  1. But hey we can still track 90+ heat with 75 dewpoints.
  2. Oh yeah, pho would be real nice...might have to do that actually.
  3. Beautiful day out for a run in rock creek park, cranked out 8 miles, then flying a kite with the kids and now a fire. Nice to have this crisp weather in May.
  4. Social distancing will be impossible to implement in schools IMO. Kids are programmed to be social, it’s just natural. There’s no way they’re going to stay away from each other all day. Just have to accept that they will be in contact.
  5. Yeah I’ve been thinking about this. My 4 yr old now yells “look people coming, we have to cross the street!” if we encounter other people on a walk...not normal.
  6. I’m getting more towards your line of thinking although for different reasons, minus the whole culture war aspect. We half assed this process so badly. Im not sure continuing these half baked semi lockdowns that don’t really keep the virus under control serve any long term purpose. I guess most states agree since they’re starting to open. We obviously are far too ignorant and stupid to pull off the test, trace, isolate, thing that Asian countries, Germany, etc are doing. So what are our options?
  7. I have no idea. It would be very inconvenient if my kids schools weren’t open, but the one I teach at is. I teach in a different school system than my kids go to. I hope DC, MD, VA, make a regional decision to avoid this issue.
  8. Yeah I can see that side of it too, but a moot point for my family since we’re both working during the day when homeschooling would happen.
  9. I’m not homeschooling. Not only do I not have a ability to do that because of work, but I think any amount of social interaction is good for them.
  10. It might not, but I think it should. It’s really a shame we ended up in this mess. We mismanaged every aspect of this so badly. We gave it out “best” shot which was a two month half assed lockdown that really hasn’t brought the virus under control.
  11. I think going back in person in the fall has to happen. Vulnerable populations will need extra protection in the workplace or work from home options.
  12. What a mess. What will parents who work (not from home) do with their kids if they’re not in school?
  13. I’ve been up to roaring plains and dolly sods for hiking trips in the summer. I’d like to rent a cabin up there within striking distance of hiking options.
  14. Beautiful morning, gonna be longing for a morning like this in 2 months when I wake up to 72 with a DP of 71.
  15. I absolutely will, love the beer and atmosphere there. I started going up to Davis to ski at white grass in the winter of 09-10 and had been going almost every year since but the weather hasn’t cooperated recently. I can’t even remember the last time I was up there in good conditions, maybe 2016 or 2017. Last time I was up there in winter I did a couple runs at timberline cause the snow wasn’t good enough for cross country.
  16. Oh wow, awesome. Been there a bunch of times. During the super snowy weekends it seems like you guys are packed!
  17. Are you the owner of stump town ales?
  18. Not bad, not as many kids login as I’d like. DCPS changed the grading scale so there are no 0’s and half the work is extra credit, so the kids literally just have to do 1 assignment to get an A. Can’t really blame them for not doing more.
  19. Straight beer for me tonight, had a tall boy 8% double IPA on an empty stomach, quite the belly burner if you know what I mean.
  20. Trolls=people who dont agree with you lol? Well there was @PhineasC, he makes some valid points but always throws in a hefty dash of the culture war stuff. “All the elite people enjoying the quarantine ordering door dash...” But then there was one guy who just posted worthless comparisons to the flu nonstop and another guy who posted some incoherent nonsense. At the end of the day the thread was fine. I say open it up!!!
  21. Can we open it up again? Why was it even shutdown?
  22. The thing that this crisis has really laid bare is how deeply people mistrust institutions and government. People really think Larry Hogan’s motives are something other than public health.
  23. Oh ok I was just looking at the pic
  24. Need a per capita violent crime stat there to compare. ETA: NYC one of the safest big cities nowadays.
