  1. You're a NYS cop, is it 20 years and done with full pension/benefits for life for you? I know NYS has one of the best pension programs for state employees in the country.
  2. I was on my computer studying and heard the wind pick up and some crazy noise hitting the house. I had to get up and see this. It was like a graupel thunderstorm.
  3. April 2017 had 2 synoptic events. I have pictures on my phone from both.
  4. 1/2" of QPF in the hills with over 3" of snow yesterday, airport almost picked up an 1"
  5. I've worked at quite a big large companies and they're lazy people everywhere. I guess you have to ask yourself would I rather just on my ass and take advantage of the system and make 25k a year(food stamps/welfare), or work my ass off and make 50-100k+ a year. For me, $25k doesn't allow me to travel, and half of that has to be spent on food via food stamps. I'd much rather work. I can see what you're saying if the disparity between taking advantage of the system and working hard was close, but it really isn't close at all.
  6. Wind picked up and this covered the ground. @DeltaT13 Would this be considered sleet or graupel?
  7. Hard to see but looks like it's snowing pretty well at Holiday Valley https://www.holidayvalley.com/explore/webcams/
  8. Buffalo received 8" of snow on May 8th in 1989 1989 7th-8th…A late season snowstorm dropped up to twelve inches of snow across the western southern tier, Niagara Frontier and the Finger Lakes area. At Buffalo just under eight inches was recorded while at Rochester just over 10 inches fell. The snowfall established many new weather records for both cities. The snow covered the entire ten county area. The heavy, wet snow downed power lines and trees which took down more power lines when they fell. As lines fell, power poles were snapped. Nearly 13,000 customers were without electricity in much of Orleans and parts of northeast Genesee and western Monroe counties. Numerous scattered minor outages were also reported. Some roofs collapsed from the weight of the snow. Plows and salters were called out to clear roadways, though much of the snow was melting as it fell.
  9. Which makes me wonder. How do they come up with the flu vaccine so quickly if it mutates each year?
  10. I'll tell you one thing. I think hand shakes are done for. We need to come up with something different. Maybe a air fist pump or something? Air high five?
  11. Exactly. The subsequent wave of cases could be double, triple what we have already experienced the last few weeks. As soon as I'm let free I'm going to the gym. That place will be a cesspool of COVID.
  12. What is the infection number at now? Is it guaranteed to lower?
  13. I feel like the social distancing is working but once we get out and about again is the virus just going to disappear? Without a vaccine or herd immunity, what is to say we just end up exactly where we are now or even worse? I don't really see a short term solution in all of this. We already have proof of warmer weather climates that it does not stop the virus. Once we start having our outdoor concerts, fairs, parties,etc... What will happen then?
  14. Well I just booked my first trip after this virus is all over. Mt. Kilimanjaro in July of 2021. 8 day hike up the mountain and 2 day safari! Going with 7-8 friends. If anyone is interested we are looking for a few more people. Going to use my $600 a week from UI to pay for it.
  15. 799 more deaths in NY. 20 more then yesterday. We should hit our peak next week.
  16. France is having a tough time 1,341 deaths in last 24 hours. 1,578 in USA so far.
  17. I think the $600 is needed and necessary. My wifes lawfirm of 150 employees was closed due to this virus. Majority of people in this law firm make over $45k a year. They work in foreclosure law which is non existent since Cuomo said no foreclosures for at least 3 months. Without that $600 there would be a lot of people not paying their monthly bills. This was to no fault of their own. It's only for 4 months...I don't see many people becoming that lazy for 4 months of $600 a week...
  18. I mean I guess but this is an odd situation. Most union electricians are pulling in 35 an hour. Not sure I would want to give that up. Especially as they are most likely entering their busy time of the year. With OT they are pulling in 50+ an hour.
  19. A perfect track for les effect snow on backside to if a month ago.
  20. More than 1 in 5 patients develop heart damage as a result of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, one small study published March 27 in the journal JAMA Cardiology suggested. Cardiologists say several scenarios could be unfolding: The heart may struggle to pump blood in the absence of enough oxygen; the virus may directly invade heart cells; or the body, in its attempt to eradicate the virus, may mobilize a storm of immune cells that attack the heart. https://www.livescience.com/how-coronavirus-affects-heart.html
  21. Who would ever leave their job to get unemployment? Only those who are dumb would... UI is temporary, not guaranteed. You lose your health insurance, vacation time, seniority, relationship with your company and colleagues. Unless you make under $50k a year you actually make less money. There would be ZERO incentive for me to quit and go on UI. This post makes ZERO sense. Lindsey Graham is an idiot, as is typical with most of the GOP. Pelosi is an idiot too though. Cannot stand that lady.
  22. Yeah we had 1/2" here. Higher elevations had a few inches at least.
