in KY so just hoping for first flakes now. Flawed weenie logic.
