  1. I'm sure we will transition to something like Iceland has. Social gatherings of 20 or more people would still include restaurants, gyms, sporting events, etc... Those will probably be the last places to open up. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/iceland-finds-that-half-its-citizens-with-coronavirus-have-shown-no-symptoms-2020-04-10
  2. Would love to be a firefighter. It sucks that you have to live in the city. =(
  3. Cases and deaths down in Italy, Spain, UK, France. They are definitely turning the corner and be back to normal sometime in May. I think June 1st is a good date for New York State.
  4. I have 4-5 friends who are troopers, quite a few cop friends and dozens of CO friends. The jobs are risky and suck quite often. I almost went the route of a county cop and took the test but got promoted within my company so backed out of it. I still wonder if I should go that route. COs jobs are really tough, but I have one who works 90 days a year because he swaps shifts all the time. That is a pretty cool benefit. Even though you make similar salaries. You'll never come close to the time off, benefits, and pension they get. Your friend will be retired in 5-10 years making 100k a year in a pension/deferred comp with full benefits.
  5. You should see these pensions man. I calculated it many times before. As both of us work in private industrys I'm assuming we would have to save in our 401k 1.4-1.7+ million to get what these officers get in their pensions by the time we retire to match what they get. It's unrealistic. 60-100k a year in the form of a pension for life is just insanity. Some of these guys are retiring in their early 40s. They collect this for 30-50 years...It's INSANE
  6. There are more applicants to the jobs I posted then any other job in New York State and for good reason. As someone who deals with retirement, the above positions have a better retirement then 99% of New York State private employees do.
  7. Why don't we privatize state troopers, corrections, police officers, fireman,etc...The amount of people I see applying for these jobs is unreal. Thousands upon thousands of people want these jobs and sit for the tests. You know why? Socialism isn't all that bad. They retire in 20-25 years, full benefits for life, 60-100k+ salaries, 70% of salary in the form of a pension for LIFE, flexible schedules, and unions that back them. That's what the people want. But then the people get these jobs are all republican and anti democrats. Hypocrites much? lol Back in the 60s-90s people that worked at Ford, GM, big airlines, etc... had pensions, great benefits, great retirement. Workers rights are slowly being taken away for corporate profits and executive compensation.
  8. There is a lot he could have said differently. He is anti science, that's a major problem. He's more worried about 30k coal jobs, then 650k postal workers jobs. He states that somehow mail in voting would be the "end" of the Republican party. https://news.yahoo.com/coronavirus-fauci-says-us-could-184722587.html Have you heard anything about the post office? @WesterlyWx https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-rejects-bailout-that-included-aid-to-usps-report-says-2020-4
  9. If you don't say what Trump wants you to say, you get fired. We have countless examples of this. I mean... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Trump_administration_dismissals_and_resignations
  10. And knowing Trump those words were probably from Trump himself telling him what to say to keep the country under control. If it didn't become a global pandemic he would likely still be uttering the same words. Just like Fauci is now saying we may be able to open up by May 1st. That isn't Fauci, that's a scared Trump running for reelection talking.
  11. What about this? This is 1000 times worse. When are we firing trump? https://www.factcheck.org/2020/03/trumps-statements-about-the-coronavirus/
  12. Cases going back up in China. No real way to stop this until we get a vaccine. But if we keep the cases low, the hospitals shouldn't have too much of an issue with this in summer as flu season winds down. If we don't have a solution by later this year as we head into winter/flu season again we may have a similar situation Mass testing is key.
  13. Did trump really tweet out about firing Dr. Fauci because he said in an interview that we would have been able to save lifes if we acted sooner?
  14. The storm yesterday in Mississippi was a Cat 4/5. Quite the outbreak
  15. I stayed up almost all night tracking these tornadoes, there was one after another nearly all night. Most of them had TDS.
  16. I don't think I can vote for someone like this. You also cannot trust the polls as Trump defied all polls that showed Hilary up by 10+ pts a week before voting. The general idea I get is Trump is going to win in a landslide and I agree with them. I hate the democractic party for turning on Bernie, that alone makes me want to switch sides. And this is too weird for me.
  17. They had to have had a record breaking year up there, just constant snowstorms. Have to be well over 300"
  18. I would wager quite a bit Trump gets reelected so brace yourself for another 4 years.
  19. Almost an impossible task trying to keep Western New Yorkers at home as it gets nicer out.
