  1. AVERAGE MONTHLY: 78.0 DPTR FM NORMAL: 7.1 Actually went up .1 yesterday with a low of only 74 degrees. +1.8 below the previous all time record high in 1921. 4 days left for the warmest month in Buffalos history!
  2. After this warm summer I'll definitely be looking forward to fall and winter. Also can't wait for waterspout season. Want to finally get some drone footage.
  3. I literally cannot imagine something like that...
  4. I am the same way, but the American economy only does so well because the majority spend way beyond their means. My only debt is a 2.75% mortgage payment.
  5. This is true if you include fast food workers/restaurants (tip based). Tip based industries never claim their full tips so that is highly subjective. Waitresses make insane money around here with tips+wage. But UI is calculated based on claimed income. Fast food never closed, and restaurants were only closed for 1-2 months depending on what state.
  6. I need to move to Mass. I know the cost of living there is very high. But with dependents they were making $1834 a week. (95K annual) $823 (Individual) up to $1,234 (w/dependents)
  7. "Almost everyone out of a job since this started is being paid more than the were while working. Most, not all." Incorrect.
  8. My wife is unable to go back to work for awhile as foreclosures are delayed until at least Aug 19th in New York State and likely longer. Really hoping they extend the UI benefits even if they slash the $600 in half. Her law firm of 200 people with offices in New York, Long Island, and Florida are still closed. Most of these employees are making far less on UI then they were working at the firm.
  9. NHC forecasted a big year this year. One of the highest I've ever seen them forecast.
  10. That's pretty sad if that's the case. Michigan MAX UI per week is $362. Not everyone gets the maximum amount. This was a temporary 4 month relief, it wasn't meant to last forever and it isn't. Add in the $600 and you're at 962 per week * 52 and thats 50k a year. The average US salary is According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median wage for workers in the United States in the first quarter of 2020 was $957 per week or $49,764 per year. So your notion is simply incorrect. 50k a year isn't even that good in my poor little city of Buffalo. https://www.savingtoinvest.com/maximum-weekly-unemployment-benefits-by-state/
  11. For six days in January 1998, freezing rain coated Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick with 7-11 cm (3-4 in) of ice.
  12. We just saw a tropical depression almost turn into a Cat 2 hurricane in less then 30 hours in the gulf. If that is a sign of things to come we're getting 1976-1977 winter this year.
  13. This is one of the largest in the Northeast history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_1998_North_American_ice_storm https://www.thoughtco.com/canadian-ice-storm-in-1998-508705
  14. That is one thing that we haven't had in awhile. Ice storms cause far more damage then any snowstorm can, aside from the big ones like Oct 2006 and Nov 2014. There have been some real doozies up in the Northeast.
  15. I would think with everything bad going on so far this year, having an easy winter is more anti 2020 then 2020. A warm winter likely leads to less spread of Covid. A cold/snowy summer and we have more spread. 99% of people would say having 150" of snow and a colder then normal winter is so "2020". We are the odd lot of the group.
  16. I forgot what those look like after last winter.
  17. 3-5" already ...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 PM EDT FOR EAST CENTRAL NIAGARA AND CENTRAL ORLEANS COUNTIES... At 408 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. These storms continue to train over the same area. Three to five inches of rain have fallen from Middleport to Medina to Albion. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
  18. Already over 3". They likely get 6"+ of rain. The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... East central Niagara County in western New York... Central Orleans County in western New York... * Until 715 PM EDT. * At 315 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen from east-central Niagara county to central Orleans county. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
  19. Well they didn't plan well enough if they're canceling 2 games already. The NHL just tested everyone with zero cases in their bubble.
  20. Pretty shocking the MLB didn't plan for this. Literally inevitable that something like this was going to happen. The bubbles with NHL and NBA have a chance but MLB and NFL, no chance the season finishes. Really sucks as the Bills have the best team its had since the Kelly years and more importantly Brady is gone.
  21. Really cool article on Buffalos climo from 1951-2012. Overall temperatures have risen an average of 1.4 degrees during this time period. http://glisa.umich.edu/media/files/BuffaloNY_Climatology.pdf
