  1. Agreed. We’ve seen it worse in recent times. Who knows what the future holds but today is fantastic
  2. Already up 20 to 51, another glorious day out there, ya gotta love it.
  3. Absolutely. Should have decent swings tomorrow and Monday as well thanks to the dryness.
  4. Some nice diurnal temperature swings here the last few days: Thu: 29/58 Fri: 29/67 Sat: 31/70(forecast)
  5. Clearly my lawn missed the Drought Monitor update as I'll need to mow this weekend...
  6. Low of 29 here. A follow up answer to the above, the longest I've gone between the first freeze and the first hard freeze was 9/21/20-10/31/20.
  7. I highly doubt that you will go across the Southern Tier but I was up in Buffalo this week for a conference and drove that way. Some really nice colors in the hill towns south and east of Buffalo.
  8. Going back to my first year of detailed records which was the 2005/2006 cold season, here are the years that the first freeze and hard freeze occurred on the same date: 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014. So it's been a little while now since it's happened IMBY.
  9. Looks like 28.5 will do it for the low, oh the pain LOL
  10. I was just thinking the same thing, dipped down below freezing between 2:40-2:45am at home, down to 29 currently. As for your question, I'll check my records for how often that has happened but I'll need a day or two to look it up.
  11. Typo, sorry, should've said hard freeze, I'll correct that.
  12. 1.28” here over the same period, thanks to the .07” today. Agreed that it’s becoming a noticeable dry stretch.
  13. Nothing like generating your own cold. You gotta feel for folks who have to rely solely on Canada for their cold.
  14. 47 and light rain, .01 thru the tipper. Just a miserable day.
  15. Just enough drizzle to make the ground/leaves wet, not enough to register on the Davis LOL
  16. I don’t fret when I have to flip it on, it doesn’t run all that much this early in the season. Living in a house close to 200 years old with little insulation makes the choice easier although discouraging at the same time LOL
  17. Good deal, most of my leaves will be down by then. These dry leaves make for much easier clean up.
  18. The leaves IMBY are not so great this year, the gypsy moths did a number on them in the spring then it was wet and now rather dry. I've had a good amount of leave drop already. Who knows anymore what brings on good foliage. That said, this little autumn blaze red maple on the left does not disappoint.
  19. Yeah, screenshots usually work for me too but not today for some reason. edit: I just took a different photo and the screenshot of it worked. I dunno. It's in the NW thread.
  20. What sites are folks using to upload photos here these days? I've tried all the old tricks to be able to upload a photo this morning with no luck, the file size still comes up as too big. I have plenty of room in my attachments folder so it's not that.
  21. Had a nice little inversion up here earlier, I was 47 at 385’ while Legoland seven miles to my SW at approx 650’ was at 61.
  22. Interesting to me, IMBY the new run got cooler by 5 degrees.
  23. Speaking of my records, at least I am anyway LOL, today is my first day of a low between 36-32 which is the NWS definition of first frost. Today also happens to be my 19 year average first NWS definition of frost date. Exciting, right? Here are some more useless stats from IMBY, average first visible frost is 10/15, average first freeze is 10/22 and average first hard freeze is 10/29.
